aTm is on of the Top Public universities in the national university rankings. Texas as a state has one of the best University systems in the nation. No reason to denigrate a whole state with an ignorant comment such as this.

Also the way they are about their class rings is kind of crazy. I'm sure there might be a number of you that got college class rings, but at most places it is not really a thing. But at aTm you pretty much HAVE to get a ring, and they make a HUGE deal out of it.
I got one... Stopped fitting once I got a job that required a lot of typing, and trying to get it resized is apparently enough of a PITA that I haven't bothered with doing it and basically just use it as a paperweight. I wouldn't mind getting one that is more of a signet ring, though.
VTCC gets class rings and it is a pretty big deal for us.
Cadet Tammies (thanks y'all for this) also make a big deal about their boots (juniors) & spurs (for seniors).
I will say this, I wish the HTs were as big as the aTm band. Getting closer, though!
I wish the HT's were the HTs again and not a line unit company/elective with instruments. Get off my lawn I know, but if you want a big band you have to make it an afterthought, I get it.
I did not realize that many people go rings. I guess amongst me and my friends at the time it was not a big deal.
If I was in the VTCC I for sure would have gotten a ring in that case.
At aTm though, it is seems to be more or less mandatory.
My VT ring is one of my prized possessions, and yes I still wear it regularly.
I'm wearing mine right now and can't remember when I last had it off. Couple of years ago at least and it was painful to remove with dish soap. Wish it was the original but that got lost during survival training in the forests of Elgin AFB back in 1987. If anyone finds it, the reward is still available.

clemson is the same. EVERYBODY gets a class ring. pretty sure they have a big ceremony handing them out. everything short of a parade to celebrate them.
My VT class ring is invaluable to me. It was my grandfather's who graduated in 1939, 60 years before me. It doesn't fit but I always keep it close to me.
In case anyone has the same issue as me having a ring that didn't fit preventing them from wearing it.
I just had pretty good experience getting my ring refitted through Balfour. Warranty is lifetime and I believe sizing is part of the warranty. All I did was drop it off at a Finks, they shipped it back, and I had it back within a few weeks. I think I only paid a small shipping/handling fee.

We got a new manager at work a few weeks ago. He works in the Austin office of our trendy tech company where exactly zero of the hipsters employed there give half a damn about the 'Horns.

In all seriousness, I've spent a lot of time around aTm alumni (former students?), and I've noticed a big difference between those who were in the Corps vs those who weren't. The former being generally awesome people, the latter being generally insufferable.
