Syracuse moving into chip-shot FG range and they're still calling for slow-developing passes downfield and they take a huge sack. What on earth are they thinking? Run the ball, burn clock, and take 3 points.
Also, UVA has 11 penalties tonight. Guess the honeymoon is over for Tony Elliott? (too soon?)

Little OT here, but flipping around thru the Noon games and there are LOTS of empty seats abound.
I understand leaving early or not having a full crowd for an FCS opponent, but both Wake and Mich are ranked teams playing conference opponents, and there are large areas of empty stands.
I know the powers that be don't care about anything other than TV money at this point, but if overall interest declines, so does the TV money at some point.
Not only that, but these schools that are paying for seven figure stadium and facility upgrades have to see the insanity of watching them sit unused.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Kent State "Golden Flashes" (seriously?) have a couple of linemen I wish we could nab for ourselves. Never expected to see Bennett sacked today.

Georgia will pull away. Big mistake filled half and they are still up two scores.
Clemson Wake could stay close, but if Wake doesn't take advantage of their outside guys getting separation they will eventually fall behind. They are putting the defense back on the field quickly.
I haven't checked the Penn state halftime score but it looks like they are playing with their food a little too.
Sometimes noon games tend to have these slow starts for the favorite. I'd like to see a big sample on that to be sure, but I feel like that tends to be a thing.
edit: Just saw that Michigan 17 Maryland 13 score. That could be an interesting one as well.

Yeah, haven't been able/wanted, really to watch anything so that's largely just takeaway from the snapshot scores in the waning minutes of the 2nd half.
And my way of trying not to jynx the glorious chaos I hope for.
To chaos.

But don't we want Clemson to be dominant as far as conference power goes? I TOTALLY get wanting them to lose, but do we have to root for teams we wouldn't want to, like FSU and Miami 🤢🤮

I know Clemson isn't quite what they were with Lawrence, but man Wake is impressive. Never thought I'd be dreaming of when VT will hopefully be back at Wake's level..

I've long been a fan of Dave Clawson. Would be happy to see Wake win the ACC this season. I'm hoping Pry can figure out how to get the players he needs, develop said players and get us to a place where we can compete at a high level with a seasoned team.
We aren't necessarily like Wake, but we aren't big budget either. Wake has that development system working well.

Missouri could have won against Auburn on a 26 yard field goal, kicker who hadn't taken a practice kick any of that drive misses kick. Then Missouri holds Auburn to field goal in OT then when going for TD player fumbles ball at half yard line and Auburn grabs it for a touchback and win. Saves Auburn HC for another week.

One of Clemson's only chances to lose this season comes against a team that is 71st on the team talent composite.
Really showed in OT when that non-P5 looking corner got roasted in the first OT for a TD, and the tiny little #3 just got bodied by a tight end despite him not being open at all for the 2nd one.
Shame Hartman's great performance gets ruined by their G5 defense.

Feeling really happy for Hendon Hooker. He is playing so well for Tennessee. Actually makes me want to root for Traffic Cone U. That atmosphere there looks great today. I cannot believe Fuente ran HH2 out of town
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Watching Hendon makes me a mixture of sad and irrationally angry. How could Fuente and Corn not let that kid do his thing? Come on man. Happy for him, but still. It's like it's against the rules anymore for Tech to have a game changing QB, much less an offense of note.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Was coming to say the exact same thing. I find myself watching Tenn games just because I know he's on the team. It's great to see him playing so well but I find myself simultaneously happy that he's balling out and pissed knowing how it played out under CornFu
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The ACC is just trash, lol. Seeing as bad as it is now, I can't imagine what its gonna be like when that Big10/SEC money really starts to kick in and we're still suck on that putrid deal. *curses a pox on the House of Swofford*
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Happy for Hooker balling out at creamsicle U but it is seriously depressing to know we had him and ran him out of town. He definitely has a better roster around him so we likely wouldn't have seen this type of production. Wasn't the last head coach a QB whisper?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Honestly I think teams need to get their shots in at Miami while they still can. I think, like us, they are going to be very different and competitive on a more national level very soon.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Texas had maybe the most impressive drive I've ever seen at the college level to get into field goal range with like 20 seconds and no timeouts. They kick the FG as time expires to take it to OT and then fumble on the first play of OT. It's not often I feel bad for Texas, but yeah, I feel pretty bad for them after that one.

Best of luck to them. I wish Fuente had realized the significance of keeping Hooker in the fold. He might have saved his own career and a lot of pain for Hokie fans.
Those two guys together could have made a lot bigger difference at VT.

I like using humor and do it often. I think the challenge on here is that the /s doesn't always come through, especially since some people seem to think those things, and not in a sarcastic way. So I've learned to always use the /s.

