OT: "Ahsoka" discussion thread feat. Spoilers

Star Wars live action miniseries returns to Disney+ tonight at 9 pm eastern with Ahsoka

Looks like episodes will drop Tuesdays at 9 pm instead of midnight Tuesday into Wednesday -- this will make spoilers incredibly difficult to avoid :(

Dang you so anxious you gotta start the thread before we can even talk about it!

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I do typically start the thread on release day, just that with the bumped up release time it feels early

I mean I didn't know it was coming on a 9 tonight so for that I thank you.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I love the earlier release. The midnight release was awful, you couldn't watch it until you got home from work, but you were exposed to spoilers all day.

This show may not get great ratings, but as a Rebels fan it's exactly what I want so far.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

I agree, it felt like Rebels and I think they did a great job casting the live action actors. I'm also glad they made a point to say Sabine is not force sensitive, up until that point in the first two episodes I was really questioning whether I missed something important during Rebels.

It felt like it was Passover with all the Easter Eggs

I'm a Star Wars nerd, but not a fully observant one. Do you have any details?

Lots of voice actor from Rebels reprising their roles in live action.

Sabine's tower was one of Ezra's hideouts

Ezra's lightsaber

Morgan Elsbeth coming back from Mando season 2

Marrok possibly the Eighth Brother

HK droids from KotOR

The last scene of episode 2 is the same as the final scene of Rebels.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

at what point is something just part of the plot and not an easter egg? -- eg most of these things listed. it's one thing to see a temple knight mask in Luthen Rael's artifacts and antiquities shop, it's another to see ezra's lightsaber being looked after by ezra's friend on the planet where ezra lived during a show that is set to search for ezra and thrawn, etc.

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Also the ship - Eye of Sion - another KoTOR reference

I've been reading a lot that the Rakata could be part of the series. Particularly since you had Luthan mention them in Andor with the kyber crystal necklace being from the time of the "uprising against Rakatan invaders."

and Morgan giving the comment about the weird temple/astronomy place thingy having been built from an ancient people from another galaxy or whatever the language was. i just remember thinking "oh, was 'a long time ago in a galaxy far far away' too campy?"

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Live-action Chopper made me very happy. I should have rewatched Rebels leading up to this as a refresher.

I'd love to see a map plus timeline of the Star Wars universe with where everyone is at. I hope they are building to an epic coming together movie or event.

I think that's in the credits scene where all the lines converge on one planet.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

I'm pretty sure Filoni has said the plan is 2 seasons of Ahsoka and then he's planning a movie event to bring the Mando/Boba/Ahsoka/maybe other shows I can't remember right now all together. I think he said a lot of it depends on how well Ahsoka does.

Edit: clarity

I'm looking forward to it. Chopper is the man-bot.

Star of Ep 2 IMHO

I enjoyed it. I hope they allow Rosario Dawson to be a little more expressive, but otherwise I enjoyed the vibe. Ray Stevenson (RIP) is tremendously unappreciated for his body of work.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Ray Stevenson is gonna steal this series. If anybody hasn't seen Black Sails, he's only in about 2 seasons, but he's awesome.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Kill the Irishman is also a favorite of mine. You don't get presence from many actors these days. I used to compare Field of Dreams and how Burt Lancaster and James Earl Jones completely own the stage when on scene with Costner, even though Costner was a good actor.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Costner was a good actor

It goes up and down- he has an amazing presence in a lot of work past his celebrity peak (3000 Miles to Graceland... awful movie but he was a revelation, Tin Cup, the Hatfields and McCoys, and the clips I have seen from Yellowstone he carries the room.) He was also tremendous in Bull Durham. However, I also get that he was pretty rotten in some of his biggest hits, particularly Field of Dreams and Robin Hood. Point taken. But, a lot of decent actors would look mighty small next to Burt Lancaster and Morgan Freeman.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Tin Cup is indeed one of my favorites.

I thought he was pretty good in No Way Out too

Onward and upward

Agreed live action Ahsoka could benefit from being a bit more expressive. Obviously she's older and experienced a lot of hard times, so she can't just be Snips anymore. But it feels like there's a little bit of her fire missing still.

Why everybody always got elaborate star maps to their location.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. All these dark Jedi or whatever around though and Luke is off somewhere grilling hotdogs on his lightsaber.

