USC is awful at tackling. Was really hoping we'd get a playoff without Bama, Clemson, and OSU but doesn't look like that'll happen.

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

USC looked really soft tonight. I would expect a top 5 team to tackle better than our team did this year but I guess that isn't the case.

Want to see USC vs UNC. Talk about a pillow fight.

USC needs that Brian Cushing roid rage again. Gosh they've got so many actual great defensive alum that were probably sick last night watching that. Ronnie Lott could still put tackle some of them I'm sure.

Unfortunately, you are correct.

The ONE time I actually pull for USC, they remind me why I don't.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

On the bright side, it is pretty cool that Utah just ruined the season for a Blueblood. You almost never see that any more.

Not surprised at all USC lost. Didn't understand why so many in pundit world thought the Top 4 was set. Won't be surprised at all if TCU loses as well.

Yay... 2 Big 10 teams vs 2 SEC teams. Wonderful...

It's hard to beat the same team twice and K State has been showing up in the big games I've watched this season. I do want to see the Duece get loose. He is a fun little player to watch.

Utah just made beating the same team twice look rather easy, though...

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

Very true. Beating physical teams is what I should've stated.

Not sure why everyone thinks a TCU loss would knock them out of the top 4. There's three undefeated teams, and the only team with 1 loss isn't playing anymore. Either way, we're gonna end this weekend with 4 teams with 1 loss or less.

What is interesting is that K-State already has their bowl game set no matter what the outcome of today's game is. If they win, they go to the Sugar Bowl as Big 12 champs. If they lose, they go to the Sugar Bowl as the Big 12 replacement team because TCU is in the CFP.

Fuckin ridiculous

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Went to bed at half time. Man, USC must have totally fallen apart.

Caleb doomed them when he struck the Heisman pose against Norte Lame.

Karma will get after ya. I hadn't even seen that, I don't do twitter but thanks for sharing.

He is a new scapegoat for hatred now when Bama or osu gets in.

What an ass. Had not heard he did that before. Now I'm really glad they lost.

Recovering scientist working in business consulting

He does that every big game I guess. Had Horns Down against Texas, Fuck ND then XX for the other 2 fingers. Whatever makes him comfortable. Not something I would have ever thought to do, but not gonna fault someone who does, especially if it lands them in Heisman contention.

Caleb doomed them when he tried to slide instead of running out of bounds, ultimately resulting in an injury that made their offense one-dimensional.

God damn USC, got smoked!!

I don't want much, I just want VT to play with the attitude Utah play with man are they fun to watch.

I for one don't mind seeing USC miss the playoff Riley is a snake for how he treated Oklahoma. Sucks for Ohio State to benefit but they'll get Georgia who is a Michigan like team who should plaster them.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Riley is a snake for how he treated Oklahoma

What makes you say that? IMO Riley didn't do anything wrong, OU is just shook because they've never been big dawg'd before.

My perspective would be that he left the program and took Williams. Mr steal your girl, but that is the current landscape so he didn't do anything wrong IMO. Folks in Norman can be butthurt all they want.

Yeah what exactly did Riley do to Oklahoma that was shady? Take another job?

Didn't USC offer him not only a ton of money, come live in LA instead of Norman (I've been there multiple times, the town sucks), get any QB recruit you want basically, and also work into his contract to buy his home in Norman over market and build a brand new house in the hills?

If Mr. Riley had said no...he might have had bigger problems with Mrs. Riley.

So USC losing pretty much guarantees Georgia, Michigan and TCU are in even if the lose. Who do they take as the 4th? OSU, Alabama, LSU if they win, heck, could still take USC.

Recovering scientist working in business consulting

Georgia, Michigan, and TCU were pretty much guaranteed before last night. The Pac-12 title game was only affecting the fourth spot.

OSU is the only 1 loss team left. USC has the best case for any 2-loss team as both losses were from the same team, and they are 11-2 instead of 10-2.

LSU has three losses already, even if they upset Georgia.

That shouldn't be targeting.

Glad there is the review on those. It looked worse full speed than it actually was with the replay.

This is why conference championship games probably need to be eliminated with the 12 team playoff. All the risk for the teams that have to play in them, while others (Bama, OSU) get essentially a bye week. Of course I don't know how you decide conference champions without that game now that leagues have gotten so ridiculously big. But they seem pretty irrelevant with a 12 team playoff. If conference champions were guaranteed an auto bid that's one thing, but since it's only four highest ranked conference champs and then next two highest in the lower field of 8, if 7-5 Duke upsets Clemson in the ACCCG they are not getting in the playoff.

That's why we need to just go to a Power 2 with an 8 team playoff. Each conference has 4 divisions, all division winners go to the playoffs, and the conference championships would be the semi-finals.

They should call them the National Football Conference and American Football Conference with North, South, East West divisions.

I like something closer to "Leaders" for one and "Legends" for the other. What could go wrong?

I'm still figuring this out.

