The lads has done it again! This time it's the number one heavyweight in the country and the number 5 overall wrestler in the country Jim Mullen! And as GobbleGobble pointed out he is also gonna be on the football team as a Defensive end. Another big get by this top notch coaching staff!

Sweet! We already have a good class so is this gonna put us over the top?
Probably puts us in the top 2 or 3 overall for the 2023 class
This recruiting class is stacked. Big class with a ton of talent.
Its probably gonna be tomorrow but I'll give yall a little preview. He's the number 1 Heavyweight recruit in the country and the number 5 recruit overall ๐
Interesting - does that mean Catka drops weight to 197. I thought he had 2-3 years left and was a top prospect himself.
Well here's the crazy thing. Parker Ferrell From Christianburg is the number 4 hwt in the country and he's a hokie commit as well๐ he's 2024 tho so we still got 2 years until he's in college
Also I don't think Catka can drop all the way to 197. I think we see if he's taking the jump we expected from him this year or he might be bumped out. Or another situation is the recruit takes a redshirt and Catka for 2 years at HWT but if the recruit is ready to go its gonna be hard to keep him off the mat
197 will be Smith/Howard and then probably Sasso. I am pretty sure they want TJ Stewart at 184, he's probably a little short for 197.
I am liking what I'm seeing!

Still waiting ๐
Come on! Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!
So football scholly and elite wrestler. Interesting.
Assuming we're talking about this -- are we certain it's not a "try out for the football team" kind of thing? He's unrated on 247 with just offers from Rutgers and Temple reported.

You are Correct! Sorry I'm late on my own thread ๐๐ญ
Jim mullen is a 2 time New Jersey state champion at heavyweight and last year he won a Silver Cadet (basically u18)world medal and the Greco Roman Bronze cadet medal
Glad to see a Jersey Gem headed to my beloved Hokies!
Hokies wrestling been having a pretty good pipeline from New Jersey lately. Mekhi lewis, Eddie Ventresca, Brandon Green, TJ Stewart and now Jim mullen ๐
Is it really smart to risk someone from the wrestling team on the football team? Wrestling has looked like our best shot at a national title for several years and football is not kind to the knees.
Tbh I don't think he is going play any snaps
That was kinda my question above -- "we'll give you a shot to try out and if you play your way onto the team then you deserve it"... If he's on the fb team hes on fb scholly, which if that happens it would surprise me
He's actually gonna be on a SERTC scholarship
Idk what that is but cool
Something to do with the Southeast regional training center. But it won't take up a football scholarship
So that sounds like he won't be on any athletic scholarship and SERTC provides a technically "unaffiliated" scholarship for college.
Yeah makes me think after his football season he's gonna forgo the last year of High school wrestling and come here and start training
Kinda what Caleb Henson did last year

Trying to find out who else recruited him in wrestling. I hope osu did!
Edit: FB had Army, Temple, Rutgers and Kent State trying.
Wrestling he said BIG as a whole mentioning MI, PSU and Rutgers.
He's gonna wrassel!

Link won't work.
absolute beast. unbelievable recruiting going on in wrestling. thanks for the info!
TOP RECUIRT
With him wanting to play football, doesn't he have to go on a Football Scholly?
Not if he's not playing
