What? Good news? Go Hokies

PWO, the best linebacker on Highland Springs who's currently #1 in the state. Very good PWO pickup.

Congrats. Welcome

Yes, please! and bring the guys you hate to face in practice and games with you.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Fam!

Awesome addition. Great to get all the talent we can from the VA footprint. Lock down the 804 and keep bringing that Springers talent Home to VT.

This might be my favorite gif of all time.

Why would you do this to me? Old commit thread has a new post... I'm thinking decommit.

Ha, my bad, it wasn't that far down the page.

Is there a way we can auto-lock a thread, especially recruiting after two weeks to prevent this sort of mishap?

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Another Virginian for the good guys!

Congrats!

Anyone know where he grades out in *'s? I could not find him on 247.

He is unranked from the information I have.

And we're getting excited why? I'm not trying to be the pessimist although I haven't seen very much of anything to be optimistic about, except for some of our freshmen who are finally getting some PT. Help me understand how to get enthusiastic over un ranked to 3* guys who chose us over Buffalo, Toledo, Akron, UMass.....you get the picture. I truly feel that the '24 class is going to reveal whether we are "on our way back" or will remain mired in mediocrity or less. I'm just as excited as everyone else about the idea of recruiting our footprint, but when that footprint is lacking quality talent, how long do we have to wait until that 4*, or dare I dream, 5* recruit says "I'm committed ".

The constant debate each week has been, is it a lack of talent, a lack of coaching, or both. There have been numerous examples supporting each argument. But in this age of college football we're in, coaching will only go so far and talent is what we need to get back to 10 win seasons. So please excuse me for not getting excited when I see we received a commitment from a player and look at what his other offers were and see the other schools on the list are, well......I listed some of them above. I'm all about "diamonds in the rough" and developing 3 stars into 4 stars, but an entire team of lesser talent will equal lesser wins.

I would say we're excited because of where he is coming from. HS has a track record of very advanced players making immediate impacts. The relationship with his coach is also very important. We're not getting all 4/5 stars...so getting solid role players will make a huge difference. This is our version of winning in the margins.

We put the K in Kwality

This. Highland springs produces 3 star talent every year. The 2021 class had two four stars that both went to Oklahoma.
Make inroads at the school and get better access to this talent. It's not like we are using a scholarship here. He is a PWO. There is literally nothing to cause us to be anything but happy about it.

firstly, he's a walk on

secondly, he wants to be here. because he's a walk-on and is willing to pay his way rather than play on scholarship at buffalo, toledo, akron, umass, etc it shows you there is some weight behind the decision and that he wants to be here

thirdly, he's a good high school player at a high school that produces D1 players and whose head coach is a hokie. how many kids from highland springs went elsewhere during fuente's tenure? need to cultivate and nurture that relationship -- especially if it isn't costing the football team anything

Noob question - what does 'preferred' walk-on mean? does he get first dibs on any extra schollies?

i think the preference means he can largely bypass any open tryouts. i always perceived it as "you can be on the team but we aren't allotting a scholarship for you"

I think it also makes it easier for playing his way towards a scholarship as well by performance on and off the field.

This is my understanding. You have a spot but no scholly.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

It means hard nosed guys that wanna play like him and Sam, "No D: Rogers, get a chance to come on and develop into fan favorites.

This is going to be great for the ACC.