100% agree...they are already essentially irrelevant.

Particularly considering that the B1G, SEC, and ACC gamed don't even have the two consensus best teams playing.

The matchups should be:
Mich/OSU
Georgia/Bama
Clemson/FSU

For a team like TCU to have to risk losing CFP spot while OSU and Bama sit at home with popcorn is ridiculous.

It's almost like the entire System of College Football at this point is setup for the Blue Bloods to prosper absolutely as much as possible...almost.

Hard disagree on your "consensus best" teams in the ACC and SEC.

In the ACC, Clemson and UNC have the two best conference records, so even if we didn't have divisions this year, that would be the ACCCG matchup. UNC is 6-2 in conference while FSU is 5-3.

In the SEC, Georgia is the clear #1, but you have both Tennessee and Alabama behind them in the conference standings at 6-2. If the SEC didn't have divisions, then the championship game would be Georgia/Tennessee (again) because Tennessee has the head-to-head over Alabama.

Tennessee doesn't have their QB, they slid by Bama with him...they don't win that game without Hooker.

And FSU absolutley is a better all-around Team than UNC, regardless of conference record.

UNC: total O 12th, total D: 117th
FSU: total O 14th, total D 14th

My contention is that the conference records are really quite pointless as the size of them and uneven talent across divisions make it impossible to compare teams fairly. Without a head,to-head matchup, its all subjective. The B1G West as has the ACC Coastal been during most the reign of Clemson.

When I hear the term "Championship Week" I want the two best and most talented teams in the Conference at that moment playing; not Purdue so that OSU can backdoor into the CFP or a UNC team that lost to a 4th String QB a week ago.

Sounds like know you're just trying to use the same arguments that the so-called "System of College Football" makes that you were just railing against.

Tennessee can't be penalized for Hooker's injury until it actually affects the game on the field. Since the injury occurred during the 4th quarter of the SC loss, while SC was leading, we can't say the outcome would have been significantly different. And then Tennessee blew out Vandy as they were expected to do.

Therefore, since Tennessee and Alabama are both 10-2 and Tennessee has the head-to-head, I believe that Tennessee should be ranked ahead of Alabama.

And like it's pointed out every year, "champion" doesn't necessary mean "best team".

conference championship games probably need to be eliminated with the 12 team playoff.

Top 4 Conference Champions will get byes in the new playoff - so you play an extra game up front, but if you win you get a buy. Also, Conference Championship games will be huge for seeding purposes.

Can we hire Kansas State's offensive coordinator?

Great Big12 Championship game. Wish both of these teams could win.

If TCU loses in OT to a top 10 team in the conference championship game, that still has to get in over two loss Bama, right?

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

I sure hope so. Would Alabama beat them head-to-head? My guess is yes. But 3 point loss to a top 10 team to go 12-1 still should top 10-2 and not even winning your division.

Recovering scientist working in business consulting

TCU got screwed with two spots in a row. At the same time don't know why they didn't do two QB sneaks and just have lineman behind him to push him in.

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

LSU forgot the rules of football...that's embarrassing.

"GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM LITTLE BROTHER, THE CUP IS COMIN’ ON HOME!”

More terrible special teams play from LSU.

LSU almost starting to show life following that horrendous first half (shoutout the fg block). Will need a miracle of all miracles to make this a game. UGA: absurdly good.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

Assuming UGA and Michigan games are chalk, I think the rankings will look like:

1 UGA
2 Mich
3 tOSU
4 TCU

These are all the 0 or 1 loss teams left and as such will likely be the top four.
tOSU (11-1) lost to the #2 team at home and didn't win their division, and, as a result, their conference.
TCU (12-1) lost in OT in their conference championship game to a KSU team who will likely be in the top 10 in the next rankings.

Personally I would like to see the two Big Ten teams play each other again so one of them loses before the championship.

I think they'll switch OSU and TCU. They'll make up some reason for it, but at the end of the day, they don't want a first round rematch.

I would almost think they'd prefer that to a rematch championship. We've seen that - though I guess it worked for the SEC not sure the B1G has the same draw (as a Michigander that hates both those teams I'd like one of them eliminated early, if not both)

I'm still figuring this out.

I dunno, I think a Michigan/OSU national championship would be pretty cool. At least make OSU earn a second shot at their rival; don't just give it to them.

My opinion, OSU should not get rewarded for not playing this weekend, give them the 4 seed and let TCU have the 3 TCU earned it buckeyes did not. Isn't like OSU lost early in the year they got curb stomped last weekend

Outside of TCU/KState game the championship games today they have all been boring blowouts.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Michigan-Purdue has been watchable

It was the only top 10 match up this week.

I dunno, I very much enjoyed watching Maye throw a 98 yard pick 6 and seeing Carolina get curb stomped after Klubnik was brought in to replace DJU.

Wonder if DJU portals out before the bowl game?

Wouldn't surprise many to see him at UCLA or Washington.
