Giftory for breakfast. What bourbon pairs best with that?

I humbly submit this candidate for your breakfast bourbon needs

Semi related - I don't know if I just got a bad bottle or what, but the Ironclad small batch is probably one of the worst whiskeys I've ever had. Tastes and smells like straight up Acetone. Couldn't even mix it because it just overpowered the taste of anything else.

That sucks, man especially knowing what you probably paid for the bottle. Ironclad's local to me and I've had a few of their products so I thought I'd give them a plug. I'm not an aficionado by any stretch.

In all fairness, I've usually only ever heard really good things about their stuff (especially the Maple and Coffee bourbons), but I wasn't a fan of this particular bottle. Could be a bad bottle, could just be me, but I don't know that I'm willing to spend another $40 to find out. I will say, their bottle design is pretty awesome though. The label is a double label, so you can peel it back and they have the schematics of an ironclad vessel on the inside.

I did some work right there in Newport News a couple years ago and was about 2 blocks from the distillery, so I swung by and grabbed a bottle one day before heading back up the road.

My mother-in-law bought a bottle of the small batch for my father-in-law for Christmas the year Ironclad opened and made a huge show of it. They were really excited since they're from Newport News and are bourbon people. The whole family poured a glass. It unfortunately turned out to smell and taste like how I would imagine gasoline would. It has become a family joke now, but I have only ever heard good things about them and I always assumed it was just a young bottle and they hadn't ironed everything out yet. I have been meaning to pick up another bottle to give them a second shot. Thanks for reminding me.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

Yea, my experience was similar. Really wanted to like it, loved the packaging, just not worth it for the product. That was also almost 4 years ago at this point, so it may have improved with age. I'd try it again if I saw it at a bar/restaurant for a decent price, but I don't know that I'll pick up another bottle of it.

Jesus, their right tackle is gonna need therapy after being treated like that all game.

My favorite part of the Dax sack clip is Fuga shoving that RT on his ass. Watched it like 20 times.

And to be fair, they used multiple RTs. They all got handled.

I believe the term you are looking for is "Rented Mule"

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Why are we being so mean to rented mules? PETA would like a word.

We put the K in Kwality

PETA doesn't even want you to rent a mule. But what else am I supposed to rent? Blockbuster doesn't exist anymore!

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Fuga is soooo fast off the ball its not even fair.

Is coronavirus over yet?

it didn't seem to matter who we lined up against the RT, they instantly turned into Corey Moore against that BC front.

That's a great problem to have

Respect to the turkey leg keys.

Also, since the objective is noise, there's got to be a more productive option than shaking ghost keys.

That first GIF is genuinely hilarious. I think I count at least seven people waving imaginary rings. There's the dude waving glow stick rings and the girl nearby waving a piece of food (hard to make out what it is). We got the guy down in front going through a lot of trouble to loop his key ring around his middle finger, to of course then flip the bird. And then we have the guy on the left eating his turkey leg while waving his keys, which is a graduate-level Hokie move.

Speaking of graduate-level, how-bout that elder Hokie in the front row of the student section gettin after it in the second GIF

When I saw this live I was thinking, man it looks like a freshman waving ghost keys because it's his first home game and he forgot his keys, or only has one in his pocket, next to an experienced Hokie eating a turkey leg AND waving his keys. I still can't get over the "freshman" in his Bengals jersey waving ghost keys. Just yell, bruh!

Damn I've missed these! Here's to many more of these this season(yes the O and M glasses fit well this morning)

I can 2nd this one as well. My WVU coworkers got their tail tucking out of the way on Saturday to preempt any of my commentary this morning.

There are only so many Pat White references I can listen to in one day! Ha!

What else can you say about the D'. Felt like the old days. Can't wait to fill this team with Pry's recruits.

Offense looks better in Giftory than I remember. Here's to getting this O' chugging as the season goes on.

I am not sure what to do with my hands now

my only critique is that we don't get these often enough (but that's not really Joe's fault is it? Corbdogg21?)

Onward and upward

I love the fact that Garbutt rode him to the ground after spin-throwing him, instead of just letting go.

Simply put, that was...

Thanks Joe!