Chopper is my boy.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Yeah, are we going to get a Luke cameo in this or what?

Welp, his dad just showed up! Maybe this is before her appearance in Boba and Anakin tells her to seek him out when this is all done?

First episode looks to set the story. It was a bit slow but I think they were focused on laying groundwork from Rebels. If you haven't watched Rebels should be a must watch to understand the character background. They definitely did a great job connecting the cast to the characters.

Is rebels animated?

Edit: I started it, even though it's animated. 2 ep in and it's decent, but I'm still pissed that it's animated.

Yes but absolutely worth watching. It's a good storyline and will give you a solid background on these characters history.

Rebels might be my favorite Star Wars show. It's very good.

Andor is mine, but Rebels is fantastic which is why the two episodes of Ahsoka have me so excited

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

You're so possessive

/s

We put the K in Kwality

Andor was really great. I'm nerd for all the force and Jedi stories, and I wish it had some tie-in there.

See I'm the opposite. I'm fascinated by non-Jedi Star Wars stories. Most of the Empire is non-force wielders, how do they live under Imperial Rule? How was the Rebellion built off the backs of regular people? What are the other cultures throughout the Galaxy (Nightsisters, Pirates, retired clones, etc) and what stories do they have to tell?

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

COUNTER-POINT: LASER SWORDS

I second this. And the only thing Star Wars has over Star Trek is Lightsabers.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Ngl, good counterpoint.

What's even better is a laser sword with a gun, which I'm pretty sure I saw in Sabine's Ezra box.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Best casting so far has been ME Winstead. She is nailing the depiction of Hera Syndulla.

national treasure but make it star wars. i'll be back though. love that the first two eps lead directly to the final scene of rebels

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

I couldn't tell if this was leading to the finale of rebels (mostly because we didn't have Ahsoka the white lol) or if it was just supposed to mirror it, and I'm still not 100% sure. That's kind of the beauty of the time jump that happened at the end of the rebels finale, Sabine could have gone and been an apprentice of Ahsoka, they have a falling out, and this is Ahsoka coming back for help in the finale of Rebels, or the finale of Rebels could have been what we saw and this is another time jump beyond that one and is sort of the aftermath of their first attempt to find Ezra with the final scene being a nice homage to the Rebels finale. Either way: well played Filoni!

Definitely interested to see where this goes - seems like they will definitely weave in a bit of Rebels, and already a fair amount of KotOR references makes me curious to see what else they want to bridge in. Considering this will be the modern "Thrawn trilogy" - this will have to be a big splash. But so far seems promising

Also, I'm about 90% sure that the masked assassin "Marrok" is an approximation of Galen Marek, aka Starkiller from Force Unleashed.

I want to get back into Star wars. I haven't watched since the series of movies came out. What is my path?

To be prepped for Ahsoka character history, the animated Rebels is what you need to catch up on although Rebels also brings in an older version of the Bad Batch clones so thats worth a watch first if you have the time.

Fan theories on who Marrok could actually be under the mask.

I would love it if it was Galen Marek (aka Starkiller) from the 2008 force unleashed game since that is one I actually played. That might be too obvious with the name though and that would be quite the tie in since I don't think that character has appeared anywhere else.

The other two that seem to be gaining traction is either Ezra or Barris Offee

could just be the 8th Brother, former inquisitor

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Sam Witwer, who was Starkiller, was noted in the credits as "other voices" so think the Galen Marek / Marrok connection is likely.

I'd love if Filoni figured a way to approximate that character into canon. Force Unleashed was such a phenomenal game.

Yeah but Ahsoka basically replaced Starkiller. He would be an out of place character at this point. I'd rather have Mara Jade anyway. There are not enough redheads in the star wars universe.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Baylen and night sister are giving major GoT vibes - their names, their accents, their look, etc. it's really throwing me off. Also, the credits animation is very Game-of-Throne-y too

Loved episode 3

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Im all in on this show. For a 37 minute episode (with credits), that was a blast.

It moved so fast I was very bummed when it was over. Ahsoka going out on the wing was next-level amazing. I haven't figured out if Sabine will end up controlling some of the force or not.

