following the stats only, but that bottom of the fifth was stressful. two walks, sacrifice fly, third walk. Bases loaded with one out. Thankfully we got a strikeout followed by a groundout...

The blown call in the 3rd when our pitcher hit the corner for strike 3 would have ended the inning. That led to the 4 runs for BC. Hokies fought back, but those 4 runs were the difference. That said, our outfielders had a tough time hitting the cutoff cleanly allowing a couple of runs. On to next year.

As a former center fielder I'm always on the side of the outfielder in those situations. However, the SS was planted under the ball when he was called off. Really poor decision there.

I didn't watch anywhere close enough ball to really tell what happened. But...you can look back at the box scores and the score in general - we just couldn't pitch. This was a rough year on the mound, and I doubt it was because every pitcher we had regressed somehow. I would pin this on bad coaching - poor game planning, poor game management, and poor pen management.

To your earlier point about losing steam - I don't think we ever had any. We lost our opening ACC series in clunker and we never seemed to get on track.

That's not true. we had a stretch of 10 games in the acc where the team went 8-2. That's momentum. I think losing green played a big part of not making the ncaa. I think the team wins like 4 games if he was healthy all year

Hokies get 3 back in the top of the 4th to retake the lead 6-4.
BC goes down 1-2-3 in the 4th.
BC loads the bases, Hokies flirt with disaster, and get out of the inning unscathed. Still 6-4 Hokies going into the 6th.

dropped liner, double down the line, and a walk - BC has the bases loaded again, one out.
Line-out on a full count with a diving catch at 2b. Two down.
*sigh*... bases-clearing double. 8-6 Eagles
Summoning some late inning rally karma

routine pop-fly lost in the mid day sun by BC... score now 8-7
and BC has loaded the bases... again... in the bottom of the 7th.
single and 2 more runs in... 10-7 BC
BC simply made more plays and punished our pitching mistakes. Game #2 tomorrow at 7pm against Klempson.

The tourney isn't over yet.
Really need a new pitching coach
The ACCT format is dumb. Tonight's Clemson-VT is meaningless for both teams, VT can not win the pool and Clemson only wins the pool if they beat BC.
You get rewarded for having really good regular seasons
Good news. Hokies up 5-3
Welp Hurley just gave Clemson 2 runs to tie it back up
If you wave off your teammate you'd better make the play...
If the shortstop telling you he's got it you let him get it. Bryant had that ball the whole way and now it's causing the game to get away from us

Welp... Looks like that error is the one that will seal the deal for the Hokies.
10-5 Clemson
Basically a 7 run error
Season was over after the UNC series. Lost all momentum after that series
Did we catch lightning in a bottle last season?
Maybe. I think teams not having flim on Hackenberg and Not much Flim on Green Helped alot last year imo

I do think the pitching coach was the problem. I am making a list of pitching coaches if Feactu gets fired that would should look atπ

That's how bad I feel the season was for me - I never got the feeling we had an 8-2 run.
They're the Phillies of the ACC
