I couldn't have written them up with as much upside as Hokiesports.com so I wont even try. Needless to say an impressive haul for a program on the rise. Bringing in top prospects from four countries and an All American goalkeeper who's senior year was 15 shutouts in 17 games, along with being the MVP of the High School All American game, Tech's men's soccer team is now seen as a destination to further your career rather than a place where most teams come for an easy win. They even pulled in a transfer student that appears to be of top caliber talent coming out of FIU.
Several of these kids come in after spending significant time in Pro team youth development programs. FC Dallas, and both kids coming out of Germany.
Give it a look if you have a moment:

The Lady Hokies are bringing in some top talent as well, signing six new players. The two that I think have the impact the soonest are likely the goalie, Kaylyn Smith coming from Colorado and the four star forward, Alani Johnson coming from Virginia Beach. Coming off their first Final Four appearance, things seem to be going well for both programs.

That is pretty awesome. As a big time soccer nerd I'm excited to see this. Welcome new Hokies!
Damn, those kids are impressive. I need to pay more attention to VT soccer
Baus will be great addition to VT soccer. I follow german soccer quite a bit and Baus is a guy that has the potential to be something special. Great class overall, excited to see these guys play soon!
Welcome to TKP! Have a turkey leg
Are you living in Europe or actually from Europe?
Thanks! Born in Bosnia, moved to the US 757 in 98. Tech grad living NOVA now :)
Welcome! You'll love it here!
Best Hokie web site out there and the people are friendly here, as well as fun crazy! :)
Slightly OT but is that Boykin as your avi?
Yes sir, that would be because I am a Packers fan so who better to have as my avatar than a Hokie
So I've got three reasons why I like you. #1 we're both hokies. Duh. #2 we're both packers fans. #3 I see you're from the 757. I grew up in Norfolk myself.
Haha doesn't get better than that. Just wondering Maury grad?
Haha nooooope. Lake Taylor Titans son! (I'll see myself out...)
One of the few away games I went to in high school and some Maury kids barely got out alive. LT doesn't take kindly to getting shut out on their home field.
What year was that? I remember someone shutting us out at home one year early in hs for me but idk if it was Maury. I'll be honest, it got pretty damn scary some nights.
There were a lot of scary nights in the 757 lol
I want to say 06-07 since that was my senior year. That was the "Who is Jay Smith" game. Lots of build up to the game and Maury won 13-0. Kids were getting beat up in the parking lot and I'm pretty sure I remember something about guns going off but luckily no one getting shot.
Yep I remember that night. I was a sophomore then, so I wanna say that is was 05-06, but I digress. I was in the band and while we were leaving all we knew was that people were scattering all over the place. It was nuts.
Plus his name is BAUS!!!!
Huge soccer nerd here as well! Really exciting to see these dudes in games in the near future!
Incorporated into the overall Topic.
Big thanks to you, ltrepeter2000 for all of these awesome threads.
Great to hear! Hope everyone pans out. Very interested to see what happens in men's soccer. That sport seems to be so chaotic on a yearly basis that its wide open for us to grab a couple top classes and swoop in for a Natty title. And we desperately need to continue the extremely positive momentum from the 2013 women's soccer season and keep pushing towards the future. The ACC is the elite women's soccer conference, and we're trending up like a bullet. Any season in the near future could potentially be a National Title season right now.
Very excited to see what will happen in that sport going forward.
Is Baus essentially giving up on European soccer? I mean Shalke has a pretty respectable youth system and leaving that to go play college soccer in the states seems like a backwards move...
I was surprised by his move as well, especially considering this estimate on what he might draw from a European club.

Scroll down to World Best Young Defensive Midfield born in 1993 list. They put his potential price at 6.6 million Euros. Not sure if that's a signing price or base contract price but regardless, from a soccer salary potential its a nice lifetime salary if you can get it.
Must have really wanted to get an education while continuing soccer.
Very true. VERY few young talents in Europe go this route. It would be tough in Germany to be in school and play competative soccer reguarly so I guess in the U.S he can get both.