That sequence is one of the coolest things Star Wars has done in a while. I think she will on some level, but it might not be a very high level. They emphasized the point that everyone has access to the force just not always the skill/discipline/talent. That plus she clearly figured something out when she blocked Ahsoka while blindfolded.

Episode 3 is enough action to keep it interesting while still very slowly building the story.
Thus far, this should be the model for how Battlefield Earth should be done, should anyone ever be brave enough to do that again.

The whole Marrok = Ezra took a hit with last nights episode since they showed the actor for the character and it is not the same guy that plays Ezra in the credits.

It does still make me wonder if there is another character that we already know behind the mask, as they seem to be going a long way to disguise the face and voice to make you think it could be.

yeah well the actor for Sheik and the actress for Zelda weren't the same, either...

Would somebody please tell Rosario Dawson or remind Dave Filoni that the Ahsoka of Clone Wars is a passionate person who often acted impulsively. I get it that this is the grown up version of her that suffered through Order 66 and all the imperial persecution under Vader and Palpatine. I still want to see her emote something, anything please. Enjoying the series otherwise.

Seconded, especially with Rosario Dawson, who does an amazing job of emoting through expression and voice inflection.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

I think the goal of this show is to get her back to that. The last time we saw her she got pulled right out of the moment where she found out what happened to Anakin. We never really got to see her process that grief. I think that when we see her in Boba that takes place after this show, and she seems much more at peace with herself and like the Ahsoka we know.

As someone with a lot of love for Rebels it's really hard keeping my expectations in check. While the wife and I were waiting for 9pm before the launch episode we re-watched the last episode of Rebels on a whim to kill some time. Really glad we did that, lol.

So yeah I'm enjoying this series and have no complaints.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

God damn this show is firing on all cylinders. The Sabine-Ahsoka tag team at the beginning was awesome, was not expecting World Between Worlds at the end

Also, Ahsoka Obi-Waning Marrok like Maul.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Also a nice homage to how she took out that Inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi. I listened to a podcast where they talked about the meaning of Huyang's line of coming from a long line of non traditional Jedi and how you can kind of trace Qui-Gon to Ahsoka and it's so true. You see as much of Obi-Wan in Ahsoka as you do Anakin

Even further than that.

Qui-Gon's master was Count Dooku
Count Dooku's master was Yoda

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Outside of Marrok becoming dust instead of some kind of reveal, this was awesome. Ray Stevenson is amazing, and I sure hope they can hash out his story a bit. Was he a Jedi that lost the faith, or did he go into hiding and he is just doing what he needs to do to get by? Or did he flip, and was actively working for the Empire the whole time as a Vader stooge? That has me more intrigued than anything.

My brother in Tysons Corner says they are playing next week's episode in theaters. My guess it's gonna be a crazy episode. Maybe a Clone Wars flashback.

I was left disappointed by ahsoka v baylon fight. seemed a boring and very unlike ahsoka.

1) she didn't use dual sabers. why? because she wants to grab the map... OK then she would just turn one off. didn't by that at all.
2) I also think cartoon ahsoka would have been smart enough to simply destroy the computer linking the map download and not even need to focus so much on grabbing the map.
3) I think Dawson plays her way too stiff. I hope the comment above is true and she comes back to being more like she was in rebels. she's so emotionless. the whole "can I trust you" lines ... just way out of character. she literally left the order because they didn't trust her. not buying that at all.
4) Sabine seems more like a newb than the seasoned professional she should be. the one scene at beginning with both working together was amazing but then every other time it's like she is just learning how to fight.

so far I really like the show but it seems a too safe and ahsoka is way too stiff.

I said #1 and #2 to my wife while we watched. Also when she got close to the pillar, she could have cut the pillar in half rather than go for the orb.

The other really off part was when they jumped to hyper space, the other ships didn't really sustain direct contact so not sure how they jumped without a true collision since the Droid said that the ships were blocking their path. The hyper jump just created turbulence enough to cause all the ships tumbling ahappen.

Just seemed like in all these instances it was more about they had to jump to continue the storyline and piecing the prior scenes together to make that happen.

Wasn't a fan of the vulnerable Sabine setup either. That just didn't track with Rebels for me.

yep agreed all around.

Ahsoka beat Darth Maul in the crumbling rafters of a mandalorian hanger actively being destroyed. She would make mince meat out of Baylon, unless they showed him incredibly more adept at the light Saber. instead he just use blunt force hacks. No way in hell does that best ahsoka.

The hyper jump scene, I am hoping, is retconning the disastorous last jedi bullshit where they jumped into the star destroyer to kill it in a suicide run. So I'll take it. anything that burns that movie down gets kudos from me.

I am finally all caught up after being away for parts 3 and 4!!! 4 was fun

oh BABY

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Omg that was amazing. We have to be getting more Anakin, right? Unless it was a misdirection there's a line from Anakin in one of the trailers that wasn't in this episode and he kind of left it open ended with the "there's hope for you yet" line.

I need everything that's happening in this timeline to build to some huge crossover event, beyond this.

From what I have read, the story lines in the Mandalorian/BoBF and Ahsoka are all supposed to all be building to the Dave Filoni directed Star Wars movie. This is one of the 3 movies being announced, with the others being one staring Rey and set after the events of Rise of Skywalker, and one that will focus on the Old Republic era and days of the early Jedi (that one could be very cool if done right).

Oh hell yes. I cannot wait for this.

Mando + Grogu riding a Mythosaur + Bo Katan + Boba + Fennec Shand + Ahsoka + Sabine + Hera vs Thrawn

I got your crossover right here.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

That shot of Anakin turning into Vader and hearing the breathing before seeing what Vader would have looked like outside of the suit was just *chefs kiss*

Edit: I also love the Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor Easter eggs with the force echoes

That was one heck of an episode. Live action Clone Wars, tossing in some Anakin - definitely starting to head towards endgame.

But also absolutely this can't be wrapped in a season (unless there are more surprises) - feels like there will have to be an S2 for sure

Filoni said the goal is 2 seasons of Ahsoka plus whatever the next step in the Mandalorian is all leading to a Mando-verse crossover movie.

As stated previously, give me a young Ahsoka series.

I do continue to like the show but in general I think shows that have flashbacks that are significantly better than the main story are inherently in trouble. The actor playing young ahsoka did a better job in 10 mins than Dawson has at playing the character at any time. And I really love Dawson as an actor. The filoni touch of morphing Anakin and Vader in the smokey haze was awesome. Christensen delivered as Anakin and said dialogue that was meaningful. great stuff.

The lightsaber swordsmanship immediately fell off a cliff when the flashback ended, from pretty darn good to slow and boring. Maybe.. regrettably, Dawson is too old for how active and nimble Ahsoka should be.

The purrgil at the end was expected but pleasantly. I think it would have been cooler if they arrived as Ahsoka was being "taken in", causing havoc with the fleet taking evasive maneuvers and whisking her away. But still a great scene.

The thought of space whales that can fly, exit the atmosphere of a planet, breathe in space, and travel faster than the speed of light just because they want to is totally ridiculous. And I was absolutely captivated by them the whole time

"The Big Ten is always using excuses to cancel games with us. First Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin. After that, Wisconsin. The subsequent cancellation with Wisconsin comes to mind too. Now Penn State. What's next? Wisconsin?" -HorseOnATreadmill

It's even better when you consider that Huyang is played by David Tennant, and David Tennant was the Tenth Doctor on Doctor Who, and Doctor Who had (a) space whale(s) on one episode (sure, it was the Eleventh Doctor that had the space whale episode, but it's basically the same thing if you squint). The crossover you didn't know you needed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's an amazing tidbit!

I need it explained how Anakin ended up in the World between Worlds, but I love how Anakin was Anakin, in that the both the good and the bad were reflected. I really like how Obi Wan and Ahsoka have really given Hayden Christensen new life as Anakin/Vader, I always thought he was a victim of some rather hokie writing by Lucas in the prequels.

Ahsoka could have imagined him right?

Live action Thrawn did not disappoint.

kinda looked like Elon and boy the internet sure does agree with me on that one

Thrawn done got himself a beer gut while in exile.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

So, why is Thrawn stuck on this planet? Looks like he has a star destroyer(?), can he not just drive/fly away?

I'm pretty sure the engines are damaged. Plus they are hopping galaxies which it is not designed to do.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I don't think it's powerful enough even at full strength to jump between galaxies. They made a point of saying that the ship morgan and Baylon used required like 8 new and super powerful hyperdrives to make the jump. Now how they're going to get the star destroyer back across the galaxy is my question. Is Morgan's ship going to somehow "push" the star destroyer back through?

Is Morgan's ship going to somehow "push" the star destroyer back through?

That's what I assumed when they built the giant Hyperspace Ring. Otherwise they would have just built a ship.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I was wondering this myself. Can they pull that thing right into the middle of the circle and bring it along with them? Also, wtf were they loading onto that Star Destroyer from the temple? Did they talk about that at all? It looked like they were coffins or some kind of suspension pods or something. Maybe one of you that are more up to date on the Thrawn/Rebels lore can shed some light.

Well in Jedi: Fallen Order and Rebels (? I think?) we see Nightsisters re-animate the dead and if this is their original home world there may be enough to build Thrawn an army to supplement his limited number of storm troopers. They did mention whatever they are is coming from the catacombs

yes, the catacombs comment coupled with whatever night sister magic was animating Marrok makes me think we're in for a zombie army of sorts

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

oooh maybe zombie Rakatan warriors. I've read up a little be on that, they went down because of their use of the dark side of the force or something. I posted above about a theory I read that they could show up, and their was a line in Andor that brought them back into cannon.

I love how Filoni is basically just like fuck it I'm bringing back all the old legends shit that was initially removed from cannon when Disney bought the franchise.

Not just canonizing for the sake of doing do, but bringing it back and canonizing it all pretty cohesively -- even the og thrawn trilogy novels are getting the filoni treatment in Bad Batch

Pretty cool tidbit I read about was the new term that Skoll introduced in this episode, calling Ezra one of the Bokken Jedi.

Pretty cool for Filoni to continue the Lucas tradition by tying a Samurai term to the Jedi. A Bokken sword is a wooden sword used for training, so it is inferring Bokken Jedi are lesser than temple trained Jedi.

Serious question though, is Baylan not the best Star Wars character in a long time? Ray Stevensen would have been an asset long ago.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

yes agree but they needed to do a lot more fight training with lightsaber. hack and slash is boring as shit.

Yeah I'm not sure what they are holding back for. I feel the opposite about Baylan's apprentice though. Not impressed with the actress or the character so far.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I think that depends on the philosophy by which Baylan is training her.

She is also very naive. I'd be curious to know what age she is supposed to be. She is only known to have been born after 19 BBY and we are at 9 ABY, so she could still very much be a younger character than we may guess.

I kind of think of it like the trades. The young apprentice may have flashes of competency, but certainly nowhere near the confidence and competency of the master.

"That's my school, this is HOME"

I really thought we'd see Thrawn in one episode, and have to wait until the next to see Ezra. It sort of felt like finding him was too easy.

The hard part is keeping everybody alive

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

You mean they just arrived on a large planet, Thrawn was unable to find Ezra for 10 years, and then Sabine finds him before lunch? I am really enjoying the show, loved the Clone Wars flashback where Anakin turned into Darth Vader and back as he walked through the dust, but everything about this episode was too easy.

"That's my school, this is HOME"

Thrawn also seems like the kind of guy to play the long game.

He may have had an idea where Ezra was, even for 10 years, but he could have guessed that somebody in his posse would want to come look for him.

Two birds, one stone thrown from a decade earlier.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Thrawn felt nearly unstoppable in Rebels. If he wanted to find and kill Ezra...I feel like he could have tried. He probably had his reasons

Yeah I don't think Thrawn wasted a second worrying about actually finding Ezra if Ezra wasn't interfering with his plans for a grand return. His nonchalant attitude on Ezra, Sabine, Baylan Skoll or Shin Hati returning alive or dead if they weren't there when it was time to go was definitely big picture thinking.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Okay star folks - so I'm watching rebels for the first time, 6 ep in and I'm into it.

My question: should I stop and rewatch everything chronologically? I haven't seen clone wars series or the Han Solo movie, and I've just started rebels, but I think I've seen everything else (though it's been a while since seeing the movies).

Thoughts?

Not so much interested in better understanding Ahsoka; more just wondering if it's worthwhile to rewatch everything chronalogically.

