Posting this only as an informational piece on former Hokie footballer, and Virginia Beach City Councilman Aaron Rouse has won the Special Election for the 7th Senate District of Virginia. The seat was previously held by Jen Kiggans, who recently defeated Elaine Luria for the 2nd Congressional District seat.
The 6-4 LB/S accumulated 217 tackles as a Hokie, and causing 9 turnovers during his 52 game career and earned first team ALL-ACC honors his Junior season.

If I'm not mixing and matching starters from different seasons in my head, I believe Rouse (rover) was part of a starting secondary that also included Jimmy Williams (CB), Brandon Flowers (CB) and
MarcusJustin Hamilton (FS). Arguably the best secondary in Virginia Tech history.Williams and flowers didn't start together. Flowers wasn't full time starter until 2006. Roland Minor was the other CB.
Also Justin not Marcus
Thanks for the correction! I usually do a quick Googling before I post, and this is why.
In my defense, it's kind of hard to keep track of all the all-conference and all-American defensive backs we had in those days.
Keep in mind, his backup at Rover was Kam Chancellor.
Close. Roland Minor was the other starting Corner and Justin Hamilton was the starting FS.
Also, that D included Chris Ellis, Darryl Tapp, Carlton Powell, Noland Burchette, Cody Grimm, Brendan Hill, Cam Martin, Macho Harris, Brandon Flowers, Vince Hall, and Xavier Adibi
Also had the largest punter we've had, he was a beast
Ah Nic Schmitt? I loved that guy. Still fondly remember him just obliterating a couple of kick returners haha.
I remember watching the Chick-fIL-a bowl his senior year against Georgia- even heUGA fans sitting next to us said "Damn that punter is HUGE!" (Believe he was 6'2" and 280 lbs- kinda "Greg-Boonish"
That D was fucking awesome. I miss balls out D so much. So much.
i'm mostly just confused -- the alternative sounds neither very efficient nor very effective
The alternative doesn't sound like it slaps.
maybe that's why he misses it?
Hall, Williams, Wilds, Fuller, and Green might have something to say about best DB unit.
He was part of the highest rated SP+ defense in history in 2006.
Secondary of Brandon Flowers, Aaron Rouse, DJ Parker, and Macho Harris.
That's pretty cool
I just read the headline at another website and had to read the article thinking how many Aaron Rouse's can there be
My favorite Rouse memory is him de-helmeting a UNC receiver running over the middle. Glad to see him succeeding beyond football
Met Rouse in person a few times. He's pretty proud of the fact that he finished his degree at tech as he promised his mom he would. Looks like it was the correct decision!
How I miss the defense of those years!
The first VT game I ever watched was 2005 in my freshman dorm room, Marcus Vick and the Hokies vs NCSU. That was one of those weird labor day weekend games, pretty sure it was on a Sunday.
In that game, Rouse had two interceptions and a forced fumble. What a Hokie! DBU legend!
not sure if i suggested it on here or maybe on twitter, but when we have large recruiting events, guys like aaron rouse and dwight vick should be invited to address the recruits.
Dwight Vick would be a great person, especially for in state recruits.
Not recruiting, but Rouse attended the VT Football "Professional Development Night" back in April 2022. It's meant to connect the current student-athletes with alums and businesses to create networking opportunities for careers other than football. I think the event is a great idea.
There's a quote from Rouse in the article here:

Aaron Rouse is such a beauty.
