The night that scumbag beats us next year with illegal players and 7th year covid guys is really going to piss me off. It really is. I almost hope its a blow out from the start- get it over with.

Too bad it is at Auburn, or I'd at least say we could have some great signs and chants. I'm sure somebody would be able to come up with something good like the tea bags and chanting at Paulus in Cassell. Oh well, maybe MY can pull off a miracle with the boys.

Incoming Tennessee creating a retroactive law stripping the NCAA of its authority in the state

Much like what has been the proven Notre Dame/ACC deal - this has zero meaningful impact. none. They pay a fine, their OLD coach gets in trouble, and they lose 2 schollys per year given to friends and punters. And they will get around that with the transfer portal etc- it will actually help them weed the bottom of their roster. Sham

They are going to cut the scholarships in one massive year. However, there will be COVID Surplus special scholarship fund that will take care of those players for that year. It will be a one year "Student Athlete" scholarship not a strictly athletic scholarship.

Cause, you know, don't want to hurt the kids.

If they weren't in the SEC, an $8 million fine might hurt, but they ARE in the SEC, so not so much.

Yeah we see this everywhere for fines, unless you are talking about percentage of revenue fines have no teeth. Eight million is just the cost of doing business.

they are also fined 3%

I'm actually surprised that NCAA is handing out any "penalties" for recruiting violations in the age of NIL. Especially to a SEC school.

Edit: after reading through the article I'm going to change penalties to "penalties". I highly doubt that Tennessee will change anything that they have been doing.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

NCAA is counting the 16 scholarship cuts they have done over the last 2 years so it will only be 12 over the next 5 years. And Pruitt got hit with a 6 year show-cause penalty.

Dammit, have to dig my shocked face out of the back of the garage for this one

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The official motto of the SEC is "If you ain't cheating you ain't trying"

Dang, that's been my moto for NASCAR for years. Just must be a farther down South thing.

But truly, there is no shock that an SEC school is caught cheating. They just didn't do a good job in covering it up.

We all knew this was coming. Pretty sure this possibility was accounted for in Hurpels contract.

That's about as bad as the punishment could be while still being a slap on the wrist that won't affect them on field

In the NIL world why is loss of scholarship a thing? Here is my 4* preferred walk on ...

True, their NIL deals will be a little bit bigger for those former scholarships players.