I think Rebels is far more important as a precursor to Ahsoka than Clone Wars.

The last season of clone wars at least tells you why Ahsoka is where she is.

Bad Batch is worth watching but chronologic isn't as important.

The wife and I are slowly making our way through that and we only have an episode or two left. BB went from "Hey it's the A-Team in space!" to "holy shit this is really good and is knocking on the door to upper echelon SW"

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Skip Season 1 and 2 of Clone Wars. They are TERRIBLE and you won't miss anything. Season 3 is not great but has redeemable episodes. Then 4 and 5 start hitting its stride to be a good show. 6 and 7 are some of the best star wars you will watch.

This is the quality information I come here for. Thanks Fernley

Spot on. Completely agree.

I just started clone wars on Season 4 Ep 1. Feels like I'm able to pick it up without much context.

Did anyone notice that Ezra is wearing Chainmail made of dog tags of fallen Storm Troopers?

Yes and this is why thrawn didnt wanna send soldiers after him

It's interesting that Ashoka tried to train a non force wielding Sabine, but not a son of a Jedi Jacene....

They're not showing Sabine trying to just prove she can't move things. Eventually, it's going to happen.

I mean, it was pretty explicitly stated she would not have been accepted into the order for training...

Some dark magic on Peridea is going to go sideways and imbue Sabine with some force sensitivity.

Or maybe she just figures it out, but would not have been a good candidate for training in the Temple. They are giving good points as to why the Temple wasn't all it was cracked up to be from both Ahsoka's and Skoll's perspectives. I think they are using Ahsoka as a way to show how Rey will create a new Jedi Order with "Bokken" Jedi.

I want Hondo
I think we get Bendu

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Yeah, I watched a youtube video that speculated that Bendu was going to be what Skoll is looking for in terms of the greater power he was referencing.

I want Hondo

I still want a live-action movie or series and it's just Hondo and Donald Glover as a young Lando and they're pulling heists, escaping the Hutts, and whatever else those two would get into.

Nothing serious, dark, or edgy. No space wizards. I don't even care if it fits into what is now cannon SW. Just gimme popcorn action and adventure with Hondo and Lando.

Well, the writers strike ended today so at least Filoni can now continue to develop things for future seasons.

Anyone else thinking we might see Mando and Grogu in the last couple episodes? I know that the goal is the combine the story lines between Ahsoka/Mando/BoBF into one finale movie by Filoni.

I guess I just want to stay in these OT threads like this on here. I don't really want to think about our football team right now.

None of this is how I drew it up and that's okay because it's good SW content that's keeping me on the edge of my seat.

I honestly don't know where the finale will take us, but I am F*#&ING HERE FOR IT

Also, Chopper's about to go warcriminal on Xiono

Of course he wouldn't have a lightsaber. Where the heck would he get the kyber crystal to build another one while stranded out in another galaxy?? Then he proceeds to not train with of for 10 years, of course he doesn't want to just grab one in the middle of a real battle after not training with one for so long. I love these little details!

Ezra: "The Emperor died?"
Sabine: "That's what people say"

I see what you did there Filoni, and I like it.

Great finale, we better get a season two! So happy we got an Ezra and Hera and chopper reunion. Hopefully we get a Zeb reunion next.

The scene with Ezra building his lightsaber and Huyang talk about Kanan was perfect. I'm a sucker for that kind of scene. And then with Huyang having the part that was missing, and it was the same as Kanans, AND his new Kyber crystal is the same shade of blue as Kanan's? Just perfection. And I think they provided a canonical reason why the rebels lightsabers looked as skinny as they did in the show. Just awesome.

It's a damn shame we won't get Ray for season 2. He was arguably the most compelling character this season and I'm really interested where they are going with him.

Is there season two? Or does it lead into the big crossover Movie they are talking about?

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

So from what I remember reading in an interview from Filoni Ahsoka was planned for 2 seasons but the second season depended on how the first performed. Everything with this show, Mando, Boba, Skeleton Crew, etc... we're leading to the big crossover movie. Which gives me hope that it was received well enough to get a second one.

I thought that reunion scene was dumb when Ezra came out with the helmet on. He would have taken that thing off as soon as he could when he got into the shuttle and got away from the Imperial ship and certainly before he walked out and risked getting blasted.

