The statistical odds of none of the showcase games being at home is all but nothing. This is ESPN deliberately avoiding coming to Blacksburg
Happy to have the team on TV that much, but.... I mean cmon

I'm going to the Rutgers game.....so there's that....
i checked in with the fam and my dad already snagged tix through rutgers. definitely will see you there!
Awesome - we'll plan to meet up-
Because whenever anyone who works at ESPN has come to Blacksburg, they hated it, and want us to fail, and move to Division II? C'mon man.
The Iowa and LSU games are obvious selections because duh. UNC, ND and Louisville no brainers as well considering those are (preseason) ranked matchups. Little surprised they don't want to catch us versus Duke, but I haven't really looked at any other games those weeks. Florida State and Rutgers are kind of strange selections, but...sure.
ESPN (and FS1) don't get to pick where the games happen though. The only one of those matchups that you could see in Blacksburg is UNC, and I don't really blame them for choosing to go to Chapel Hill for basketball, especially since we go to UNC before they come to us.
Other than Lee Corso that got his rental car hit by lightning.....
That seems weak, but if you want to be on TV more (even at home), all you have to do is win.
We literally won the ACC and went to the Final Four last year. We did win
Yes. And we'll have to do it again.
Looks like Iowa is at home.
VT is the "home" team but it's part of the Ally Tip Off event in Charlotte
our home schedule:
high point
houston baptist
unc greensboro
tulane
long island university
radford
william & mary
pitt
nc st
miami
clemson
gt
uva
duke
unc
outside of duke and unc, who moves the needle in terms of "national matchup"? the game at duke isn't nationally televised, and surprise surprise the game at UNC was picked upby ESPN2.
is it an agenda, or is it a byproduct of having mostly cupcakes at home, with the compelling matchups almost entirely happening away from bburg
True, but why don't we play the cupcakes at THEIR house, and the big games at home?
I suppose we'll eventually stumble on the correct thing to gripe about.
because we pay the cupcakes to come to our place(?)
I didn't realize basketball cupcakes were that hard to come by.
i dont think that they are, but we're not going to pay a cupcake AND let them take in the revenue from their home game. We pay them (hopefully as little as possible) so we can fill Cassell and profit from the ticket sales and concessions. If we didn't get a home non-conference game against a bigger draw team then that's our own fault.
Whit is our AD, remember? shocked he is not trying to prop up Radfords womens program for shits and gigs
As my WBB tickets are five rows behind the benches, I will appreciate being able to watch the away games.
We must sit right next to each other. I am row E behind the home bench.
We are behind the away team bench. Nice and empty there most times with no families in front of us. Kind of nice to sit with all of our Hokie gear and being loud right behind the other school.
just perpetuating the belief that ESPN has it out for VT and we have somehow wronged the Mouse.
although looking at our home non-conference schedule - its not great. High Point finished last season at 17-14, UNC Greensboro was 16-14, and the rest were everywhere from just under .500 all the way down to abysmal records.
