Unfortunately starting this thread with some bad news for Chuck Clark. It appears he suffered a serious knee injury (Suspected Torn ACL) while at an offseason workout with the Jets.
Ugh, this Chuck Clark news absolutely breaks my heart. He was set to continue his crazy ironman streak of 1,248 consecutive snaps dating back to Week 16 of 2021 for the #Jets this season. WILD!Here is the latest info on injury + Adrian Amos signing explained: #TakeFlight... pic.twitter.com/ZtcX4BYfMG— Paul Andrew Esden Jr (@BoyGreen25) June 14, 2023

I didn't realize he had left the Ravens. I am glad as I would much rather cheer for Jets than Ravens.
Nice. Not only is the Blessed Demon a 1st stringer at MLB for the Raiders, he's going to be leading that defense wearing the green dot.

Awful news for Clark, who is in the last year of a contract extension.
Hope he recovers quickly, but the timing is brutal for him.
Khalil Herbert with a 56 yard TD for the Bears:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2A0gZlKlk
Here are some other pre-season stats:
Isaiah Ford (Bears) caught 1/1 for 37 yards.
James Mitchell (Lions) caught 3/3 for 53 yards.
John Parker Romo (Lions) was 1/1 on FGs and had an extra point.
Raheem Blackshear (Panthers) 1 rush for 2 yards. 2 catches for 4 yards.
Amare Barno (Panthers) got a sack.
Dalton Keene (Texans) had a 1 yard rushing TD.
Tyrod (Giants) went 3/4 for 7 yards with 2 runs for 7 yards.
Terrell Edmunds (Eagles) had a sack.
Tim Settle (Bills) had a sack.
Joey Slye (Commanders) hit a 49 yarder and had an extra point.
Raheem Blackshear with a punt return for 10 yards and 2 kick returns for 37 yards as well.
That Herbert TD was impressive. Looking for him to have a big year, Bears might be a fun team to watch with 3 Hokies.
Better link, but I still can't tell if he slightly bobbles the ball and quickly recovers at the catch; he tucks it away, but the ball gets weirdly low when he does that.

Chamarri Conner had a 2 tackles, a sack and a PD.
Joey Slye with a game-winning 58-yard FG last night broke the Ravens' preseason win streak.

i miss joey slye....
Looks like a good chance for Brock Hoffman to make the Cowboys 53 man roster.
Isaiah Ford has been cut via injured reserve. Looks like he still gets paid?
The team and player come to an "agreement" about how long player is going to be out for and they get paid for that time. Basically until they can seek another contract with another team healthy.
Greg Stroman called up to Bears 53 man roster from the practice squad.
Who was the punk from UCLA that clocked Logan Thomas on the late hit? Thomas just took another hit like that from a Denver Bronco. The Denver defender actually got ejected from an NFL game. Not sure I can remember an NFL player rgetting ejected for a targeting hit before.
That was almost an Anquan Boldin type of hit right there.
The rules in the NFL should change... If you initiate an "illegal hit" you should be ejected and also be forced to sit out as many games as the opposing player misses due to the injury sustained by the hit.
Jordan Zumwalt?
I'm 99% sure you're right. Logan Thomas also absolutely trucked LB Myles Jack in that game, who recently retired.
Dallas center Biadasz out today.....likely Brock Hoffman gets the call up and start.
Confirmed. Hoffman starting at center for the 'Boys today.
Brock moved up from the practice squad and signed to the 53 man roster today, after the cowboys used up their 3 free game day call-ups of him in the first 3 weeks. Will back up Biadasz who is questionable for tomorrow.
Good for him.
Good for Brock sticking around. Heard his name on Dak scramble for first where he allegedly made a key block.
Dallas sure didn't lose because of him. He played a really good game. 48 fucking penalties did us in.
Yeah, he had a pretty damn good game.
👍
You and my weekly NFL parlay. $120 down the drain.
Looks like Logan Thomas has cleared concussion protocol and will play this week
The Commanders will need all the help they can get tomorrow.
Not a player (that I know of 🤣), but still a Hokie at the NFL game in London today! Love how well we represent, even in other countries!
Where's that cap from? Would like one
Edit: Nvm easily found it
I think Chris Marve wears this hat on the sidelines. I can't find it anywhere.
Edit: LOL I started my search at the OT: College Apparel that isn't Fanatics thread. Probably should have checked Fanatics, too huh?!
If that's Chris Marve, he's let himself go a little bit.
That and he caught an aggressive case of vitaiigo.

