We have to get this kid. Absolute beast. Link here. We are competing with Florida State and Georgia among others, so it definitely won't be easy but right now it seems that he is a Tech lean, let's hope it stays that way and he picks the Hokies.

It would be nice. We have a few other Oscar Smith player's so hopefully that helps.
Good thing UVA hasn't offered him. I bet JC is going to recruit him harder than ever.
Hopefully he picks the good guys on Signing day. He' ll be welcomed in Blacksburg.
Imagine this - SDE - Josh Sweat (considered a VT lean by 247), DT - Darvin Taylor ((considered a VT lean by 247), DT - Tim Settle, WDE - Michael Barnett (as posted earlier still has VT as his favorite). "Hey, it could happen!"
And possibly Clelin Ferrell as well.
Kind of like last season, when we were penciling in a defensive line rotation of Hand, Nnandi, Brown and Holmes for 2015.
Did you have to do that....
Everyone was thinking it
I thought it was known early on that we had no shot at Brown. But I do see your point. I am not trying to get my hopes up here, but hopefully with Stroman putting the full court press on him Sweat will pick the good guys.
Stroman is the one recruiting Settle. They are best friends. I'm assuming that JC is going to recruit Sweat.
More like Jaylen Bradshaw
True. He probably knows him better.
Er, my bad. Got confused there. Thx.
I don't think anyone penciled in Brown or Holmes last season...they were out of it for us pretty early and I'm certaintly not penciling anyone in this year. It's just a dream scenario. That's why I added the Angels in the Outfield quote...
We were Holmes leader at this point last year, leader until he cut us altogether in April.
I'm refusing to consider these recruits until we at least get to April. If I had more restraint, I'd wait till after NSD.
He seems to like to play around on Twitter. I see him committing to us, then Tennessee, then Florida State, then Clemson all within the same day.
Hmm...
That's a fake twitter I'm pretty sure. I looked through it before and someone posted that it was a hack...
It is a fake account. He isn't on twitter (or if he is, his account isn't accessible.)
Legs for both of you ^^. I feel better.
4 star RB Deshawn McClease also goes to Oscar Smith. Pulling in one could help with the other as well.
We are supposed to be looking good with him, correct?
Yep, UNC appears to be the most competition for him but he is considered a strong Tech lean.
I saw we also offered AJ Turner from Centreville. Couldn't find a star rating on rivals, but he had a great state championship game against Oscar Smith.
247Sports has him as a higher end three star running back/safety. 4.45 40 yard dash, 33 inch vertical, and 4.3 shuttle run time according to his HUDL page. Seems quite a few schools are recruiting him for the defensive side of the ball more so than as a running back. I think we may be in that list of looking at him for the safety position since it lists Torrian and Bud as the coaches recruiting him for Tech. He has offers from both South Carolina, Florida and Florida State so we have some stiff competition for this kid.

Possibly DB because Torrian is in on his recruitment, but Bud is responsible for NoVA so that's why he's the recruiter.
I'm friends with one of McClease's cousins and I think he's pretty high on us. I'm keeping my ear close to that situation.
Remember, if the ears touch it's a NCAA violation.
Or a personal space violation.
It's an ncaa violation if I find out through a personal contact what his intentions are? Am I missing something, how is that an ncaa violation? Joe, the CEO of a clearly VT biased small business, can interview a prospect but I can't find out a prospect's intentions through his family? I must be missing something.
I've been keeping in touch with his cousin already, my comment doesn't change anything, nobody's violating any personal space man. I won't say anything further.
I think you missed the sarcastica.
Although I thought "ears touching" would make it pretty obvious...
Gotcha, my bad. Folks on these boards have been overly sensitive about ncaa violations through twitter and such so I thought you were being serious. And for the record, I like that Joe can interview prospects. I have no problem at all with it, I was just using it as a basis of comparison.
Looks like the Thoroughbreds reign is finally coming to a close; I don't think any of the big players in VA for 2015 are considered leans to them right now. Now if we could just keep half the top ten in state, this class will be great.
and this:
Being lazy and not wanting to goodle it, what's SPARQ?
Sweat did apparently finish at the top of this combine event according to these results:
