50/50 shot we Keep Javon Harrison

I think we are gonna lose this kid. Hes now looking at Fsu, Louisville, along with Florida and also USc. He has been committed to us for a long time, but its been no secret he has been lookn at other schools

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Don't be so gloomy on this, recruits look at other schools all the time and we have the best opportunity for early playing time. Believe in the guy

Hes already scheduled an official visit for Fsu

LOL

FSU got a commit from a top WR prospect today, so that certainly can't hurt our chances.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Florida isnt a factor. FSU is main threat but Louisville is a new name .. hadnt heard them as real option before.
VT has the advantage of being removed from his home state (family wants those distractions gone) and his relationship with TG and coaching staff, in general.

My belief is javon may prefer fsu after visit but still comes to VT, due to factors listed above. Imo, he is most important recruit in this class. I live in southern florida, know 2 HS coaches. They both raved about his potential.

Hope we continue to impress upon him and his family how important we feel his is to VTs next 4 years

Louisville is going to lose Charlie Strong in the next year or two. I would be surprised if he isn't on the Texas list or potentially going back to Florida next year.

Plust they lose Bridgewater....thats a major impact also.

VHokie

more like they lose him NOW

This dude is always a major Buzz kill. Always posting these lame ass debby downer forums. Seriously though, let's just focus on getting Nnadi and Maynor.

Pour some Beer on it

nnadi and Minor*

Alright, enough with the "Debbie downer" mislabels. Jeez.

in reality "we" don't need to focus on anything. I'm sure the coaching staff is on top of everything.

Don't hate the messenger lol But after the rivals insider I just got on Harrison, It would give you reason to doubt

Let's wait until signing day to spazz out, yes? In theory every single one of our commits could go elsewhere. Let's just see where things fall. Us freakin out about it on January 2nd achieves nothing.

Please don't post premium content, or insider information behind a paywall from another site here.

I haven't posted premium content. Just posting what everyone knows about Harrison already. Hes been really public about that and looking at other schools

I wouldn't put too much stock in Rivals, especially their predictions. I think they secretly have Mark May working their system.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

Nah they are pretty good. They don't really do predictions like 247 sports.

Do you follow Mike Farrell on Twitter? Because if you did, you'd see that he does predictions, and he started out 0-4 yesterday during the UA Game. We have covered this a million times, but the recruiting sites are both a blessing and a curse: They provide greater access to recruits and coaches than ever before, but they are still a business and are racing to catch eyes and increase readership. We should all take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt, regardless of the source, until signing day.

In the end, I think we can all agree on the fact that Harrison is a must get and the staff will have to work their tails off to make sure he ends up in Blacksburg.

I don't care for mike and I never have. Dude is biased beyond measure. The guys I follow are straight with us and unbiased because they are not hokie fans. So we get it straight. But I 100 percent agree with your post. The whole recruiting world is crazy until signing day. Ive seen so many flips and de-commits its not even funny. Harrison does have a strong relationship with Torrian Gray

Yeah - I'd bet the mortgage on Rivals insider info.

I guess as a fan I can continue to hope we get him. If we don't we don't. I'll never understand why a top tier WR would come to VT, especially since other schools play more spread attacks and vertical. But maybe we could change our plans if we get a kid like this to stay.

The Dude Abides

I agree our offense hasn't done anything on the field to entice a WR prospect.

But off the field, I could see a top recruit really liking Moorehead's enthusiasm and being sold on the opportunity to be "the guy". Maybe they even follow recruiting and see potential in the future QB & O-line. But I agree, it's a tough sell.

Leg for you

Actually, we have attempted a lot of passes this season. Much more than in past seasons. So a beast receiver has an opportunity to play immediately and potentially put up big numbers with all of the pass attempts he'll be getting.

That is what I meant by "opportunity to be the guy".

And even with attempting more passes, we are not completing them for huge numbers or points. No one in their right mind has been amazed by our offense. It has been tough to watch.

Thats why I say its a tough sell when a recruit is also considering a team like Clemson, Florida State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Missouri, etc. You go to those teams and you know you can put up huge numbers as a wide receiver.

Leg for you

But do you think this is a shift in our offensive identity, or a by product of having a lack of a running game? It started last year with the running back by committee that never really got going and bled over into this year where LT was still the battering ram on any down and distance inside 3 yards. Does anyone believe we are going to shy away from the power running game? I'd like to see us become more balanced, but I think it would be tough for Frank to get away from his bread-and-butter. Although, he did bring in a new OC, so he is mixing it up.

The Dude Abides

If you really want to know the vision of the offense, go watch the Miami game from this year.

I think our coaches are dying to have a strong running game again. Loeffler seems to favor a balanced attack that begins with the run. But unlike his predecessors, I think we are all hoping he is more creative and knowledgeable. There is no reason we can't play smashmouth football like we used to and also have a more sophisticated passing attack. We can do more than a Boston College offense because we have athletes. Players like Carlis Parker for example have so much speed and moves and are just starting to be used (anyone remember his HS tape, it was out of control).

I think back to the year we played Boise State (sorry to bring it up). They had Doug Martin running behind a good Oline and Kellen Moore picking defenses apart. They used their tight ends really well and killed everyone with speedy receivers (Titus and Pettis) running short/intermediate crossing routes. Kellen Moore was smart and accurate, but not NFL prospect size. Chris Peterson was really creative. I think Andrew Ford could be similar to Kellen Moore (although bigger).

Record aside, I just want to see a 2014 where we can get excited when Tech has the ball and the offense shows lots of promise for the future. Then in 2015-2016 I want to hear Mark May talk about how the Virginia Tech offense finally grew up. And then I want to have a TKP tailgate at the NC game.

