Didn't want this monumental landmark moment to be lost in the void of the FAM thread...
With last night's game, the official cross divisional rivalry between VT and BC has come to an end with VT holding a 12-8 edge in ACC play including 2 head to head conference title games.
May the series rest in piss

So are we not commenting here or did I just break the moment?
Will this hurt our recruiting in the Boston area?
I laughed, and then remember about Mike Sainristil... That's when I realized I may be message boarding too hard.
Don't worry about it. It's not a big college town.
~20 minutes of being posted before the first comment sounds about right for 20 games played.
Suck it, BC! The school the ACC made us have playdates with because we previously shared a sandbox.
Fuck Matt Ryan
These two schools have met 31 times since the series started in 1993. BC is VT's most frequent opponent over that span, thanks to those two ACCCGs (even though we tried to get away from them in 2004 by getting the ACC first).
The only schools to come close to that frequency with us over that same span are Miami and uva (both will be at 30 once we play them this year).
Unfortunately, we're still stuck with BC in 2023 under the divisionless format, yet we lose Miami from the regular rotation.
So in 2023, we'll have BC at 32, uva at 31, and Miami at 30.
In 2024, uva will be able to tie it up with BC at 32.
Unfortunately, 2025 will keep it tied at 33 as BC jumps back on our schedule. (But at least Miami raises to 31).
And in 2026, uva will be able to take the lead at 34, leaving BC at 33, and Miami raising up to 32.
All that to say, we won't have a team able to take the title of "most frequent VT opponent" until 2026 because the ACC sucks.
that people actually take the time to do this research, is part of the reason why i love this website!
great post, bluehokie!
If you push your 1993 date back to say, 1989 (the year I matriculated) or earlier, then UVA has always been the most frequent VT opponent.
Also, a moment of silence please for the SEC, who is no longer the nation's premier college football conference.....
The Fun Belt has arrived.

Southern Baptist Conference? Didn't Baylor LOSE to the Mormons..er BYU? /s
Why in the Sam Hill did they repeatedly show that godforsaken clip of Matt Ryan beating us in Lane and not ONE clip of us beating them for back to back ACC ships?
Good riddance. Go back to playing ice hockey.

really thought we were gonna go with an M here
That was my hope as well, but this will do.
oh good grief everyone's a critic
not criticizing, just commenting :)
i mean, its not really a "rivalry" but we been playing them regularly since beast days
More of a series than a rivalry. Like with ECU, except not quite as annoying.

I know you said this with sarcasm, but the irony is that It's not so much a monumental landmark as something many of us may not have noticed had you not brought it up.
If it turned out the way it should every year, with an automatic FBS win, I humbly suggest that most people wouldn't mind.
I don't so much mind playing BC, but we should be taking care of business like every year like we did this past weekend. Also, if we're going to have a permanently assigned rival within the ACC, I'd rather our PERMANENT partners be UVa and Miami.
That said, Hate On, mi amigos!