The scene with Ezra building his lightsaber and Huyang talk about Kanan was perfect. I'm a sucker for that kind of scene.

Same. Not everything in SW has to be loud explosions and big action all the time. I thought this series was really good at the "quiet scenes"

Agreed. I think that - other than Andor - this was the best season of Star Wars Tv.

I was bummed there was no Baylan. If there is nothing else filmed with Ray Stevenson, what a waste.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

The finale definitely left me wanting more. Hopefully we do get a season two but as mentioned above this could be leading into the wrap up movie. Either way, it could be a long time before we see the conclusion considering every project now has a 5 month delay due to the writers strike.

Definitely a lot of cool moments, but overall I will be honest I was a little disappointed so much was left open ended.

I really like the show.

I love The Mando, but sometimes it feels like only half of those episodes are relevant to a big picture story. It feels like every episode of Ashoka was relevant to the 'greater universe'

But I had no idea this was the finale. The cliff hanger/open ending definitely sucks.

The open ending is kind of a bummer, but overall I loved the series and have faith in Dave Filoni to stick the landing when we get a (hopefully) season two.

Also note: I love what Filoni has done with Anakin Skywalker through this series

Great finale. None of this was how I thought it would work out but I enjoyed the hell out of the show. Very happy with Thrawn and Anakin.

Edit: only complaint is that I wanted a glimpse of what Baylan Skoll is chasing at the end. I'm fine with cliffhangers but not knowing made his piece of the story just feel empty.

So I have been reading that people think that "the Father" Mortis god (there are three, the son who is dark side, the daugther who is light side, and the father who has blance with the force) statue is pointing towards a gate to the world between worlds. Apparently in one of the cartoons (I have not watched really any of them) Ezra at one point came across a gate into the world between worlds. The theory speculates that this is how Ahsoka and Sabine get back to their galaxy from Perida (basically a stargate).,

The more I think about it I don't think there will be a season two, and that this will lead into the Flioni Mandoverse movie, with Thrawn as the big bad here like Thanos to the MCU. Who knows, maybe the next season of Mando will have a side story with them trying to get back, and then it all leads into the big battle against Thrawn movie.

There are some Star Wars productions that work better as live action (Andor) and some that work better as animated (Clone Wars & Rebels). Maybe it is because I just went back and watched Rebels but I just feel like this show would have been so much better animated. Sabine and Asoka were some of the most talented fighters in all of the SW universe that all the fight scenes in this fell very flat for me. The acting and plot didn't carry the rest of the show. Andor was so good at creating tension in the most basic scenes with little dialogue. This didn't deliver much in that way.

Thrawn was good but some things didn't quite jive. He talked about not underestimating these Rebels and how the heroics of one Jedi took him down but yet he sends two tie fighters out after Asoka, Ezra, and Sabine.

Overall I give it a 6/10.

I'm watching Rebels now for the first time, and all I can think is 'man, this shit is so corny because it's animated, would be so much better if it was live action'

Took me years to give it a shot because I couldn't get past the fact that it's a cartoon.

As someone who didn't watch Rebels before this (but knew lots about it) you definitely don't need to watch it to watch Ahsoka. I have gone back and watched most of the important things. All you really learn is character background and how they got where they are. This story is quite self enclosed.

But yes, just not happy with the ending. Why leave it more wide open than Rebels, after already making everyone wait since the ending of Rebels?

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Also, if anyone is familiar with the Thrawn legends stuff, it's just better.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

It is super corny, especially the first season. Even rewatching it I felt kind of silly at times to be spending time at night watching a cartoon. I don't think it is corny because it is animated but because the intended audience is 8-14 years old or star wars fans who will sit through the corniness to see the wider SW canon. However the action and even suspense in the cartoon is so much better than many of the live action shows. Good action can be done in a live action production but it comes at a high cost ex. marvel movies. The money in the SW shows goes to visuals and set design, not creating compelling action scenes. I guess for me the cartoon just does such a better job of showcasing how cool Jedi's are. The live lightsaber battles and hand to hand fighting is sooooo lame.

