Women's BB: The Ladies try to one up the Gents....

VT 11-11(1-8) loses to Syracuse 17-6(6-4) 73-48....

The only relative bright spot was Uju Ugoka returning from injury to record her 12th double double of the season, scoring 15 points while grabbing 12 boards. The only other Hokie in double figures was Vanessa Panoussis with 12 points. Surprisingly Syracuse only had one player in double figures but Brittney Sykes threw down 31 points in only 28 minutes of play. This game unfortunately was essentially over halfway through the first half, as the Hokies were down by double digits from the 10 minute mark throughout the rest of the game. Syracuse led by 21 at the half and by as many as 35 at one point in this game. They had ten players play at least ten minutes each in this game, so the Lady Hokies struggled even against the back ups in this game. Not a good showing especially against a middling team in the conference this year.

I think the school as a whole needs to work on this "hoop-ball" game.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

You mean Shooty-Hoops?

The HT pep band sang this after every game when Bonnie was walking to the scorer's table for her post-game interviews. Yes, she would conduct us en route.

yeah dude, when i was there (99-01) seemed like more people went to women's games than men's.

To be fair, that was back when the men's team was easily the worst in the Big East, and the women's team was routinely making the postseason, so... makes sense.

Ah yes. The "legendary" Ricky Bomb Stokes era. Damn.

True Hokies STICK IT IN!!!

read thread title... thought to self... hmm.. men's vs. women's team in hoops might not be a bad game.

Guaranteed ACC win for a Hokie basketball team!

"Exit light..."

Or it'll be the first double shutout in the history of the game.

No, I am not optimistic right now.
