Have you had your fill of conference realignment, sneaker deal, and AI content? Good news, Fall Camp has started and we can actually start having off-the-rails conversations directly related to the football program.
As always my summary notes:
- The entire practice was open to the media. Never happened under Pry, probably hasn't happened in a while.
- Pry wants better execution, cleaner play in practice. 😱 Plz no more pre-snap penalties.
- Both QBs threw the ball better day 1. Have to watch the film to make determination whether QB play, defensive play/coverage, communication, or route running made the difference day 2.
- Still sorting out the fifth OL.
- Freshman will be working in at DE, DB, WR. A lot of youth in the 2-deep this year.
- 1-2 freshman DBs need to be ready in September. Williams, Johnson, Lovett or a combination
- Cotman moved to star.
- Hanson will be a student assistant this year.
- Likes the direction of the staff. Pry says he's involved more offensively this year.
- Camp is structured as 5 mini camps. 3 days on, day off, 3 days on, day off, etc. Staff uses 4th day to evaluate previous 3 days and adjust next mini-camp.
- Mike LB competition is a "heck of a competition" Tisdale getting more reps at Will. McDonald and Keller looking good, Johnson and Stone also getting reps.

Great summary, thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see what this team can actually do.
Thanks as always for keeping up with this. High value, positive contribution to the community.
Really love the tidbit about Jesse Hanson sticking around as a student assistant. Lots of young OL and a pretty young roster up and down -- great to have that experience and buy in present around the team.
Really liking this.
"Pry wants better execution, cleaner play in practice. 😱 Plz no more pre-snap penalties."

I'm not looking for more wins this year. Looking for getting better on execution and a lot of young players that will be getting better over time playing. Everything we do should be geared towards 2024 and 2025, not trying to squeeze out 1 extra win next season. Don't get me wrong, I'd like more wins. But lots of young players developing yielding 3-4 wins means a lot more to me than people who will be gone after next year getting 5-6 wins. Hopefully we get both.
That's my hope, get some quality reps with the younger guys, keep them in the program, and get everything put together in 24-25. Hopefully 23 is a little easier and more fun to watch than the last few years regardless of wins.
I know this is what Pry said (probably being diplomatic) but we all know this is what was meant:
Pry comes across as very personable and a great guy. He has qualities that remind me of Bobby Bowden and CFB when you hear him speak. You can't help but root for him to succeed on the field.
Where can I get that sweatshirt!?
Came here for Pry's hot take on conference realignment. Very disappointed.
This is a likely question at the next media availability. However, I'm not sure you'll get a spicy answer. Something along these lines, "It's hard to predict how this will all go, but I know we've got to be competitive to put Virginia Tech in the best position possible".
If you're looking for hot takes I think I know a place for you though.
We found Pry's sleeper account.

Just far too many hours watching his interviews. I'm working on pryGPT.
Hell just make a website called CoachGPT that spits out coach-speak answers to any prompt. All I ask is a 20% cut when you sell it for billions.