Herbert on IR for Bears out at least 4 games.
Tyrod starting for the Giants tonight.
TT had a good game, looked really good on lots of passes. Questionable play to end the half where they ran the ball on 1St n goal from the one yd line with 14 sec and no time outs. Barkley failed and clock ran out. Coach was furious. Evidently and RPO where the R was not really an option. TT got an ear full. He had a shot at redemption on the last play of the game. After a good drive to the nine yd line with 0.02 remaining, his pass for the winner went through the hands. Bummer for him.
Pass went through the hands while waller was clearly being interfered with :(
The PI on the last play was way worse than the play before. The no call at the end was definitely a make up for the PI call the play before.
Looks like Terrell Edmunds is getting traded to Tennessee.
Thank God, I hated having to even check Philly news for his stats. Titans are easier to cheer for.
Poor guy he was just getting in to Phillies baseball too
Love 'Rell, but he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire so far this year. Maybe a change of scenery will help his game. And Howie Roseman STILL got an All Pro safety out of the trade. I don't know Howie keeps doing it, but he does.
MV7 remains far and away the Hokie who played the best in green. Edmunds at least did better than Macho and Roc, but sadly, that's not a high bar.
Howie Roseman has to have some sort of blackmail on the Titans front office, right?
Joey Slye kicked a 61 yarder for the WFT today
after his good 56 yarder was voided by motion
https://www.nfl.com/news/giants-qb-tyrod-taylor-taken-to-local-hospital-...
Tyrod just can't catch a break
Unfortunately it's that he catches all the breaks...even the freak ones
Team doctor punctures his lung
Realizing today Logan Thomas has 5 sons. Pry and company need to get in early.
#Thomae2VT
Aren't only 2 of them his biological sons? He adopted the other 3 I believe. Some of them might not have his height.
You are correct, but he did say that the oldest one is build like DK Metcalf...
Speaking of Metcalf....making a Middle Linebacker look like a school kid
His wife played volleyball at SDSU so the height is in there. And I can't find details but I've seen the father referred to as a "Super Bowl winning RB." Even if LT isn't the bio father I'd say the genetics are sound.
That was me, the adopted sons' father won a Superbowl as backup RB. I knew LTs wife in high school thanks to volleyball social circle. Haven't seen her in 15 years, but heard a few years back she was dating LT3 and everything seems to have worked out for them.
Chamarri Conner just got his first NFL interception for the Chiefs.

I saw Mitchell in on a couple snaps near the end of the broncos game. I think he's been on the IR most of the season too
Tyrod got the second half start for the Giants and almost pulled it off. Beautiful 70 yard td
pass.
I miss him ❤️
Brock Hoffman starting at Guard for a sick Zach Martin for the Cowboys today-
Hoffman downfield trying to push Tony Pollard into the End Zone on a heads up play. guy is busting ass tonight
Pollard touchdown running right behind Brock Hoffman
Lions news: TE Laporta went down in middle of game (knee). James Mitchell had 1 target 1 catch 24 yards. (Was already in on most snaps blocking)
Probably looking to be the feature TE in at least first round depending on laPortas availability
Taylor finished 23-for-32 for 297 yards passing, including a 19-yard touchdown pass to Darius Slayton in the second quarter to lead Giants over Eagles.
Further justifying his career backup contract. Lets be honest being paid $10,000,000 a year to ride the bench and absorb a lot less punishment has been a good career for him.
Todd Washington out as OL coach in Jax
Cody Grimm got let go last night by Jags also. So now the only Hokies connections are in the ticket office (Anthony Enzo) and Leah who works in coaches office. (Former assistant for coaches at Tech)
Jeff King former two sport athlete for Hokies interviewing for LA Chargers GM position.
Article
Interesting, always a smart dude. Hope he gets it.
Holy moly! Pulaski kid in the big time.
Wow! I had no idea he was an NFL executive now. Great for him.
He was a fantastic football player, and gritty on the basketball court.
Did he get the job?
Looks like they're taking their time (They fired the old GM on Dec 15th) and interviewing a bunch of candidates. I found 12 as the highest number during my googling. I'd be a bit surprised if he lands it, but it's a good sign that he's getting the calls.
I just saw that Cole Beck, WR has declared for the NFL draft. I'm sure he'll run a good time, but not much tape catching a ball.
Not sure he'll get an invite to the combine. He'll get timed at pro day, though.
Do they do the regional combines anymore?
Does he really need to run a 40 when they can throw on tape of ncaa track champs?
You mean this tape?

