In the Buffalo-Ohio game you missed out on the smoothest talking ref in football. It was the clearest field mic I have ever heard. Dude sounded like he was giving an interview on NPR.

UGA beats UT -> Wins SEC East on tie-breaker to UT.
Alabama wins remaining games -> Wins SEC West.
Alabama beast UGA in SEC Championship. You can end up the season (potentially) with UGA, UT and Alabama all with 1-loss to each other. How many make the playoff and who are they? Recency bias tells me it would be Alabama and UT (in this scenario).

So much this.... Sun Belt is entertaining and highly underrated. I would take the points on any Sun Belt vs ACC matchup. Unfortunately, the ACC is weak AF. Got me missing the old Big East.

Watching UF-A&M and I don't think Napier would have been any better for us this season. They run similar plays that don't work, they false start a bunch, their oline looks shaky at best. The biggest difference is Anthony Richardson is way better than anyone else on the field.

I'm not watching the Northwestern Ohio State game (can't flip to it because I'm streaming the Tech game on ESPN app) but the weather in Chicago today is really windy. We have a wind warning and a thunderstorm warning. It's warm out, but I'm not sure if I can take my dog on a walk during halftime unless it calms down. NW stadium is much closer to the lake than I am, but the wind is coming from the west, so that might not matter (windy city moniker comes mostly from wind coming off Lake Michigan).

The bad thing about this Tenn-UGA game is that if Georgia keeps putting the screws to them - which I hope they do - Hooker might not stay very high in the Heisman race. TPTB are finicky like that.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Hate to see Hooker lose. Man Georgia is rapidly becoming the next Bama when Saban retires. They are like a carbon copy of an earlier version of Bama, like 2009-2011 ish Greg McElroy Bama. Stout defense, watching paint dry boring offense. Ugh

Everyone who says they wouldn't take Hugh Freeze because they think he lacks "morals" is a liar. If he was at VT doing what he is doing at Liberty you would love him. No one would be like "man I like winning but we need to fire our coach bc morals"

Nope screw that. He shouldn't be hired in the first place. It's not that he hired call girls it's he did it while preaching holier than though BS, it's not that he hired call girls it's that he wasn't smart enough to do it and not use state resources to do it and THEN when given the chance to remove the calls and texts from the phone before turning it over to an outside group of lawyers suing his school he didn't remove them. But mostly preaching this holy BS I'm a good family man and people should follow my example while paying for sex outside marriage on the side.

I would be doing what I've done with my Washington football fandom the past 2+ decades because of Dan Snyder's ownership - shelved it. No merch. No games in-person or watched on TV.
Hugh Freeze is a hypocrite and a scumbag. I don't care if he would have us undefeated and ranked Top 10 right now, I'd hate that hire and wouldn't even be on TKP.

Not sure why the downvote but it's the truth. No one at all is talking about what he did. No one.
Maybe he turned a page in life and is a new person? Would you not be willing to give a second chance or just once and done?? Bc everyone else is such a saint?
I don't know either way. And I honestly don't care bc he's not our coach and don't think we ever looked at him as a serious candidate but to think people wouldn't be happy if he did at VT what he's doing at liberty is a bit ridiculous. Again, is there no forgiveness? He didn't even do anything against anyone here. And if he's turned a new lead and changed good for him.
It's liberty though. Liberty!!! He's gonna be beating us for a while.

Again it's not the buying sex. It's buying sex while preaching his holier than thou views. He has not once apologized for being a hypocrite or misusing state property. Then he takes a job at a place that is willing to give jobs to people like him or an AD that has around during the coverup of sexual assault and works for a schools that is probably doing it again all the while denying not saying a world about their discriminating policies.

I'll stop donating if we hire Hugh Freeze. He'd just use the job as a way to further his political and religious agenda, and I want VT football to remain apolitical.
Not only that, but he's an idiot. He called hookers on his work phone, and when given the opportunity to (legally) hide that evidence, he said 'no, I'm okay.' That's like watching porn on your work computer, then when HR asks you to clear the history, you're like 'no, I'd rather keep it bookmarked' - how dumb do you need to be?
Finally, think of all the schools that would never make a morality argument (Auburn, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Tennessee) who made a coaching hire in the last 4 years. The fact that NOT A SINGLE SCHOOL IN THE SOUTH EAST gave him a shot tells you all you need to know. He has a reputation for lying to and embarrassing ADs. No one wants to work with him.

I hate Hugh Freeze and I would never advocate for him to coach at VT. He is a good ball coach tho. We'd be better on the field but it's not worth the embarrassment to me.

To your point about just looking for the next job. This was his postgame ON FIELD interview after winning at Arkansas.
"I don't know that Auburn wants me. I have no clue," Freeze told 247 sports "I know this: I have won everywhere I've been and my staff and kids have turned programs fast. It's our culture that we instill. I know we do that and the proof is in the pudding
Lobbying for another job on the field with your current team is certainly a look.

Everyone who says they wouldn't take Hugh Freeze because they think he lacks "morals" is a liar.
This comment says more about you than it does about us. Particularly the fact that you felt the need to put morals in quotes. Morality is what separates us from animals. A man who values victory over morality is not a man.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think 'morals' was in quotes because college football is a sport steeped in what are at best moral grey-areas occupied by seedy people.
For that reason, I do think there is some irony in avoiding Hugh freeze for 'moral' reasons, but also supporting a sport that is littered with moral hazards.

