This is our lack of complementary teams. First half D plays great, O does nothing (D on the field 18 mins). O comes out get a lead, D stops being aggressive, O starts playing safe and doesn't do anything (-2 yards). Special teams shits the bed the hole time.

Yeah I'm with you at this point. Bowen doesn't need to be OC moving forward, and I'm for moving on from Holt. Special teams are absolute trash. Marve either needs to take over defensive playcalling or we need to hire a DC to call plays. Pry can't keep spending all his time being a de facto DC when he has a long ways to go grasping the game management aspects of being HC. And I don't know what to say about Rudolph other than it just might not work out. So disappointing.
I think we were all excited about the Rudolph hire.
But the results on field so far make me seriously question if the guys resting on his Laurels at this point.
There's simply is not a reasonable explanation that players who played well last year are playing terrible this year and can't even figure out how to get a snap off legally.
I have heard from a buddy of mine who is close with some people around the Wiscy program that they weren't exactly upset to see him go. Wisconsin players/alums are usually fiercely loyal to that program, and for him to suddenly leave like that was very unusual.

I'd like to say that disappointment is progress from nihilistic apathy and cynicism. That third-quarter offense shows up again for a full first half and you're talking about an absolute blowout. Our two best backs were knocked out of the game by the most pivotal plays, if they stay in it's a totally different story.
This is what progress looks like. This is what a culture shift looks like. This is what changing the program's trajectory from 5-6 win mediocrity to competing again for ACC championships and at-large bowl bids looks like.
A loss can only hurt when you have hope. The fact that this loss hurt means that we've started to turn a corner.
I'll buy the culture shift BS when the team actually shows a tiny bit of discipline. Until then, the culture is very much the same as it's been for the last few years. Tonight was not evidence of a turned corner only affirmation that we are currently still a sinking ship.

as bad as we've been, with better coaching we would be 5-3 right now, Miami was close, Pitt was winnable, we were up 21-3 in this game

Eliminating dumb plays gets us ODU back, too.

Nc state woke up. Turned on the heat and we shriveled up - that's the culture. We didn't meet their intensity - we withered.
Out played by a good defense I can take in the 4th quarter. But to let a freshman backup QB make the defense look bad is disappointing.
This game was very disappointing.