There is not a position name of Special Teams Gunner/returner...
Yes, but there are actual special team specialists who have succeeded in the NFL (and aren't kick returners). Patriots had a guy I think for a long time who was basically a gunner/special teams guy
yea, and Beck can excel there. NFL draft just needs to give a position name such that Beck and others don't have to be listed as "WR."
Dzansi was elevated to active roster by the Bucs.
Chamarri versus Tim tonight
Chamarri with the coverage on Kittle on that play.
Congratulations to Super Bowl Winning Hokie

Chamarri Conner
2 tackles too!
LET'S GO
HOKIES!!!
Just read today that all-time Virginia Tech QB (/s) great Nick Sorensen is the 49ers new defensive coordinator. Wow, I didn't even know he was coaching in the NFL.
I also didn't realize that Jeff King was an NFL executive until he was interviewed for the Chargers GM position a few weeks ago.
Which makes me think that someone (more enterprising than me) should start a Hokies Running the NFL thread. Just a suggestion...
Think it was on Hokie twitter that he and Tapp were staffers on the Super Bowl team.
Heard that Logan Thomas got released from the Commanders
And kinda burned a bridge on the way out.
Doubt it keeps him from another contract but was surprised what he said..
Considering NFL players can endorse Hitler and still get a contract, I think he'll be ok
I think a lot of his release was age and injury related. But he definitely should get a pick up somewhere.
Are there any links to an actual quote? This seems like something a fake account that just wants the team name to go back to Redskins would say.
I try not spend too much time in the swamp of fake twitter, but I would like to think that LT isn't a giant tool.
A relatively quick browse shows this is a fan account and somebody that clearly is not happy with the Commanders branding. I doubt Logan Thomas said this.
Insiders report Logan Thomas to the Falcons as QB.
(Not serious, of course. If you believe insider sources, then the Falcons will have a 12-man QB room this year.)
Commanders said Thomas was released due to age (32) and injury history....
Then they sign Zach Ertz (33) with a longer injury history.
Ertz is much cheaper. ~5 million vs. ~8 million.
Won't matter when he misses half the season which has been the case the last five years. Most games played in that time was 11 games. Had two seasons of 6 and 7 games.
Isn't it nice to know new coaches, owners, etc. that the Commanders are still doing Commander things.
Didn't want to start a new thread- since this was about the NFL anyway, sad to see Chris Mortensen has passed away from cancer.
FUCK CANCER.
Yeah, he's one of those broadcasters that you get so used to seeing, you can't really imagine the sport without him.
And honestly, he was just really great at his job.
Did we have anybody at the combine this year?
No. 321 were invited and no Hokies. Payne is the only one that has projected draft rankings and most of those are 7th rd.
Peoples, Pollard and Kendricks are all getting Free Agent grades so far.
If none get drafted it would be only the second time since 1994 that didn't see a Hokie drafted.
Legacy of the Fuente era right here.
Yep the other year was 2019
Shocked there were no NFL gems in that 75th rated class Fuente signed.
You mean like Dorian Strong?
