I can't really blame Ryan. Saturday is a fraud of a "coach" dude was only an ESPN analyst and only coached a losing high school team, he got hired because Irsay is a meddling fuck that wants to get someone that played with Peyton Manning as a coach.

Let me just say that I agree that Saturday is completely not qualified to be a head coach and Irsay hiring him is ridiculous.
But.
Matt Ryan has been AWFUL all season. Even when Frank Reich was the coach. Yeah the offensive line sucks. But Ryan is mega washed. The Colts defense (outside of the last two weeks) is actually really good and this season has been almost entirely because of the offense and Matt Ryan. He can't throw the ball more than 15 yards anymore. So yeah, this loss (which I was hoping for) as well as one of the worst offenses in the history of the NFL is most definitely on Matt Ryan.
Yes Matt Ryan hasn't been as good as his past seasons, that's just the surface everybody will look at and only talk about. There have been much more once a person looks closer and deeper, O-line became a turnstile, no receivers (maybe their rookie can do something but still raw) and Jonathon Taylor had a big drop off (O-line can be a big blame for this too).
I like this video starting at around the 2:30 mark digging deep into the stuff this year, he first started out this video talking about Luck and how Irsay and prior GM fucked him over really bad (especially the GM where many in the NFL laughed at Irsay for hiring him).
Receivers were unproven but have been fine this year. The o line is bad but honestly has been much better as the season has gone on (still bad but not dumpster fire). Taylor has been injured and a victim of bad line/bad offense letting the defense cue on him.
Again, not saying Ryan is the sole reason but he is the main one so it's not unreasonable or incorrect that people will at least partially blame him for this mess.
With a new QB next year this offense looks a lot different. I don't even hate Matt Ryan like most people on this website, but yeah this is mostly on him.

We are tanking so we're cool with it. The key is him doing poorly enough (heavily aided by todays performance) so that Irsay can't justify giving him the full time job next season.

We can eliminate a few names from this list I think:
Seth Greenberg - the man produced the first NCAA tournament wins I ever witnessed as a fan, and dealt with some all time snubs from the committee. Can be annoying but I would really hope not hated.
Paul Johnson - thorn in our side, but actually a pretty good football coach. If he ran a normal offense I don't think there is much hate at all.

Joe Gieck. He's the UVA head trainer that attempted to trip Antonio Banks after banks intercepted the ball and was running along the sideline for a pick-six in the '95 game. We were up 1 after we had just scored, but UVA was marching back down the field with the chance to score again when Banks intercepted, so that sealed the win.

I don't hate him personally or want anything bad to happen to him or anything like that (that would be reserved for people like Jerry and Joe at Penn State), but if I could have replaced anyone at VT with someone who was actually good, it has to be Stinespring.
I will defend Stinespring's coaching ability, his units were well coached. He just couldn't gameplan or call plays.

it's a fair question. I've seen pretty mixed opinions on TKP regarding Fu (some people think he's a good guy, bad coach. Others think he'd be a good OC - just not cut out for HC. Basically, I just don't think he gets the same level of hate as someone like Cornelsen). It seems pretty unanimous that everyone here hates Corny. And Matt Ryan. And Brian Kelly. And Paul Johnson.
He was the guy that was at the helm and responsible for tanking the program. He's at the top of the villain list in my book.
yeah, i know he's at the top of a few peoples' shit list. He's near the top of mine, too. But I've seen enough people on TKP defending him that IDK that he makes the TKP mount rushmore. I've seen 0 people defend Matt Ryan, Brian Kelly, Brad Cornelsen, etc.
In my book, there's WORLDS of difference between a villain and incompetence. He was way more incompetent than villain in my book, so I'm not going to hate on the guy. He didn't intentionally run the program into the ground, he just didn't know how to fix what was wrong. And it was probably frustrating for him given how they did in 2016, knowing they COULD do better, just not knowing how to get back there.
