Pry-ssr Vulfpeck 2022

I stopped my takeaway list about halfway through the video. Pry gives a lot of good insight into the bye week and the coaches' adjustments and I didn't want to end up paraphrasing the entire press conference. Definitely worth a listen IMO.

Some takeaways:

  • Strong very doubtful
  • Garbutt expected to play
  • King questionable
  • Chatman probable
  • Expect increased playing time for the younger DBs as the season goes on
  • Challenging the WR group outside of Smith to be more consistent
  • Looking at different punt returners outside of DJ, expect to see 1-2 new guys back there
  • 🚨Big news for some posters on here, looked into the I-formation in the bye week🚨
  • Big screw up on my part, Pry says they were looking at personnel by formation not looking at the I formation. I am embarrassed and apologize to everyone

Really hope we see some animal spirits out there this week. I'm also hoping the offensive playbook gets funkier and Thomas goes beastly on Saturday.

Here lies It's a Stroman Jersey I Swear, surpassed in life by no one because he intercepted it.

Well just in case I know I won't be the only TKPer with something in my back pocket Thursday evening.

You know we're birds of a feather just hoping to get back to watching the beautiful game. Lots of people out there content to wait for the moment and give Pry &Co the captain hook, but baby i don't know -- think our kicker has a game winner in him

as long as those animals aren't opossums or sloths

Thomas goes beastly on Saturday.

Doing that in practice won't help win the game. Hope he also goes beastly on Thursday night under the lights.

Interested to see how the possibly incorporate Thomas and King in the backfield at the same time, they're two of our best playmakers. Although the I formation certainly would not be at the top of my list of how to use them. I would have Thomas be my primary RB and King move around the backfield kind of like Percy Harvin at Florida (H Back, Wing Back, Jet Sweeps, flex out to the slot, etc).

Using King as H back makes more sense to me than installing the I-form over halfway through the season. Pry brought up double TE sets too, but honestly King is a better blocker and playmaker than any of our TEs.

I was thinking the same. With all the other offenses out there, when does the I formation come back as something new? At this point, no one has seen it regularly for a long time.

I want to see the old Tecmo Bowl Pro Set, but take the 2nd RB/FB and make him in H Back that can line up anywhere. Or sub him out for an extra OL when you need some road graders.

I think the formation will be around forever (just like the single wing for example) but I don't think we'll ever see it used the way it was 20+ years ago.

If your skill players have any athleticism, there's just better/simpler ways to set them up for success.

"Don't go to, go through"

What's funny about the I formation note is that Nick Saban said during the Tennessee game, the players didn't know what to do when TN lined up in the I.... Oh how the game has changed.

All things old come back again. Failure on the DC to not have them be able to recognize and have at least some idea what do for all the different formations.

"All," you say?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

where was the I-formation talk? I tried to find it, couldn't. There was talk about adjusting away from a two-tight look (but not into anything specific) and talk about potentially having King and Thomas on the field at the same time (but not in any specific formation).

I-formation would not make sense for this team's personnel (who would be the blocking fullback???), but IDK. I think they need to incorporate more RPO with 3 wide, trips, or King in the slot/H-back. They need to go modern before they go retro.

Well I am a dummy. At around 7 minutes he talks about looking at personnel by formation and I misheard that. I will correct my post to not get everyone too hyped up.

Edit: and thanks for pointing out my error BTW.

First step to the right, big smile boys!!!

This was the funnest concert I've ever been to!!!

I watch the MSG show on YouTube every couple months probably. Looked like an absolute blast to be a part of.

If u watch around 1:23:40 or so (as Theo starts to lead the three part harmony for Christmas In LA) off to the right (over Theo's head) you see a bunch of dweebs doing the cell phone squares with Red and Green -- that was us lol
