Running back Duke Johnson, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Miami's 41-14 loss to Florida State, isn't expected to practice this spring. That should give the rest of the Hurricane backs plenty of reps. Without Johnson, Miami's running game faltered late averaging just 99 yards in the Hurricanes' last five games. Dallas Crawford, who was second behind Johnson with 558 rushing yards and 12 rushing TDs, enters spring listed as a defensive back on Miami's current roster. That means highly-touted Joseph Yearby, an early enrollee from Miami Central, could see some time early in his career along with Gus Edwards and Walter Tucker, who is moving from fullback to running back.

He went over 100 yards against two of the softer defenses in the ACC, Duke and UNC. However, he was able to grind out 3.7 yards / carry against us. At the very least, it seems like an odd position switch.

I'd like to know that whole story.
There's something else lying under that bed.
wrong team but I think London might have to do with it.
he sent him a note:
YOU!
...are moving to DB.
That is weird. He is good enough to start at some ACC schools. I feared a 1-2 punch of him and Johnson, guess I won't have to worry about that anymore.
That is odd, he was a solid RB. They have to be pretty stacked at RB or pretty depleted in their secondary. I'm guessing a little of both.
Athlete? Come to VT and we'll make you a TE.
Athlete? Go to Da U and they'll make you a DB.
Maybe sarcastica? But we make lots of athletes DB's...
yeah, at VT we make QBs into TEs, and TEs into QBs. And we used to start an entire OL of TEs. Athletes have always been DBs and WRs
Sarcastica really needs to be patented and approved
We also have cases of turning RBs into WRs (Dyrell Roberts, for one)...
... and turning RBs into WRs into RBs into DBs (Justin Hamilton)...
... and turning QBs into DBs (Kam Chancellor)...
... and even turning DEs into WRs (Ernest Wilford).
Exum was a QB in high school as well.
... Sam Rogers was a QB too.
, then again he could excel at every position.
What this means to me is that Da U is still not back.
He looks like he "just jacked off an elephant"!
Dude.....
"That boy can stroke it. That boy can really stroke it right there. I'm going to take him to Target."
get it get it.....
Come on...no one watched 'The Replacements'?
I with ya Phoenix!
apparently he was a db/s when he was recruited. Some people on the canes forum's are loving this idea, others are laughing because it puts a ton of pressure on a guy like duke to come back fast and healthy. the only other rb that is not a freshman or r freshman is gus edwards, who looks more like a fb than rb
...in unrealted news Dallas DB, Orlando Scandrick moves to Miami FL
Geez, an intern makes one little typo...
This is a surprise to me. After Duke went down, I thought Crawford did a spectacular job in his stead and I was very impressed with his running ability. No one can replace a Duke Johnson, but when Crawford was in, I was pretty well convinced that Miami had one of the (if not THE) best running back tandem in the country.
I get that a stud freshman could overtake him, but moving Crawford prior to spring practice seems a little short sighted to me. They always say you can't have enough running backs, and Crawford has shown he can be a good one. I would have left him there.
Agreed.
