Rebels is among the best story telling in the new stuff.
Well, parts of Rebels anyway. I kinda put Rebels right in the middle of the storytelling quality with the end of Clone Wars, Mando, and Rogue One having better peaks.

I haven't finished clone wars. So, I can't fully judge. I feel like Andor is the most intriguing to me. But because we only have one season, and an extended story to tell, I think the jury is still out on it. Bad Batch has some pretty deep moments as well.

Bad Batch is actually my favorite of all the shows. Was happy to see the characters pulled in some to Clone Wars but definitely would enjoy more Bad Batch.

Big hopes on the series. Make or break is ultimately going to be the portrayal of Thrawn. If he is not the darkly menacing maniacal genius he is then this fails quickly IMO.
Also... don't pull a Book of Boba and make characters suck and nothing like their actual character. More Mando and Andor please.

1000% this. I don't want to see a Thrawn redemption story, or he's evil for the sake of evil, or any other recycled villain tropes. Thrawn should be brilliant, ruthless, and unlike any other "bad guy" we seen in live-action SW.

I really need to keep my expectations in check for this show because if I hype it up too much I'll set myself up for disappointment. Rebels ended in 2018 and I just assumed I would never see these characters again so this series is a long time coming for me.

These shows are the only reason I keep Disney Plus. Definitely got more the Rebels vibe than a mainly Ahsoka storyline. Agree with above on wanting a younger Ahsoka story but they probably won't with the Clone Wars having such a heavy Ahsoka presence.

I can't remember where I read/heard it but there was a theory thrown out there that basically said a lot of the reason for the inconsistency of Mando season 3 was because Filoni was so focused on Ahsoka. There seems to be a lot riding on how this show performs going forward with this universe they're building so it makes sense. It also makes sense when the best episodes of Mando season 3 were the ones that had a Filoni writing credit on them.

Mando season 3 stunk because Kathleen Kennedy took over the storyline and mandated a completely different focus and ending. If Filoni and Favreau had been allowed to run the season, it would have been completely different. KK is a cancer that has been slowly killing the SW franchise for years.

Really? I was pleasantly surprised at S3 of mando after a rewatch. It was more coherent storytelling than S2 for me, which was a little all over the place imo.

Looks like a Rebels follow up rather than an Ahsoka follow up. And I'm ok with that. Rebels is among the best story telling in the new stuff.
would love a younger Ahsoka series pre-rebels. gritty anti-hero vibes
Porque no dos

Yeah I agree on those last two. I haven't finished S2 of Bad Batch yet and Andor is half a story, but both are also up there by the looks of it.

hope to see all the nuance he has in the books, his motivation, his unique brand of clever ruthlessness, etc etc etc

What's the over/under on Chopper's kill count in this series? I'd say at least a few hundred.
10s of thousands. I'm betting he takes out an entire fleet.
He is a hateful little bastage
Cool trailer! As someone who has never seen any of the Star Wars animated shows though, am I going to be completely lost?
really good chance. this trailer is filled with appearance of characters from Star Wars: Rebels.
Might be able to find some youtube videos to give you a crash course on the setting and the context

Yep, loved each season of Mando thus far, and often for different reasons.
Curious if you have decided on a 2023 season challenge yet
You should have read my AMA!
TLDR: not yet, I wait for inspiration to strike.
Hardly. KK is an exec, not a director. She's not as omnipotent as the youtube conspiracy theorists think she is.
The source for all of the Kathleen Kennedy hate is internet trolls. They just blame her for anything within SW that they don't like.
I am excited for this show. Count me in.
Nice backup option if we suck at football again lol
