For all Hokies and TKP'ers who have put on the uniform, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service and your sacrifices, including the sacrifices your families have made in order for you to serve.

Sorry....I honestly meant for this to convey sentiment for those who made the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who were ready to. I didn't write goodly.

Small world story. When I first got to my unit in Germany, met a guy in the next barracks room whose brother-in-law, J.J. Kaylor, was either the first or one of the first Hokies to fall post 9/11. His name is on the Ut Prosim pylon.

One of the recent names is Sarah Joy Mitchell. In 2016, she was in the Corp leadership, one of the first week Cadre. My son was a freshman. We helped him settle into Pearson Hall and then he went off for the buzz cut and some instruction. Sarah came into the dorm room and spoke with the wife and I, soothing our parental nerves. After graduation, Sarah was Navy and was serving on ship in the Middle East. She died during small boat exercise. I don't know the details. These Corp kids that gave their lives, whether in combat or in the line of duty, deserve our respect.

Ut Prosim
Remember the service and sacrifice.
And when he gets to heaven
To St Peter he will tell
One more soldier reporting sir
I've served my time in hell

Appreciate the sentiment, but today ain't about us.

S'all good, man. No apology needed. Just a friendly reminder.

Off the top of my head, I believe you're correct that Jeff was the first. Tim Price and Nick Brantley not long after.

The details are gruesome. Hit by prop. She was massively disfigured.
Ultimate sacrifice.
