Great article, Andy. It shocked me to see how little those two classes produced compared to the ones before. Recruiting seemed to get lazy in 2010 and 2011, lets hope that never happens again.

I think every fan and recruit knew that VT had gone stagnant over these years. It's amazing to see just how little these recruits have been able to contribute, but I am REALLY excited about this years class.

It seems the nature of recruiting in general has 'evolved' since 5+ years ago.
A recruit in '14-'15 is a much different target than in '06-'07 (thanks twitter etc.)
As with coaching, recruiting was stuck in its ways up until recently.
It will be interesting to see how these numbers change (improve) with the new coaches.
GO HOKIES!

Glad to see that the numbers confirm what all fans had suspected.
I think that these new coaches are doing a great job jump-starting the recruiting. We might not be in the top 10 in class rankings, but we never were, and the staff improves players better than any staff in the ACC. Hopefully we rope in some of the skill guys we are after, and of course Nnandi (sic?) would calm a lot of nerves. The good news is they saw the issues forming and took action to correct it. Might have been a few years too late, but better late than never.

Ah, I see what you did there. You read too far. there's an unsaid rule about all Bitter articles: Never read the comments
For some reason he has some of the most misinformed, ignorant, chicken-little shitheads in all of Hokiedom commenting on his blog. Don't even get him started on Jennie, whom he had to threaten to ban from making comments. maybe he's already done that. Some TKP faithful like the FifthFuller try to comment time to time to make AB's life better though.

Since we went Facebook style with them, nobody comments anymore. There's like 1 or 2 trolls who post infrequently, but mostly the comments section is dead.

ESPN did the same thing..at first I hated it because I really didn't want to have to sign in through FB to post (I also didn't really want my life to be associated with everything I said on ESPN) but it ended up being a blessing. I found TKP so I now have access to all the information (and a lot more) I need/want and I never have to go over to ESPN ever again. It's kind of awesome!

very interesting article. i knew that we were scraping the barrel but i didnt know it was that bad.
i think this class is absolutely going to turn that trend around....especially when Hand shocks the nation and commits to us tomorrow.
Why does everyone keep saying that
Power of positive thinking!
They're turkey leg fishing.

This isn't something I've heard before (or not presented this way, anyhow). Typical Bitter Blog Troll?
hahaha, either that or deluded nincompoop looking for a scapegoat, and unaware that we already found ours in Newsome.

I usually grab a bag of popcorn before reading the comments.
I'm pretty sure AB grabs one of these before he starts reading though

I bet that's doing wonders for your blood pressure.

Shane Beamer's name popping up a lot on that commit list, also.
This makes even less sense when you consider that Shane wasn't even on staff when the 2010/11 classes were recruited.
