Oh my gosh. This just popped up on my LinkedIn feed. Right in the middle of my Ice Creams of the Northeast tour!
BE THE FIRST TO TRY HOKIE ICE CREAM!
Yes, you read that correctly. Virginia Tech just got a whole lot sweeter.
Today we announce our partnership with Homestead Creamery and introduce Hokie Tracks, a creamy vanilla ice cream with a ribbon of salted caramel and chocolate pretzel chunk.
You can be the first to try this delicious treat by attending Cones with Cornerstone! Click the link below.
Thank you to our Food Science and Technology Department for putting their taste buds to the test and crafting the recipe at the Homestead facilities in Wirtz, Virginia.

Sorry, this is the only link that was attached on what was sent to me:

Gotta admit, when I saw the post title, I was thinking we'd see some sort of raspberry/orange abomination. Glad it's at least a reasonable product.
I doubt it will ever get stocked in Whooville stores, so I likely will never get to try it.
I want a VT Sorbet
Would only be better if it stated that it was sweetened with hoo tears.
The salt from hoo tears is on the pretzels.
Team Ice Cream FTW.
Suck it, Team Cake and Team Pie
Ice cream is basically a pie/cake condiment
Everyone knows the best cole slaw is ice cream based
That's like calling Clark Kent "basically" a reporter.
Yes. He does that too.
Boo this man!! Team Pie FOREVER!!!
TEAM BURRITO, one tortilla to rule them all
If it's not turkey leg flavored, then i don't want it
Though it would probably go against Homestead Creamery's values, I think a VT inspired ice cream should involve bourbon. Something like Bourbon Brown Sugar would be excellent. Either way, I'll definitely be grabbing some when it hits stores. Homestead Creamery is fucking delicious.
Edit: Here's another link I found on the story. A little bit more detail; it'll be in shops early Fall and then grocery stores some time later this Fall

I think an ice cream with some element of bourbon flavor incorporated would be awesome, but what makes you think a sugar & fat dealer would be opposed to integrating an alcohol-associated flavor into one of their products?
Homestead Creamery is a religious family based company I believe. Their store near SML has some Mennonites working in it and I think several of the farms they get their milk from are Mennonite as well. Alcohol is a big no-no to those types so I'd guess they'd look down on a bourbon branded flavor, even if there's no alcohol in it and it would just mimic the flavor.
An ex worked at Michael Simon's restaurant (Lola) when a guy she worked with invented maple bacon ice cream.
Maple flavored ice cream with a brittle made with bacon. Would probably go well with bourbon.
I quote this movie on the regular. Glad to see it being used for such a noble purpose.
The whole movie is so quotable. It's a shame it came out so long before the meme era or I'd be able to find gifs more readily.
Mrs MattBoard and I made some Brown Sugar-Bourbon ice cream not too long ago. I might be the best ice cream i've ever eaten.
Especially when paired with some apple crisp and a glass of bourbon
Care to share the recipe?
Buy vanilla ice cream, top with brown sugar and pour bourbon over it/s
Brown Sugar-Bourbon Ice Cream
Makes 1 Quart
Ingredients
Instructions
*if you do not have dark brown sugar, you can add 1/2 tbsp molasses to light brown sugar (1 tbsp per cup)
**the base recipe calls for a paltry amount of bourbon. Add more to taste. Too much will make the custard harder to freeze. Plus drink some bourbon while you are working.
***Again, not enough vanilla in the base recipe here. Add more to taste, i like using vanilla paste instead of extract. If you are using vanilla bean, incorporate it in the cream and remove it when straining the mixture.
Edit: typos and stuff
Well fiddlesticks.
I was with some of those people in that photo today and they said nothing.
I'll tell them all about it in the morning.
Roll em up. Administratively, of course
Oh, I did. Surprised you didn't flinch from the sting all the way out there in TX.
Of course a certain someone is probably going to come in here and deny it all.
007 style.
And you of all people shoul know that lose lips sink ships.
Glad you made it. Thanks for participation and feedback. Priceless
Loose lips sink ice cream.
