Huge program defining moment that the team needs to capitalize on.

LETS FREAKING GO WIN THIS THING WAY TO GO GIRLS!
LETS GO
HOKIES!!!!!!!
Aged like a fine bourbon
The Road to Dallas will go through Chattanooga, USC, Tennessee, and UCONN
Seattle bracket not ideal, but the two home games against Chattanooga and the winner of USCw and SDSU (who I would imagine will not have much fan travel) is a nice 4-some
Man talk me down but not pumped about the familiarity lol (Poppie was an assistant at VT last year)
So enlighten me on this unfamiliar territory. Has a women's #1 ever lost to a #16 seed? We certainly don't want to make UVA style history.
Once (something like 355-1)! But the familiarity has me second guessing. Also our quadrant is fucking stacked, whereas another one has a bunch of teams that were bounced in their conference championships.
Guess we just have to win the whole damn thing!
Yeah I think they said 1-3 seeds were that number since expanding. Stanford lost to Harvard back in 98.
Stanford is an outlier as they lost their best two players in the Pac 10 championship game but still got a number 1 seed, they were a completely different team.
the gap in women's basketball is much bigger than in men's. The top 10-15 are typically head and shoulders above the teams below 30
I'm not as concerned with the familiarity factor as some folks. First, VT is a veteran team and has shown a high capacity for making adjustments when necessary so I'm pretty confident they can throw in some wrinkles. Secondly, it's one thing to know what plays may be coming while it's a completely different thing to stop them.
I took a quick peek at the Chattanooga schedule. They were 8-7 in non-conference, including a 30 point loss to a Tennessee team that VT beat two days earlier.
Of course anything can happen, but I don't think that Shawn Poppie knowing the scheme is going to be a big factor.
They know our plays and we know theirs. However they don't have Kitley, Soule, King, Gregg and Amore.
Pretty much every coach in the ACC knows our plays and they could not stop us with much better players than Shawn Poppie has. I don't think we need to worry about this one unless we start looking past them toward UConn.
Nice!
Congrats to the Lady Hokies!
Fam!
Special team.
Go Hokies! So proud of this team. Keep it rolling!
When do they release game times?
Have there been any updates to answer this great question?
We play 5:30 pm Friday on ESPNU
LET'S GOOOOOOO
HOKIES!!!
Gonna be plenty of bulletin board material for the ladies... UConn is almost overwhelmingly picked to come out of the region to reach the Final Four, so not a lot of believers in the national media based on what I've seen so far.
To be fair, UConn is....UConn...
I mean ... UCONN has made 14 Final Fours in a row (2008-2022)
edit *excluding 2020 when the tourney didn't happen
And they have to deviate from chalk. Our region is probably the toughest.
Anyone trying to buy tickets? The site would not let me buy at noon when I should have been able to buy according to my Hokie Club level and now the site is crashing.
hokiesports says starting at 2pm today they are available
If you're trying to buy combined session tickets, try each session separately. Combined is sold out (when I bought there were two seats together in one section and then about 6 other seats spread around individually and that was it). But, there was more availability if you bought each session separately (but still not a ton).
Yup! This is the route I took when I wasn't able to purchase at noon like I should have been able to. I called the Hokie Club office and there was some sort of error with my account. Thankfully I was able to grab a ticket for each session.
speaking of Hokie Club errors, I made my donation a few days ago and it's showing up as a 2024 donation. we are only 3 months into 2023, seems odd.
Maybe they know something about next year's Final Four
The Hokie Club dates don't line up with the calendar year:

Was very unhappy when they changed the donation schedule from end of March to first of March. I used to spread my donation over three months, and now effectively it is spread over 2.
so the cutoff date to get a 2023 donation in is March 1 of 2023? I don't see how that would confuse people...
Yeah, it's a bit nuanced, but I think primarily related to buying football season tickets, and the timing of those.
Any donations after that date go towards the following year of Hokie Club membership.
Seems like the right thing to do would be track donations on calendar year and just allot tickets off points at specified date. So football would be points at March 1, basketball freeze points at Aug 1, etc.
Don't you dare suggest on an internet board to use logic /s (sorta)
The first two times I tried to get my tickets at noon, by the time I got to the cart somebody else had paid for the tickets. I did get my five tickets already.
Tickets were going fast!
By the time I got away from work at 2:15 they were sold out. Looked on Stubhub and am not going to pay that markup for them.
St Patty's Day game watching!
