FWIW he was the one that got burned by Holloway on his TD catch from Pop in the spring game. He got moved to RB during the last season for like....2 days until we had 2 DBs go down with knee injuries on the same day. Seemed promising when he committed.

Also, as an aside - Is anyone else surprised we haven't heard more names enter the portal since we need to trim the extra scholarships and we are pursuing guys in the portal?

I agree, it's surprising that VT has only had one portal entry since the spring game. I was curious how other ACC schools were doing also so I looked at the 247 transfer portal page, and I was very surprised to see that only like 4 schools have gotten up to 4 players entering the portal since they played their spring games (FSU, BC, UNC, and I forget the 4th one). Everyone else was in that 1-3 players range.

I think things are starting to settle down in regards to the transfer portal. Players are realizing that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. There was that initial rush of players who many, if not all, believed they would get lots of playing time if they just had a fresh start, but unfortunately are finding this not to be the case. I'm basing this on numbers I'm reading in articles such as this one

Don't forget, that the extra Covid year also inflated the numbers from previous seasons a lot.

Yeah I was going to bring this up. We are 4 over the limit currently and are expected to add 3-5 transfers before the fall. That means we have 8 days for at least 4 but more like 7 or 8 guys to enter the portal.

Looking over our roster I only see really 3 guys it would make sense to jump now. There are a few more injured who maybe would want to come back from injury before deciding to leave. And a bunch of guys at positions with a ton of incoming freshman, who likely get passed but it won't happen till fall camp

Since this is Pry's second year, I think he also has the option of players giving up football, keeping their scholarship at VT, but not counting against the limit.

So there might be guys who don't go into the portal and no big announcement is made, but they're off the roster.
