As usual I feel like he's saying the right things. Biggest takeaways for me were his thoughts on the offensive side of the ball.
- Wants us to run the ball better
- Thinks we have been a little too predictable
- What we've been seeing the last 2 weeks is what Wells is
- (Paraphrasing) King should score twice a game

I just hope King is ready to go on Thursday. He was on the sideline all game with a towel over his head. He was wearing a uniform etc. So I am not sure if it was an emergency case he could have gone in or not.
If he couldn't go in, he wouldn't have been in uniform. I think he's good to go Thursday.
Hmmmm.... but I thought football was all about getting expected outcomes through predictable performances.... Who knew that changing things up would be preferable?!?
We really just have to start looking at the minutiae and execute the plays better. 3rd and QB run should never be stopped.
LUDICROUS BULLCRAP
Predictable > "doing the obviously wrong thing in an attempt to confuse the opponent" (and ourselves)
We learned that from Corny.
So, if I read between the lines here, he basically wants to have some variety on offense, just without getting too corny. Is that the measure of it?
I'm choosing to interpret it that way.
So what you're saying is that we should run jet sweeps to BOTH sides of the field?
Wait wait wait, what if we fake the jet sweep to the field and then actually run it to the boundary? They'll never see it coming!!!

PLAY ACTION PASS LETS GO
And wheel routes of course.
The variety I want to see on offense is this: on at least some 3rd or 4th and 1 situations, do not line up in the shotgun, snap the ball several yards behind the line of scrimmage and hand it to a back standing just as far or further behind the line of scrimmage so they can run up the middle or off tackle. Instead, let's practice - from under center - doing (1) a QB sneak, (2) a quick hitter with the RB or (3) a play action pass.
Going into Wofford, we ran the ball on 1st down like 70% of the Non-garbage time/End of half situations. The playcalling at start of the Wofford game was very clearly intended to break that tendancy. It also made sense with Thomas and King out that they would throw the ball more. Get King back (and eventually - hopefully for ACC play - Thomas), and we have the ability to be more unpredictable.

And get in to start jumping early.
You wouldn't download a car.
The **** I wouldn't.

There is this high level of anxiety and anticipation for any game, but it damn near triples for WVU.
We need to get that 1 yard at the goal line.
Waiting for Malachi Thomas to show up like:
Is that the faint whistle of a hype train I hear, echoing through hill and dale?
Can we stop trying to run 4th and short out the gun?
I'll never understand this. Back up 4-5 yards to get 1 yard... Yes I know they saw it allows play/o-line to develop, but it also allows defense to penetrate backfield longer/blow up the play.
Just line up under center and QB sneak it. If you can't get 1 yard (especially against inferior teams/talent), that's unacceptable.
Some teams don't practice taking snaps under center. Also, if you don't believe that your OL is better than their DL, it probably makes more sense to put the ball in the hands of one of your skill players, and give them the space to get a running start.
At this point in the season, we're working with what we got. If giving an RB the ball is more likely to get a conversion than (this) OL getting enough push for a sneak to work, we should be handing it off to the RB every time.
Do we have an ETA on Thomas' health? What exactly is his ailment?
"He's a fast healer and a real tough kid" and "ankle" are the answers we have for those questions I believe.
He still has hair on his face. We're good.
visible relief
love that the VT Youtube channel updates the pressers almost immediately. I can listen when doing stuff around the house.
Oh yeah and King will score
Definitely a marked improvement even since Spring camp in the quality and quickness they can get stuff up on YouTube. I could've sworn they had a better mic for the beat writers last week because I could actually clearly hear the questions. I don't know what happened on that front this week.
Sounds like Bitter brought his own mike. The rest of them were still difficult to hear.
I hope we get to see this on TV
love his twitter handle
I love all of this.
Tech basketball don't care about coverall's they see it as hype. And they are right. Atmosphere going to be on fire.
Anyone catch that Coach knew about PFF? That's an upgrade right there.
