In Sam Howell's press conference this week he was asked about preparing for the crowd noise at Seattle and was asked the loudest stadium he's ever played in......"Virginia Tech, for sure."
Nice to know even in the down years we bring the noise and misery to opponents. One big reason why we perform much better at home.

A man after my own heart.
I always knew I liked Sam Howell. Also liking his play for Washington. Having a successful year
That UNC game atmosphere was bonkers in person! First game with fans after Covid IIRC.
I can't recall the year exactly, but early in our ACC time we had so many fans at Keenan that UNC had numerous false starts and delays due to crowd noise. The UNC fans had no idea what was going on.
I really wasn't impressed with the stadium, but I heard they have done a lot of renovation work so I may try to get down there if/when we ever play there again.
Yeah it's interesting that it's a shorter drive from Richmond to the three Triangle schools (UNCheat, NCState, Duke) and nearly even to Wake Forest, than it is to Blacksburg. That plus the fact that Hokie fans travel well often leads to a better than 50-50 VT to hometeam fans at those venues. I remember early in the 2000s, Wake's AD called up Weaver and said they had some extra tickets and how many would you like; Weaver said 40,000! The Wake AD said "we don't even seat that many in the entire stadium!"
If only those fans would donate to football like say, Auburn fans do.
I remember watching a VT @ Wake game and you could hear our fans chanting "let's go Hokies" on TV.
Heck we did that at the BC stadium in 2010.
we could have 5 fans at BC and do that...
4 more than we need at Lane North
But just to make sure, let's show up in force.
I was part of that, half the BC fans left at halftime to go to a preseason bruins game. They were in the game at half time, it was insane.
Up we were only up 7-0 at half. VT fans were basically at cross corners in their stadium and doing the Let's Go... Hokies... chant to each other during the second half when we broke their non-shutout streak at home. 19-0 baby.
Let's do that again tomorrow.
As of 2018 or so, Raleigh has the largest concentration of VT alumni outside the Commonwealth, and given the population growth since, I would have to think that number has only grown. Whenever Tech plays down here, we absolutely take over opposing stadiums, be it Carter-Finley, Kenan, Wallace Wade or even BB&T. Hell, we took over Dowdy Ficklen as well.
I don't have the facts to back this up but based on my personal observational data this is 100% true. VT is very visible in the triangle.
I mean I know its true, we were surprised when the Alumni offices at Tech told our Alumni Chapter this at the time.
Which makes the fact that we stopped getting major Hokie Club events with coaching visitors a couple years before COVID and have yet to see it restart a little damning.
Best Psych episode ever
There were a lot of great Psych episodes...
You found the Monkey Bread! But you're wrong, the best episode is either American Duos or the Mummy one. I did appreciate the crazy amount of Twin Peaks references/cameos in that episode though.
I know, you know, you mean "Dual Spires"...
I've only been to a couple of Ravens games so my live NFL experience is pretty limited, but I found that crowd noise at college games seems to be a lot louder than any of the Ravens games I went to. Is this not universal to the rest of the NFL? Anybody on here ever been to a Seahawks game in Seattle? I'm curious on how it compares to Lane.
Lanes highest decibel recorded is 126.2 and has the 4th highest after Washington (overhangs that amplify noise), LSU, and Clemson.
Arrowhead has had the loudest fans at 142 decibels followed by Seattle at 137, which is 4 decibels louder than UW at 133.
I went to the VT-USC game at FedEx in 2004 with some Washington season ticket holders and they said it was louder than they ever heard during an NFL game there.
Well, I can attest to this being a Washington fan, but it's simply because we haven't had anything to cheer for since 1992.
Fucking love it!!! LETS GO
Hokie Nation really do be like that.
duh