It's hilarious, my 8 year old asked me this morning if they ever score 70 in football. And then he said "nah that's the NBA they have the most scoring".
Just amazing when those little conversations come up out of the blue and then It happens that same day. Just something funny I'll remember with him for a little while

So with Alabama having 2 losses, do they drop out of playoff contention or do the voters move them up a spot given the quality loss on the road to a top 10 team? Seriously, I could half expect that.
Honestly, ignoring VT (which I did not see or listen to at all as I was at my daughter's school play) it was a good day for me. Iowa State finally won again, UVa lost, Alabama (maybe) knocked out of the playoffs and the Philles losing. Nothing really against the Phillies, but I am so sick of hearing about them day and night everywhere around here. On work Zoom calls, I would mute my speakers for several minutes because I was sick of hearing about the Phillies and no conversation could not start or end with them. Overhype is why I always end up despising whoever the local team is where I live.

At this point the committee is gonna do whatever they want. With clemson shitting the bed the ACC is out of the discussion and the big 10 looks to either get michigan or ohio state in. I would be surprised if the SEC got 3 in but not stunned if they got 2 in.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Unfortunately I'll have to agree on that somehow either Bama or Tennessee will probably sneak it with Georgia as well. Maybe outside shot for LSU with the SEC title game but Georgia look really good again.

By the way, shout out to Kansas and the amazing turn-around job done there. Beating top 20 Oklahoma State and becoming bowl eligible. From the ESPN website:
"Kansas' last bowl appearance was a win against Minnesota in the 2008 Insight Bowl under coach Mark Mangino, who departed after the 2009 season. None of the four coaches who followed him --Turner Gill, Charlie Weis, David Beaty and Les Miles -- won more than three games in a season, let alone the six needed for bowl eligibility."
If it can be done at Kansas, we can do it here.

Evey year VT is garbage VT fans say the ACC is garbage. When will this fanbase recognize it had one great year with a generational talent at QB and came up short that year. Its time to let expectations reflect the reality of the program. No current high school recruits were even alive when VICK made things happen and he is the only sell the school has. Name one other household name VT has produced? Even a resurgence of "BEAMER ball yesterday couldnt produce a win. oh well hope springs eternal.

Three separate times the ref called a dead ball personal foul on the wrong team, the officials walked off the penalty and players started lining up and then he had to make a correction and walk it 30 yards back the other way.
Three times.

Forgive me if I can't get excited for Tuesday night MAC
In the Buffalo-Ohio game you missed out on the smoothest talking ref in football. It was the clearest field mic I have ever heard. Dude sounded like he was giving an interview on NPR.
UGA/UT may one of the best football games in recent years, but somehow no matter who the victor is, Alabama wins the most
UGA beats UT -> Wins SEC East on tie-breaker to UT.
Alabama wins remaining games -> Wins SEC West.

In that scenario I can see CFP execs creaming their jeans to put all 3 in plus Clem/OSU/Mich
Why not NotreDame? /s
That you, Lou Holtz?
Freakin dirty catch from a 6'4 240 freshman receiver on App State... and his name is Stroman. Bring him to the Burg Pry!
Weird thing is, the Sun Belt is really fun to watch while the ACC is.... boring AF.
So much this.... Sun Belt is entertaining and highly underrated. I would take the points on any Sun Belt vs ACC matchup. Unfortunately, the ACC is weak AF. Got me missing the old Big East.
That's why they call it the Fun Belt and not the FunACC
Anyone else see Zay Flowers posterize those three Duke players? Spin move at the 2 yard line an the Duke guys pull a three stooges...
So that everyone can make fun of me later .... I'm feeling Tennessee will win by 3 scores.
See just like I said UGA by 2 scores!

This isn't normal weather is my point
Well, it's Chicago, so you're probably good until Brian Kelly sends a kid up in a scissor lift.
I'm planning on staying ground level today lol
That was just a horrible call in the Tennessee/Georgia game. Absolutely should have been a safety.
The bad thing about this Tenn-UGA game is that if Georgia keeps putting the screws to them - which I hope they do - Hooker might not stay very high in the Heisman race. TPTB are finicky like that.
Hooker needed this one to usurp Stroud.
Go Air Force

Lol, yet another FSU-Miami game with a highlight reel of games from forever ago to hype this now irrelevant game up.
A lot of good games within a touchdown after the half right now:
NCST vs Wake
Michigan vs Rutgers
Alabama vs LSU
BYU vs Boise
Texas vs KSU
Game Viewing Guide
Saw this about an hour after you posted and checked Michigan Rutgers game... they put up 28 in the third quarter lmao
Well, UT will still be in good shape because Clemson is getting boat raced by the Irish
Love Clemson getting crushed. Screw the ACC and Clemson especially who doesn't even deserve their ranking this year. ACC is hot garbage.
Currently SMU 77, Houston 56.
No, that's not a basketball game.

Trigger warning...
I read 2008 and thought Orange Bowl. Of course that was the '08 OB after the '07 season.
9 ranked teams lost to lower ranked or unranked teams this weekend.
In games where two ranked teams played, zero higher ranked teams won. So maybe not a good look for the playoff committee.

Tyrod Taylor, Kam Chancellor, Bruce Arians, Shane Beamer, Eddie Royal, Antonio Freeman, Bruce Smith......
Most people outside of VT know all those folks too
no they dont Beamer Arians MAYBE. T
Im talking young people. 757 may know of Tyrod
Clemson-ND...The game marked Clemson's first time allowing touchdowns via offense, defense and special teams since 2007 against Virginia Tech.
Sigh!
Was at the Marshall-ODU game.
Three separate times the ref called a dead ball personal foul on the wrong team, the officials walked off the penalty and players started lining up and then he had to make a correction and walk it 30 yards back the other way.
Three times.
