Great interview here, thanks for finding it AB
The classics never get old
I have not seen that before. Wow
This is always a classic. 😂
What a beauty. Certified beautician right there.
Haven't seen this in along time and it's still hilarious. So who was Randy?

One of my favorite Hokies!
"Celebrate for what? I don't give a damn about New Years!"
"You guys can write the stuff you like to write, write some stuff!"
Love that guy!
Legs for everyone. Far as I'm concerned, this is the only thing that happened in the college football world today.
We sure could do with Moore of his brand of ultraviolence nowadays.
Watching the game against Clemson above, he isn't even that violent compared to some, he tackles head up, he has some hits on the QB that would be flagged for late today, but otherwise he plays clean. He just runs to the ball with out regard for life or limb.
Oh I know. But we miss that Terrordome attitude
Oh yeah, I love how he tackles, like he was properly taught. So I agree more of his brand of ultra violence, the clean kind of getting to the ball carrier and putting him on the ground.
I also once saw him grab an OL twice his size by the facemask, and shot put him to the ground for no apparent reason.
And honestly, we could do with a bit more of that too. Core strength, I mean.
I still have no clue how a guy that small played DE. It's like we put a safety on the line. His strength is just insane. I was bigger than him when I was competitive in swimming. There should never be swimmers bigger than a defensive linemen, it's just wrong.
It finally caught up to him in the FSU game didn't it?

to be fair to Moore, FSU double-teamed him a ton that game and the rest of the DL couldn't make them pay
still too heartbroken to leg this one, sorry 07ME
Very much miss it.
Love this, long overdue. Quite a few of those QB hits by both Moore and Engleburger (sp?) would be flagged today, which is a shame. Hell, Moore might be suspended for the interview alone, but it's legendary.
Hasn't he had sons yet?
Welcome to the

I mean, it's a funny interview, but what's the deal with being so pissed off at the media?
He knows they aren't going to ask him anything remotely interesting, and the more they prove him right the madder he gets.
He had their number, and the reason it's funny is because he wasn't wrong.
I remember reading an article not too long after the game and Moore said something to the effect of trying to get the team angry and focused, and that's why he carried himself the way he did with the media that week. Did he have a reason to be mad? Probably not when then interviews started, but he went in with "I need to motivate" and then the questions got more irritating.
Ahh, what could have been. MV walks into the endzone on the first drive if he runs the right play. If the personal foul where FSU clobbers MV 10 yards out of bounds gets called, we score there and its a 6 point game with 8 mins left. If we cover that punt- just mediocre coverage, we have a better shot. ugggh.
If we play special teams that game, we win. If Peter Warwick had been ruled ineligible (he should have), we win.
The fact that Peter Warwick was allowed to play chapped my ass for years.
i saw him in one of those camera shops along canal st, and despite friends daring me to go ask him to steal a camera for me, i was thankfully sober enough to not do that
Yeah I heard something about him trying to take the focus/pressure off of Vick going into the game.
I also remember hearing this around the time it happened.
Echo this, I recall there was a ton of focus on Vick, who was clearly uncomfortable talking to media at that point. He was a freshman Heisman Trophy finalist, the most electric player in the country, everyone wanted to talk to him and Moore wanted to let him focus on the game and not worry about media attention. So he made sure they focused on him.
For what it's worth, I've heard nothing but good things about Moore as a person. My roommate ran into him on campus that year and even though Moore didn't know him, stopped and talked to him. He said Moore made him feel like he'd been waiting to see him all day.
I've never met him, but from working at an NRV business where people stood around and talked about current goings on, everyone said he was the nicest guy and would talk to anybody. He was like two different people, polar opposites, on and off the field.
Ran into him (literally) in Rector at a track meet circa 2000. I was terrified... but I'm still alive so he must be a good dude.
There was attitude b/c this Defense was a badass, no nonsense group that could give attitude if they so pleased.
That is part of the problem these days. Those who were not a witness to this era don't understand how these teams and fanbase reacted. This defense was a violent, swarming mob. When I say swarming, almost each and every play there were 2-5 guys coming to clean up the mess and add pain. No, nancy pancy arm tackling, whiffing or dragging a guy down to the ground by hugging him. These guys were coming to take heads off, injure, and strip the football.
Not trying to open a can of salty worms, but 50 to 75% of these guys had pitbulls as pets at the time and would flaunt them around campus and bring to practice in the stands if they were not participating. As for what all that is worth during that time and leading to unsavory outcomes, they were that type of animal during games.
I would do anything to see a smidgen of a resemblance of this "attitude" in the last 10 years of Hokie football.
Amen, that 99 defense was legit the best in the country. Even the WVU game, they had 2 short fields. That defense was bad ass. Hat tip to Bobby Bowden and Richt. They had a good plan. They had an elite plan after halftime. Bud played chicken with man coverage. Richt went max protect, and Foster still pressured. They hit 2 big plays- difference in the game.
Never forget this team finished the year with a third string center!