It would be one thing if he played poorly at VT. Some times guys just need a change of scenery or different voices or a kick in the backside. It happens. He was really good here! Everyone other than the coaches saw it!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Fuente & Co. didn't bring enough talent to Blacksburg. But the talent they did bring they criminally misused or overlooked. Hendon Hooker might have been the best QB to come to the Burg since Tyrod, and they didn't think he was even worth playing. The guy is literally in the Heisman top 5 right now

Uva currently down 0-16, it's not much .. But it does bring some warmth to this cold soul.
UVA still sucks. That's comforting at least.
Edit: I'll gladly drink.
It can never be stated enough that Uva sucks.
Shoulda kept my mouth shut.
Yeah, I am already having a very not good Hokie football weekend. Seeing Syracuse crap this game away is damn frustrating.
(too soon?)
Garrett Shrader is having a terrible game. Happy feet and trying too hard to make plays. He is rattled and pushing and making HORRENDOUS calls.
Yeah, it's hard to watch. Syracuse is lucky to escape with a win here. But I'll take it, because it means UVA loses :)
Neither team should win this game but if someone is I am glad it is Syracuse.
Surprised Anae didn't go with the backwards pass to lineman down there.
It's hard watching this game and seeing all the orange and blue together.
Syracuse did not deserve to win that game. But you know who did not deserve to win it more? LOLUVa.
Live video from boohoo land:
I'm just glad Syracuse stumbled into that "win" sheesh. Lol
Just saw a sign on college GameDay that said, "Hooker causes a reptile dysfunction"
In regards to the Florida-Tennessee game and that was just...*chef kiss*
We got a giggle out of that one and the I'm in love with a Hooker" sign.
They were doing a piece with Hendon and he just said when he got COVID at Tech they came close to having to do heart surgery on him. Jesus
Wow, the coaching staff knew about this? Is that why he got the chills that one game?
If for no other reason, Corny should never coach college football again, at any level, because of the Hendon Hooker situation.
Yes, seriously.
Meanwhile Burmeister today went 13-24 for 65 yards with an INT.
Cornelsen shouldn't be allowed to show his face in public, let alone coach.
Braxton has a 22.7 QBR on the season.
I thought he wasn't even playing. Was this in clean up time?
He was the starter but got hurt last week, I believe.
Special teams on display in the early kickoffs
Which game you watching
Was scrolling through Hulu while at our third kids event of the day already and VT rugby is on ESPN+. Pretty cool to see.
Clemson isn't going to screw around with #21 WF. Up 14-0 really quickly. I remember when we could do that, I miss those days!
They are now screwing around, but Wake keeps missing their wide open deep shots, or Clemson is tackling their WR's.
This Clemson team would lose 3-4 games in a better conference.
*maybe I spoke too soon!
Little OT here, but flipping around thru the Noon games and there are LOTS of empty seats abound.

Not seeing that in Athens? This would probably be an easier week for tickets than the conference games though.
I do see a general trend of younger millenials and gen Z to be disinerested in sports in general. Not sure how that translates for the future.
It annoys me how good Marylands offense is
what's an offense?
What's a diorama?
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Kent State "Golden Flashes" (seriously?) have a couple of linemen I wish we could nab for ourselves. Never expected to see Bennett sacked today.
Just me or are these games closer than they should be?
Georgia will pull away. Big mistake filled half and they are still up two scores.

To chaos.
I'm sure y'all will be surprised to know that I'm definitely rooting for this Wake upset.
I'm on Team Chaos as always. Except my husband's alma mater - I have to share a house with him the rest of the week ;)
But don't we want Clemson to be dominant as far as conference power goes? I TOTALLY get wanting them to lose, but do we have to root for teams we wouldn't want to, like FSU and Miami 🤢🤮
I want Clemson dominant, and the entire ACC to be stronger, with VT leading the pack.
At the moment, I am NOT getting my wish.
But for this year and next year, I'm sort of OK with a weaker ACC if it gets VT some wins.
I know Clemson isn't quite what they were with Lawrence, but man Wake is impressive. Never thought I'd be dreaming of when VT will hopefully be back at Wake's level..
I'd be happy to get to the level of pretty much every ACC team other than BC or GT.
That's how bad it feels like things have gotten
I appreciate how you don't even consider uva an acc school
I've long been a fan of Dave Clawson. Would be happy to see Wake win the ACC this season. I'm hoping Pry can figure out how to get the players he needs, develop said players and get us to a place where we can compete at a high level with a seasoned team.

