Athletic Department Leadership Promotions

Interesting timing on this announcement. Take in for what you will, maybe Whit is brushing his shoulders off at Mickey, maybe this furthers your opinion that the AD is a good ole boys club, maybe everyone just had a great performance review this year.

"I'm proud of our leadership team," Babcock said. "Each of them are incredibly talented in their own right and they complement each other greatly, as a team. I lean on them daily and am grateful for their commitment to our department and student-athletes. They make us better and these title promotions more accurately reflect their duties and roles."

John Ballein, Executive Associate AD/Chief Operating Officer, will continue to serve as the primary driver of Internal Operations for the department, overseeing the Strength and Conditioning, Equipment Services, Facilities and Event Management, and the Business Office for all of Virginia Tech Athletics. He serves as the primary sport administrator for the Baseball and Volleyball programs, and the secondary sport administrator for the Men's and Women's Basketball programs.

The story goes on to announce everyone else's change in titles and duties too, but I thought these 2 clippings would be the most interesting to everyone.

Winning cures all. Go out and win some damn football games and we won't be discussing this stuff

Executive in Charge of "Weights Weigh the Same"

Funny enough, from that job description with Ballein in charge of strength and conditioning, he would be in charge of the weights. If I had silly money I would create an endowed position named the Whit Babcock Executive Associate AD of Weights.

I would add "and measurements" but I like pompous sounding titles

Whit Babcock Executive Associate AD of Dead Weights

...ftfy?

Is Brad Wurthman good at his job?

no, but he is better than whomever had the role 3-4 years ago.

oversees all revenue generation, brand management, ... ..., ACC Network

🤔

I'd expect him to be wurth something

To be honest, I'm not sure how much he's worth, man

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

I guess you're asking if he's "wurthy".
