Let's goo!
HOKIES!!!
Solid 4*. 6"8' 225 lbs. He's a beast.
Had offers from a large number of schools including Duke, FSU, Miami, Florida. This is a great get. 247 Composite ranking has him at a .9733.
Overall 69th prospect in the country for the 2024 Class. BOOYAH!!!
Am I reading this all right from 247? If so, what a great get by CMY and Company.
Nice
Reminds me of Butts for Mutts. Let's keep it rolling!
Welcome to the freight train!
I'm Jonesin' for Jones!
Highest rated commit in Mike Young's tenure and the 4th highest in school history. Big enough to play center, but is a natural forward.
This sounds like a good thing
Not just the highest rated under Young and 4th in school history, but will also play alongside #2/#5 in that regard in the form of Rodney Rice.
I don't recall a moment where 2 of our at that time top 5 all time recruits were active on the same team.
Also, the 2024-25 squad will have 5 of Tech's All-Time top 25 recruits.
2021 CG Sean Pedulla (#22) - Sr
2022 C Patrick Wessler (#23) - R-So
2023 PG Brandon Rechsteiner (#21) - So
2022 CG Rodney Rice (#5) - Jr
2024 PF Ryan Jones (#4) - Fr
This is the news I like to hear.
Oh, and transfer SF Tyler Nickel would also be in the same group, ranking somewhere in the top 5
Young is not fucking around. he knows what it takes to compete in this league. There is a perennial top 10 team 2 hours up the road too. He's not playing.
He needed to prove he could win here before the big players would come. He proved it by having us win the ACC Tournament, and now we're starting to get some of those players to come in. And I'm glad its happening, we're putting together a very intriguing roster which could have us playing some very interesting games in the near future.
Collins top 30
Young top 40
Johnson top 45
Camden top 15
Awesome! Grab the πΏ!
Welcome to Hokie Nation, Ryan!
Let's go! Big man who will shoot the 3. Love it.
Very Nice!!
My advice to CMY
Huge get for the program.

HOKIE FAM!
(Starts at 2:00 minutes)
Welcome to the Hokie Nation!
Congrats to Coach and staff.
I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR!
Also welcome to the Hokie Nation Mr. Jones!
Sounds like the next Mutts but a better outside shooter.
more like Jeff Allen w/ more range; not quite as physical...yet
Jones probably should be top 40 in this class due to his size and abilities to handle passing/shooting. His ability to play both ends of the floor is a huge impact. He is a much better offensive player than defensively. He can shoot from the perimeter reliably but is also able to use both hands working the ball in the paint. The ability to shoot outside will be a big factor as it potentially draws opponents centers toward the perimeter creating opportunities for teammates to penetrate the lane. He will be a major plus in pick and roll/screen and handoff. He is a natural passer so will surprise opponents with his ability to find teammates in small windows. One area he will need to improve is his physicality in rising to the rim in traffic although he is excellent on both ends positioning himself for rebounds. Projects as a 10 point/10 rebound/3 assists type production once in the starting five.
Defensively he will need to work on his hip transition in lateral movement so until that improves he likely defends against larger slower opponents as he definitely has the physicality to hold his ground against true 5s. Opponents may revert to smaller athletic players to try to force Jones out to defend the perimeter.
Jones on picking the Hokies:
"I'm a big relationship guy and going down there for my first time for the official visit just the vibe was there," Jones told 247Sports. "When I was done with the visit, I had a peace about Virginia Tech and when I went to the other schools nothing beat them."
Going to be interesting to see how Patrick Wessler progresses and if these two can get on the floor together. Could be really dynamic offensively with these two in the paint.
Hell yes! Bring in all the tough guys! Love to see bigs that can play physical and own the boards. Welcome to Hokie Nation big man!
Sounds like a dude we need. CMY is a helluva coach, and now he's getting the ACC dudes.
We won the ACC ship with Wofford homies, can we do it in 2024ish with DUDES?
Why the fuck not. I'm drunk.
Dont heart attack me like that lieutenant rob!!!!!!
Drink?
You have to because mine was first, I don't make the rules
Crap, you're right. Counting is not my strong suit, apparently.
Exactly. Same here.
You can't do that to me, man! I've gotten too used to posts bumping old commitment being about a decommitment.
We bumped an old recruit thread for good news?