Star Wars has proved many times that they don't mind being corny anyway. Just watch the Rise of Skywalker where Lando shows up at the end. Or the whole end of that movie actually. Corny AF

This too. I've just gotten to the part where Maul becomes a reoccurring character. His character - the way he talks and acts - is definitely created to be a villain in a show for 10 years olds. Also, I don't watch any animated shows, except for maybe a very occasional episode of South Park.

The live lightsaber battles and hand to hand fighting is sooooo lame.

Funny, I just feel the opposite lol

I was really bummed reading this. Totally didn't realize Ray Stevenson passed away so if they continue the Baylan aspect it will have to be recast. Huge loss to the story. Thoughts go out to his family as obviously bigger impact.

I'm way behind in the times, but I started this today because I was bored at work. I thought episode 1 was ok, thought it was a little heavy on the female fanfare, and didn't think the acting was too great. But I lost all motivation to continue the series at the end of the episode. It's moronic how Sabine can be stabbed through and through with a light saber and then be shown up and healthy in a hospital bed moments later.

For 50 years that sort of wound/action was a known, no doubter type of fatal blow to anyone that received it. It's idiotic how they portrayed this instance like she had nothing more serious done to her than if she had simply had food poisoning. They should have just let her lose the fight and the map in a more obvious non-lethal kind of way.

I'm debating if the show's even good enough to continue watching at this point.

the audience review scores everywhere would indicate it is not worth it

Danny is always open

Disney being unable/unwilling to put a good effort into the Obi-wan series convinced me nothing else they do in this space is worth my time (except Andor).

I am really hoping andor s2 and mando s4 are good since I really enjoyed the previous versions

Danny is always open

mando s4

Get ready to be disappointed because I don't think there is going to be one. I could be wrong about this but pretty sure there is going to be a movie that wraps up both Mando and Ahsoka series that they announced last year when they announced there was going to be a Rey movie as well.

That was my understanding too. I really liked the Mandalorian, but I honestly thought season 3 was running on fumes a bit. They picked a good time to wrap it up as a show.

Andor on the other hand is one of the best shows I've ever seen. It was like Breaking Bad and Star Wars combined.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

I really enjoyed both Ahsoka and Obi-Wan. With the former, I'd say stay with it until the end. It gets really good. I thought Obi-Wan paid off with the battles, although I thought the ending was a little clunky.

Same. I think people hold these Star Wars shows to an unrealistic bar. Viewers want the shows to make them feel like they're watching ESB for the first time. But that's not possible. Because (a) Star Wars isn't net new, and (b) the viewers are 40, not 9 years old.

I found obi wan really not interesting but enjoyed ahsoka... what is insane to me is that with all the comparative ratings being publsihed with acolyte that andor had bad viewership while being the best star wars show

Danny is always open

Yeah, it feels like it depends on what people want out of it dictates their reaction. I am hoping for an advancement of the story in the nerdiest ways and some kick ass lightsaber fights.

I watched the whole season when it came out and I thought it was pretty good. I also thought it was a little heavy on the female roles - not that I have a problem with that in general, it just seemed a little forced. Rosario Dawson is very good as Ahsoka, IMO. I thought Sabine was the weakest character, but I didn't watch Rebels so had no backstory on her.

On the Star Wars fandom scale from 1 to 10 GGC, I'm probably a 7. If you really like Star Wars, Ahsoka is worth a watch. If you're kinda meh on the Star Wars universe, it will probably seem pretty mediocre.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

I got into star wars way late -- people on tkp put me on it

I decided to watch it. It's ok.

On a lighter consistency note: I am bothered how they take on like 30 stormtroopers in a small room with light sabers and they're slicing and dicing all of them, but not a single one of them is losing body parts. But then 30 seconds later they decapitate a higher ranking official and his head goes rolling. Then, a few minutes after that, she slices the sorcerer woman in half, but she remains intact.

Give me some consistency. The whole floor should be littered in storm trooper parts.

There's definitely a lot of inconsistency within the StarWars universe when it comes to violence and the competency of the Empire. To me it's like the Batman universe where the person/people behind the camera are making creative decisions for how to present the story. We have some darker Christopher Nolan style and then more goofy Tim Burton.

But even within the same episode.... You can light saber through a rock wall and then take a storm troopers head clean off, but why are the mass of storm troopers being cut down not falling apart.
