It seemed like the whole 2nd half was garbage time lol...Seriously though I think we saw a lot of the upside of Wells and it was great to see Blue and Moss involved in the passing game. The OL is without question disappointing, Clements really stuck out in particular.
Overall, glad they kept everyone out who needed to be out and rest up and that they didn't chance things with Smith.

I thought Wells played better, though he still left a lot on the field. Bryce Duke showed some real shimmy, and that wheel route was something I haven't seen from a Tech running back this season. Blue, Moss, and Jones all had moments (including a rare slant to Jalyen Jones at the end of the game!)
Defense played well, all things considered. Depth is a concern but overall I'm cool with the game we played today. Keep getting better every week and we'll be okay. Glad to see that Pry didn't take this game lightly or laugh off some of the struggles like Fuente did against Furman and Richmond in the past.

On one hand I like the 11AM kick off cause it get the game out of the way. On the other hand I'm drunk by halftime which was at 12:10 and then it's difficult to do anything but continue drinking and watching football.
And FAM

Meanwhile our shop looks exactly the same while we see what feels like every other game today. :) we made more progress during the late spring when the Braves were struggling.

There's something special about the feeling of working in the shop smelling grease and wood chips on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with a Hokie game on a monospeaker radio.
There's my paradise.

We built lovely double aquarium stand in similar fashion April/May with the Braves on an ancient ghetto blaster complete with screwdriver antenna. I miss Hokies on the radio - I used to mute the TV for away games and have the radio on.

It was an ugly but still easy win against a bad team, where we were also clearly resting several banged up starters for Thursday's matchup, and giving some depth guys time to show their stuff. Duke and Moss in particular stood out to me as guys who probably made a case for more playing time in the future.
One thing I saw that no one else seems to be talking about: I saw Wells make a lot of check downs to the running back. It's not flashy but it's something QBs are taught to do to salvage otherwise broken pass plays. Given his interception troubles in the past I am almost certain this is something they must have been focusing on in practice.

FAM! Followed along with the game during a beautiful day on the beach, placed my first 3 bets on college football and won all three, and now I am $11.65 richer! 🤣

Obviously the offense needs a ton of work, particularly up front (what the heck is going on with that unit??). Two observations about the offense:
1. Wells was scanning the field really well today. I did notice a couple of instances, however, where he missed/overlooked what I thought should have been a primary read to a wide open WR and instead decided to make a slightly more difficult throw.
2. I love how hard Holston runs, but dang... I don't think I've ever seen an RB misread blocks so consistently. There's no telling how many yards he left on the field misreading his lead blocker.

ACCN needs to go back to selling Spurtles, Tac Shavers, the lights KingJames found in his house, and Alien Tape, and the sunglasses to bring in more money.

Won a game we should win, and did so comfortably. I'll take it over some of those games (*cough cough* Furman) recently. These are the signs of progress we all want to see.

FAM! Listened to the game via 105.3/Roth & Burnop since I had chores to do at home and we don't have broadband yet in this rural area. I was disappointed that our starters could not eek out a less than one yard gain on 4th down early on against a shitty Wofford team, which to me was very telling. But overall am happy for another no-turnover win at home.

FAM! However I would like to say that Eddie Royal was mvp. Told some hilarious stories during the broadcast, especially explaining his animosity towards kickers! 🤣
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
However, the kicker thing was a little weird. He said he hates when a kicker starts taking warm up kicks on 3rd down... When else is he supposed to?! If they don't convert, he's gotta run out to kick on 4th! Lol still one of my all-time favorite Hokies 😂.

I believe he said one specific kicker was disappointed he didn't get to kick a field goal after the team actually converted the third down. I get that. Seems selfish instead of being team first.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yea that part definitely made sense. The connection between that and kickers warming up on 3rd down is where I get lost lol I think it was just an excuse to segue into the anecdote which, again, I thoroughly enjoyed!

I noticed that we didn't have a "FoeRensics" article prior to Wofford even tho I cannot recall us ever having played them in the past in Football. Is that because "FoeRensics" is only for Away games?

Outside of garbage time, their offense barely had 100 yards and were nowhere near a threat to score.

We won!
Got the job done. Not always pretty, but we come out with a win.
Go Hokies, it's Hate Week (Cousins Edition)!

I believe king had a catch on a wheel route against Duke last year.
Moss looked good, Blue looked better and should have had a TD but wells forced it a bit down feels to Moss
Got in a solid nap during the 3rd quarter.
HOKIES
wam bam thank u fan
FAM. Good day so far.
Got to the gym early and did well. Also got my ammunition for the next hatin' on thread.
Watched VT win.
Got the lawn mowed.
Going to be doing some cooking later today.

BRING ON THE COUSINS
Any win is a good win FAM!
Took care of business FAM!
I'm drinking bourbon tonight because I want to, not because I have to.
You are drinking celebratory bourbon.

Short week, and then a real early season test.
I'm nervous, because there is still a lot of work to do.
But Pry is doing some good work.
Hokies win and the ACCN catches a fan with with VT shaved into his chest hair in the 2nd quarter FAM
Got my yard work done. FAM
Didn't get to watch as I was dealing with our Nissan's CVT warranty issue (I hate the goddamn CVTs)
But we won, and I'm coming home in 4 days.
So, FAM!
Just watched it on DVR due to sons football game today.
Not a thing of beauty but a W is a W FAM!!!
Took care of business. Hopefully the injury report isn't too bad going into Thursday night

Profit is profit!
Took the 8 month old and the 3 year old. They made it to half. Everyone around was great with them and we had plenty of room up in the nosebleeds.
And we won. Good day.
Glad to have the win FAM!

Undefeated in Lane - FAM
I would take undefeated in lane this season.
Terrordome baby. It would be amazing to be undefeated at home this year.
I missed the game because I went to UGA-SCAR with my dawg friends. I have since watched the condensed game.
Is Christian Moss our best receiver? FAM!
I had hoped that would be a better game, but UGA is just SO. GOOD.
must be nice, to have that kind of program.
Certainly must be. Well negotiated TV money can do wonderful things....
ACCN needs to go back to selling Spurtles, Tac Shavers, the lights KingJames found in his house, and Alien Tape, and the sunglasses to bring in more money.
Those tri burst lights are absolutely awesome, I will say that. And I'd be happy to take anyone into my garage to show them how awesome they are.
The Spurtle will catch on. Just one more season of ads and it's gonna take off, I just know it
Every time we joke about the shitty accn ads, I agree... but in thr back of my mind I remember wanting those lights in my attic...
They really light up my unfinished space. I've lived with them for a day and they seem to work well.
They're absolutely worth it. I got a 2 pack at Costco and put them in my garage. They help so much when I'm looking for something.
Is there a Spurtle IPO coming up? Please keep us up to date.
Yep, ticker symbol will be "ACC."
I forgot that Smart and Fuente were both hired in the same cycle. I'm going to go be sad now.
When you win the spread gets forgotten. FAM

I would have loved to see a score in the 3rd to show we handled every quarter, but yeah game never in doubt, solid win
STICKS, FAM!
The sticks are unbelievable.
You ever had bacon wrapped water chestnuts?
And "stick it in" chants made an appearance too!
Sprinkles!!!

Because sprinkles are for winners. That should be out sack and TD dance.