Leg for you

1 Mark May is an idiot and always will be. 2 Lefty had a great game plan for UCLA and we saw it for about 1.5 quarters then it went downhill. I honestly think we would have won that game had Logan played the whole game.

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

And conversely, that is why it is easier for us to recruit defensive players and running backs. Our offense has been lackluster and our defense has been lights out.
Maybe Ford or Durkin can change this up for us. I do think we need to open things up offensively a little bit for sure.

VHokie

Charlie Strong might be going to the NFL so Louisville might be out, FSU he could be buried on the bench... UF is a joke and people are decommitting left and right and then there's USC who every year does something stupid for attention...

I like our chances

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

I like this in theory, but its only because it has painted a rosy picture of VT. The reality is UF, FSU, and USC have all played in the title game more recently than VT and are much bigger programs.

The Dude Abides

UF won it with Urban Meyer and a great QB, they're an absolute joke now 4-8 and they just hired a new OC don't see that working out to well. FSU- well they're FSU who can "lose" to any team on any given day except this year. USC- is a good team and has had great WR.

I thinks its between FSU USC and VT. I could see USC VT but FSU idk about that they have 1 sr WR but he could be drawn there with the hype of catching from Jameis

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

After hearing that him looking at Florida schools was due to family situations, I kind of gave him a pass. I'd love to have him, but if you need to be home to take care of bidness, then so be it.

I think hes torn, cuz part of him wants to stay him to take care of his child and there is another part of him that wants to take him and his child elsewhere to get away from the bad influential people that surrounds him

Wait a second....so you are diving into the conscious of this kid? Now you are an expert on Javon Harrison's friends and family....what in gods name are you talking about? This is the worst post ever...We should have a hall of shame on TKP

Is this dude a troll or something? Take it easy and take another shot of wild turkey.

it was in a football article some months ago that I had read. Cant member which one. Someone had posted it somewhere. He loves vt, but hes trying to take care of his kid. He also has a sick family member in florida as well. But mentioned he was also trying to get away from florida to get him and his kid away from the bad influences where hes from. And you should stop getting your panties in a bunch. Shits getting old

REMEMBER WE WANT PLAYERS THAT WANT TO BE HOKIES IF HE DOES NOT BUY THE RECRUITING PITCH , SO WHAT THIS CLASS HAS PLENTY OF TALENT WITHOUT HIM...

this is nonsense.

"Exit light..."

True- wr's Cam Phillips, Kendrick Holland and Jayln Bradshaw are studs and I'd guess Isaiah Ford flips from Louisville to us if Harrison flips

'Its easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you've got the stock market beat,
but the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat'

They absolutely have to land this Harrison kid. Phillips is a more well rounded receiver and a solid deep threat, but Harrison is explosive. I can't emphasize enough how much he reminded me of Cordarrelle Patterson. He could give the Hokies the explosive deep threat that will open up possession receivers and the running game. They didn't have that presence this year, and that is what allowed those unblocked defenders to get in the box and stifle the running game.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Is Ford not an option for replacement of Harrison?

Phillips will be a possession guy. So getting Harrison would be exactly what we need to compliment phillips

totally agree, but you should have read French's comment above you first

Does anyone think we have a realistic shot of keeping his commitment still?

I do, that relationship with Gray is real.

right now I think its 60-40 VT, but honestly recruiting is so difficult to gauge. But im already bracing to lose NNadi and Harrison. That way if they commit to vt ill be pleasantly surprised lol

60-40 VT? I thought it was like 70-30 FSU but then again I don't know much about the situation and I would put Nnadi at 60-40 VT.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I think we're past the point of committing (technically Harrison has been committed to us this entire time).

It's LOI or bust.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

I honestly don't think we get either of them. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see it. If we can pull Ford and McKenzie though it would lessen the sting considerably.

"I'll put a quote here to distract you from my inane comment."-Me

I wouldn't be surprised one way or the other for either of them. Recent reports suggest that Nnadi may be leaning more towards the Hokies again, but really it's anyone's guess where the two of them end up. The good news is that we've only got to endure another day and a half of this.

it was my personal opinion lol All I know is he has a very close relationship with TG, but I don't know if its strong enough to get him to stay at VT. He may wanna stay close to home idk

Oh I gotcha. Seems like it is very close between Tech and FSU.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Same goes for NNadi as well. A lot of people say FSU and a lot say VT so idk. This could either be a really good NSD or a really bad one

Isn't that always the case for NSD?

The Dude Abides

Not really for Virginia Tech. We're typically pretty set come signing day. This is the most exciting one I can ever remember.

“These people are losing their minds. This is beautiful.”

I was really excited for Stephone Anthony's decision and then crushed. This year I have the same amount of excitement for Nnadi and will once again be crushed if doesn't pick Tech.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

With the uncertainly regarding Nnadi and Harrison and gaining late with Isaiah Ford and McKenzie seemingly out of the blue, it does look like it could be a more interesting NSD than usual for VT.

That being said, we have a very solid class already and though it would be extremely disappointing not to close with these guys (especially Nnadi after losing other high level DL prospects from Virginia), I don't think we have a disaster scenario looming.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Don't forget Ray Minor! He is a big need.

Two years ago Caleb + Ekanem + Kirven decided on NSD.

We were pretty sure we had Caleb, thought Kirven was 60/40 VT and had no idea on Ekanem.

I recall that a lot of folks said Ekanem was going to Tech leading in to NSD. Agreed on the other two, although there was a lot of justified fear that Saban's lure would pull in Korven.

All that said, there are lots of scenarios here, but for me Nnandi is key. The others are important in their own ways, but he is a piece like Kendall was last year in putting us in position to compete on the big stage in a couple of years.

But, let's be clear.....I WANT THEM ALL.