Omg mizzou

Miami has 3 turnovers against MTSU already and is losing 10-0 in front of an almost empty stadium.
The U is back!!!
Back to their old tricks.
Now 24-3. The U's backness lasted 3 weeks this year.
Devon Ford had 1 catch for 0 yards today, so there's that...
Honestly forgot about that guy. No ill will or anything, just haven't given him much thought and haven't heard much about him either
So Miami can't run the ball either.
at least my sister's inlaws are Tennessee fans so I dont feel as sad about hooker being gone
Feeling really happy for Hendon Hooker. He is playing so well for Tennessee. Actually makes me want to root for Traffic Cone U. That atmosphere there looks great today. I cannot believe Fuente ran HH2 out of town
Yeah, maybe it's combined with what happened on Thursday...I'm really hoping Hooker gets this win. I will not root for Vol fans though...just Hooker
Sorry, in a game of Tenn vs Florida, I still hope they both lose.
My Dawg spouse is still hoping for that exact outcome. I'm conflicted - made a lot of gator friends while working at Tech.
Watching Hendon makes me a mixture of sad and irrationally angry. How could Fuente and Corn not let that kid do his thing? Come on man. Happy for him, but still. It's like it's against the rules anymore for Tech to have a game changing QB, much less an offense of note.
For some reason, we couldn't have nice things under Fuente.
Was coming to say the exact same thing. I find myself watching Tenn games just because I know he's on the team. It's great to see him playing so well but I find myself simultaneously happy that he's balling out and pissed knowing how it played out under CornFu
Because they genuinely sucked at their job.
I think Fuente thought Hooker quit on the team where he was shaking like he was in that game.
And I noticed on ESPN they have a video on HH's leadership at Tenn. I mean, good grief.
...at least we aren't Miami losing to MTSU 31-10 at home bad...?
The ACC is just trash, lol. Seeing as bad as it is now, I can't imagine what its gonna be like when that Big10/SEC money really starts to kick in and we're still suck on that putrid deal. *curses a pox on the House of Swofford*
As bad as things were on Thursday night....we are still #1 in the Division going into October.
Also, pointing out, Texas' punter's name is Danny Trejo
Happy for Hooker balling out at creamsicle U but it is seriously depressing to know we had him and ran him out of town. He definitely has a better roster around him so we likely wouldn't have seen this type of production. Wasn't the last head coach a QB whisper?
Suddenly, Notre Dame looks like they have a football team against Carolina.
The ACC coastal is in a shambles. Dropping the division format is definitely a good idea.
Yeah, watching these other teams is giving me hope for that October stretch....yeah I'm drinking but screw it.
The ACC Wheel of Destiny lives.
MTSU is taking Miami to the woodshed right now. Damn, Cristobal looks like Miami's Taggart at this point.
I don't know, Miami has some athletes, and there's still a quarter to play.
Nope, they just let MTSU march methodically down the field. Miami is starting their yearly collapse.
Honestly I think teams need to get their shots in at Miami while they still can. I think, like us, they are going to be very different and competitive on a more national level very soon.
Their 5'7" 150lb WR had 2 catches for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lol
I'm a Blue Raiders fan! Refs all but gave a TD to mu and they still couldn't get it!
Watched the motion guy run right into the tailback. LMAO!
Bomb for a TD from the MTSU endzone!
da u bac?
Wow
MT not going gently into the good night.
Theyr'e raging, raging against the Canes.
This is the same MTSU team that JMU beat 44-7 (could have been worse BTW).
ACC is hot garbage.
Jmu might also legitimately be the best team in Virginia this year
LMAO! mu fumbles on the BR 1 yard line!
Somehow they reversed that call. The refs have been... not good... for this game.
Is TVD injured for Miami?
He got benched
Yo Tennessee is like the worst, but but but a Hooker caused a reptile dysfunction.
After mu last fail the announcer said that everyone was leaving. He didn't say that it was Hundreds leaving.
That was probably the lamest crowd I've seen at a P5 game...
MTSU

When and how did Kentucky crack the top 10???
Stunning Development Today
Lol, the entire Coastal Division (except Pitt over Rhode Island) lost this weekend. Go ACC!!
So what you're saying is...we don't have to be awesome....we just have to suck less
Jerry World tonight, is some of the best College Football of the year.
It doesn't get more crushing for a kicker than that
ACC coastal is definitely trash. Probably the worst division, top to bottom, in fbs. It's a sad state of affairs.
VT might win 2 or 3 more games this year just because of how bad this league is. It's kinda wild, tbh
We find a way to get 6 Ws this season, and I'll be more than happy.
You mean the division that the Hokies sit atop all by themselves? Charlotte here we come!
The ACC Wheel of Destiny
Tayvion Robinson went off for 147 yards 2TDS last night for Kentucky
Robinson and Hooker both doing very well in their new SEC homes
Best of luck to them. I wish Fuente had realized the significance of keeping Hooker in the fold. He might have saved his own career and a lot of pain for Hokie fans.
Those two guys together could have made a lot bigger difference at VT.
Watching those 2 go off this year makes me so happy for them.
And then makes me wonder what we all did to Justin and Brad for them to hate us so much as to destroy our program.
Yes, they intentionally sabotaged our program because they hate us so much, while possibly ensuring they never work again at the same time.
They didn't have anything against us, Corny just sucks royally and Fuente was too loyal to him, at the expense of his own job.
Yeah, I kind of left the /s off for kicks.
I like using humor and do it often. I think the challenge on here is that the /s doesn't always come through, especially since some people seem to think those things, and not in a sarcastic way. So I've learned to always use the /s.
I'm happy for HH.
But the whole thing makes me so angry. He should be doing that here, not down there wearing the color of peach Burnett's
It would be one thing if he played poorly at VT. Some times guys just need a change of scenery or different voices or a kick in the backside. It happens. He was really good here! Everyone other than the coaches saw it!
This.

you sir have hit upon the source of my fury.
On the bright side...Go Birds
Hear hear
The final KSU TD in the OU game was called by Colin Klein, their OC, and it was the same play he ran to seal the win against #6 OU on Sept 22nd 2012.
I saw this mentioned on Reddit last night, super cool!