I feel like we could have had an entire giftory just of Garbutt's defensive highlight reel

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

It definitely feels like he is are most elite defender, and will likely get drafted pretty high if he keeps turning in performances like this.

it's a nice sentiment but he's small for the NFL (6'1 255 on Hokiesports) and he was recruiting class of 2017, so he'll be ~24ish by the time of the next draft which is old old. that said, i've been wrong before and i'll definitely be wrong again, and if he can play himself into legit high draft pick status, we'll all be happier for it!!!

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Vonnie Miller is both small and actually old. Always an exception.

"Don't go to, go through"

2 inches taller and 2 years younger when he was drafted. Elvis dumervil is probably the poster child for successful undersized DE (5'11, 260) and even after winning national awards at Louisville he was a 4th round pick at ~22ish years old. There are definitely notable outliers but they are outliers

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Darryl Tapp was measured at 6'2". 252 before he went 2nd round, and Garbutt is closer to his height than he is to Dumervil. Guess it depends on how much the scouts value one inch.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Tapp was 21 when he got drafted

Happy birthday to him btw!

MUTTS FOR GARBUTTS!

He's definitely looking more like the 4* prospect that he was. He never really looked like that under the old regime.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

The WR block on the King run was huge.

Not engaging the BC CB running himself out of the play and immediately switching to the safety with good positioning between the Safety and King was exactly what was missing in the past.

It's the kind of play you can't wait to see the next day in film review.

Man, so much this.

I missed the dog watching live (how?!)

I DID see coach Jones running down the sideline on that interception; which brought a smile to my face. He's still got some wheels.

GREAT down field block by Blue on King's run. Blue got a lot of love from the broadcast deservedly so. I love down field blocking.

Mad props to the fan with the keys AND eating a turkey leg. Thats how its done.

Holy sni-kees that one handed catch!!!

And, you get me every time on Giftory with the first picture: I stare at it for a bit until I realize its not a Gif.

What did you expect from Coach Cheetah?

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Only thing that will be better than this Giftory is when they are equal parts offense and defense. The defense showed up to play!

Question (and I should know the answer to this, but......): in the last clip, what is the girl behind Coach Pry doing? Is she keeping track of his microphone or something to that effect?

She may be the one who took the video/runs part of the social media accounts for the team. Looks like she had her phone out ready to take a video and the HokiesFB account sent out a close up video of Pry counting down and running out onto the field from about that angle.

I forget her name/handle but that's exactly who she is - she was there for the photos and to get that stuff up on Twitter/IG/whatever as soon as the game was over.

Edit: Her official VT title is Social Media Coordinator

Thanks, Nick and Rif. That makes sense.

uva - the taint of the ACC

Not having broadband right now, this took awhile to load but it was totally worth the wait. Thanks Joe.

What I think we're still in the process of figuring out is "is BC's Oline that bad or is our Dline that good?". To which I suspect the answer is probably both. Still fun to watch though!

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Jet Sweep

I think the BC OL is genuinely trash this year. During the game they put up a stat that going into this year their entire OL had a combined 4 games of collegiate experience which..... isn't great.

That said, our DL and LB did look pretty sharp, and made a bad OL look like a bad OL, which hadn't necessarily been the case the last couple years.

The PI on the "One Handed" sequence on Caleb Smith was so egregious. Should have been a flag for another 15 yards on top of the yards gained by the play.

Should have been a flag for another 15 yards on top of the cards gained by the play.

PI is an either/or penalty. It's not tacked on. You either take the penalty or the result of the play. But yea, it was bad PI and a baller catch.

πŸ¦ƒ πŸ¦ƒ πŸ¦ƒ

I think the point was that it was so egregious it should have been tacked on anyway, despite that's not the way its done.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Yes, I am just so salty that it wasn't called at ALL. It's a good thing the pass was so perfectly targeted, because Smith would not have had the ability to jump up or out for the ball.

My favorite giftorys are always the opposing QB getting abused.

Any night the QB is sacked multiple times is a very good night.

To be the man you gotta beat the man!

Reminds me of that time JT Barrett was picking himself up all night : )

Barrett's passing stats were brutal enoughβ€”he completed just 9-of-29 passes for 219 yards and one touchdown against three interceptions. The offensive line blocking up front did him no favors as the Buckeyes surrendered seven total sacks to Virginia Tech's defense.
