According to Andy Bitter the Blacksburg High kicker committed to Tech as a preferred walk-on. Welcome to the family, Carson!
Carson Wise, the Blacksburg High kicker who committed to the #Hokies, kicked 55-yard FG in September. In VHSL top 10 with 32 career FGs.— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) February 4, 2014

2015?
2014 per rivals.
...How many kickers do we have coming in this year?
More than UVA fans at a spring game, that's for sure.
Speaking of spring games....
Think if you are a young 2015 Stud Recruit from the 757 and you get to meet Mike Vick in Beamers office. Thats HUGE for these young recruits!
Hell, I'm excited to see him.
2 that I know of. I can't remember the other guys name but I think he's from North Stafford?? IIRC he also had a pretty solid resume. It's nice to see that Beamer is trying to address some of the woes we've had on special teams.
Now that I think about it, we can almost field an entire ST unit with just the incoming running backs. With how athletic they are that could bode well for us. :p We've certainly been lacking in the talent department and that shows up in the most glaring way on special teams (or not so special teams, depending on how you see the glass)
EDIT: I forgot about Slye, see below.
-Michael Santamaria
-Joey Slye
-Carson Wise
Slye was an all-state kicker and linebacker so if he doesn't win the kicking job, then I suppose he could play LB full time? I mean we all know we need depth at LB.
The Slye kid can be the next Jack Tyler, who can kick
I thought we already had a Hughes that was a jack Tyler that can kick.

One of them would make a great tight end, for sure
Are you sure we shouldn't be looking for our QB of the future out of this group?
I googled just to see if any of them actually played qb and found this. LOL

"Headlined by quarterback and kicker Michael Santamaria, who committed to Virginia Tech as a kicker in July.."
looks like we got us a QB!
Sounds like he'd make a good tight end
Awesome! Welcome to Hokie Nation Carson!
With a name like that, you know he's going to work out great for the Hokies!
A 55 yarder in high school? Isn't that kind of a big deal?
Is this our next kicker?

Frank is going to be in heaven with all these new kickers they're bringing it.
My money is on Michael Santamaria, He also kicks 55 plus and is very accurate. We got 2 good kickers tho
I actually saw him make that kick (was against Radford). He had just made a 40+ yarder (45 IRRC). He made that 55 look easy. I'd say it had another 10 yards on it (so in reality it had another 5-7)...yeah, was off a tee, but still very impressive. When I got home I looked him up and he did not hold a VT offer. I was shocked. If we lost this kid in our own backyard...yikes!
Glad to have him aboard. Strong leg, ball really boom off his foot, good height.
Santamaria is the real deal. Kid has a gifted leg!
I did play-by-play for Blacksburg High School this year, so I saw the 55 yarder first hand. I know this is said by everyone who has ever seen a long field goal, but the kid would have knocked it through from 60 easily. Fun fact, he was also on the Bruins' punt block team and scored on a blocked kick in the same game. I'm a huge fan.
^^ My Man.
Welcome to Hokie Nation, Carson! Always glad to have a talented special teamer join up with Beamerball.
Welcome Mr. Carson! Please carry on the tradition of fantastic special teams play and make us proud you are a Hokie!
Now, can we just block some kicks this year?
