There is a great quote from Pry. "One of the things I look at first is this: I want to see guys running by people to get to the football, "Pry said. "No regard for their body." No matter what the outcome of each game this season, the defense playing with great physicality and pursuit will be my barometer of success this season.

So much this!
I don't care about the W-L so much as I care about our football players looking like football players doing football things. It's been a long minute since that has existed in Blacksburg.
All true, but then also care about the W-L a 'lil bit.
Yeah, we hate it too coach.
Serious question... what the fuck reason does VT have in any way shape or form to help ODU football? Seriously? Are we going to take their recruiting left overs? lol. Why don't we help UVA football along too? How about GT? Lets help each other. What the actual fuck? ODU gets 100% of the benefit in that deal. not 99..100% - vt gets nothing. WTF?
I feel the way it was sold to us was that we would be playing a game in a traditional hotbed of recruiting for VT, and that was supposed to be the main positive for VT.
Of course the first game we play there Fuente promptly shits the bed and it was the beginning of the end of his tenure as head coach at VT.
If NIL and super-conferences are going to turn college football semi-pro, then it stands to reason that G5 schools could become feeder schools for bigger programs. Ideally, ODU and VT work it out so that VT tells a kid that is super raw or doesn't have the grades to go to ODU for 1-2 seasons and if they do well they have a roster spot at Tech. Could even use similar schemes to make learning a new system much easier.
I'm not sure college football really truly gets pushed this far, but it can't hurt to start relationship-building for a situation like this. VT has been behind the eight ball on the arms race for the better part of 20 years now, it's nice to have someone looking ahead for once. Realistically, we shouldn't be competing with ODU anyway, so it shouldn't matter if we're doing camp together or sharing schemes.
Having joint camps with ODU would be a benefit as you get a place to host potential recruits in a hotbed area of VA and largely ODU and VT aren't going for the same guys so you might get some of those diamond in the rough 2*s that wouldn't come to a VT camp normally.
To continue this analogy, the Tampa Bay Rays aren't playing home and home regular season games against the Durham Bulls. There are ways to help each other out without scheduling this kind of poison pill series that only truly benefits the lesser school.
Pry seems to be talking about doing these things if we were not playing them regularly. A partnership on Camps and other recruiting activity could make a lot of sense. Deepen the reach into the 757 and the big dog takes the top of the litter and the little dog get's the leftovers. If you have to ask who the big dog is, then your not buying into Pry's vision yet.
build connections between coaching staffs. the grad assistant here could be a fit to get a full-time off-field role there, a position coach with a good developmental track record and good relationships in the hampton roads area could be a good addition to our staff in the future, etc
Summarizing from a previous post on this...
LSU does a lot of stuff like this with the directional and FCS schools in their state.
Just play hard, boys.

Man I hope so. Felt like so many times over the last few years players would just initiate the block with the offensive player rather than trying to get to the ball
