Consensus four star linebacker recruit out of Maryland, and from a rankings perspective the highest of the Pry era (I don't count the 2022 class). This is a big time recruiting win... FAMMMMMM!!!

HOKIES!
HOKIES!!
HOKIES!!!!
KROGERING!!
KROGER PLUS!
This is a BIG time get. This has got be our highest composite score recruit in years. This is the type of win you can start building a foundation on
WOOOO. THE FOUR HORSEMEN ARE HERE😤
4 horsemen references always get a leg. Way to go hokies!
Fam!
Pry got his fucking guy. Here we go.
Great show.
Just binged it again. Season 4 comes out 7/23
Highest rated true LB since Dax that arrived at Tech
In honor of that and THIS commit
Someone needs to ask Pry at his next Pry-ssr of hell do cartwheels for this commit.
Edit: *if he'll
Stoopidt swype keyboard
Um the Pry-ssr of hell huh, I mean I'm fine selling my soul to the devil for a national championship, so I'm all in.
LFG!!!
Feels like a future center piece in the Pry-style defense
Seeing some dividends from the Elijah Brooks hire. His area of focus and the third highest recruit he's ever helped to pull in.
It looks like Pry has raised the floor of recruits from the Fuente era... this is a big step in raising the ceiling.
On3 has him as the 86th best player in the country 👀
Next?
Tomorrow morning
Comin to the Burg as an angel we've all been praying for. A certain demon for all opponents
yay!
We are so back
Wait, are we back because of this commit or because your Intel foresees big commits coming up?
In Pry we trust
I'm not alluding to any specific crooting intel, but this is a very positive development.
6-4 195? This kid is going to be terrifying when he gets in a P5 weight room
Landing Dax got me so jazzed and now this. This probably gives Bud a smile.
Excellent, now next year get 5 players of his caliber. Then the next year get 10. And so on and so forth. Then sneak into the playoffs in 2025. I think last year might (I say this with very few data points) have been the bottom. Obligatory, we bak!
People on 247 saying four more commits from the most recent visit (one of which is silent and won't come out for a while)
Edit to add - these people/posters have been wrong before, so I don't take it as fact. But figured that it would be fun to share the rumor and speed up the hype train.
Link pls? (if not vip)
It was paywalled
Oh no, not the return of the silent "commits"
Chanz wiggins birthday/commitment date is july 6, so there's a chanz it's not a mythical signing day stunt
For reference, and positive trends, I looked up the 247 team recruiting rankings for VT.
2020 = 85th
2021 = 43rd (and 1 spot ahead of Kansas)
2022 = 41st
2023 = 39th
2024 = 33rd so far
Know it is not spectacular, but - thinking like a stock buyer - I'm really liking the positive trend.
And am I the only one who, if this was 3 years ago, would be thinking something like 'yeah, what are the odds he is with us on signing day?' but who now is thinking something like 'I hope this gets even more good players signing with us.'?
EDIT: Plenty of time for things to change but, for what it's worth, as of 5:15 PM east coast time on June 13, we are now at 22nd. Would love to be here or higher on signing day.
I mean, you weren't the only one 3 years ago, but I'm still that guy. I just can't get myself to get hyped until they sign the dotted line...
I don't disagree with you at all. Just trying to stay in cautiously optimistic mode.
This is what happens when you have a cohesive recruiting strategy. Fuente was targeting one-off guys, and when they fell through he moved to the next guy on his list, then the next, then the next, etc. He wasn't necessarily starting from scratch every time he moved to the next guy, but it's not like he had years of equity built up.
Pry is building relationships with people in (relatively) small geographic area, which allows him to focus on swaths of people instead of a bunch of individuals. When he has the respect of handful of connected individuals, he has instant credibility with their other connections.
Given Pry's strategy, steady growth is not surprising. Pry's been saying (per Godfrey on numerous SZD episodes) that it will take until 2025 to get the roster where he wants it. He's got two classes left to get there. Feels like we can have a top-30 team talent composite by then.
Gemstones always get a leg
Season 3 premiers SUNDAY!!
I don't want to overreact but there's just no way we don't win a national championship in 2026, right?
If not 2026, then 2027 is 1000000% our year
Well well well... I enjoy this variety of news. More of this please.
Pry is killing it, walking the walk on recruiting trail. Now to talk the talk on the field with wins. Hopefully will get there in a couple years. Great recruiting, or so it seems right now.
My new favorite recruit. He is recruiting HARD for us
I am really liking Chris Marve and Elijah Brooks recruiting potential. Seems like they were able to pull some nice recruits in at Maryland and Vanderbilt. Pry has definitely put some key pieces in place. Both had a hand in this win.
