Has been a major factor in getting Triumph where it is.

This hurts.
Ouch. He was involved in grassroots efforts to improve NIL and the monogram club. I gather the move is because he's pursuing a full time career pivot into NIL/college athletics - if true, happy for him, but still hurts.
Also...San Diego weather....
Isn't SDSU also soon to be joining PAC?
Allegedly... it's far from finalized.
Not saying it's not a good move for him. Just saying this was someone who basically went from cheerleader to volunteer to expert in the space, and he did all that just because he loves (and played for) the Hokies. The definition of 'this is home'. It's not a statement about the state of VT, but it's a big loss.
Sometimes you have to leave and spread your wings. But this is home and we will welcome him back anytime he wants to come home. That's part of this being home. I hope he succeeds and is able to grow and develop himself in this new field in ways that might not be possible in a small town, and maybe he learns things that would help and he comes back and make us stronger in the future.
This is what happens when you have good people doing a good job. I'm sure he would have liked to stay if we could have offered the same position at better pay, and may come back with more diverse experience if we need a new replacement at coordinator in the future. Good for him. Always nice to see Hokies family members doing well, even if it means spending some time with another team.
At least at the launch of the website, Triumph only had one paid staff member (Mitch, who was hired from PSU, I think). All Hill's work with Triumph NIL was unpaid. He's still a part-time owner and was putting in a lot of effort with no immediate return (like a lot of entrepreneurs of startups).
I imagine that he is essentially the Triumph's Mitch for SDSU, the full-time employee that gets paid to build out the NIL space.
Assuming he still holds his shares and the fact he's always been a passionate Hokie, I imagine that he'll always at least be quasi-involved with Triumph, maybe even as a board member or some other advisory role.
Great for him in regards to carving out what appears to be an upwardly mobile path in a relatively new industry.
Hopefully, and I have little reason to think otherwise, he has built the foundation of Triumph VT in such a way that it will continue to perform competitively moving forward.
Looks like he will have some challenges right away at SDSU....
