Hey all, there was a scheduled downtime from 10pm ET - midnight, that ended up occurring well ahead of schedule. TKP's box was moved from one data center to another. I noticed it began early when I went to post a message that the site would be down and I was unable to. Should be good to go now though.

You know, given the smacking that wrestling took and the loss that the men's basketball team took on the back of the women's team the night before, perhaps sometimes these things happen for a reason.
Nah man, Whit had nothing to do with the server move.
"servers weigh the same"
They each have a processor, what's the difference?
Which Whit? Him or me?
The good looking one.
I'm going to assume you mean me then.
How I imagine things went last night for TKP's box while I was watching bball:

Thanks for the update. Figured it was a matrix thing going on.
It made me realize just how much uptime TKP usually has.
I usually do maintenance very late at night, or very early in the morning. I wasn't given much of a choice here. They originally wanted to do it on Saturday.

I thought my internet was broken and kept trying TKP for like 5 minutes before I though I should try another site.
It was probably good timing as the stupidity of my comments would have grown throughout the evening with my compounding frustration from wrestling and basketball. Football needs to win or this may go down as the worst weekend in VT sports in a long time.
Agreed. Was watching last night and kept saying "if you lose at least make it a decision can't afford a major decision or pin" then he gets pinned.
Pretty sure Caitlin Clark was credited with drawing that down time.
Man I lost it a bit at the friggin ACC Network showing only Caitlin Clark highlights while talking about our game. Where is the conference favoritism? Should have been all Amoore highlights then a final score. Corey Alexander gets it, he at least mentioned Clark getting too many calls.
I've got it recorded. Is it worth a watch despite the loss?
Yes, we played well, just came up a bit short. The refs did us no favors though. Apparently Clark can push off all she wants but you look at her wrong and it's a foul.
which game? Women's game was competitive, but frustrating as Clark got the Jordan treatment and was impossible to guard. Men's game was just frustrating as last year's issues don't seem fixed and cost us a winnable game. The men's game on the ACCN had the Clark highlight summary of an ACC game that had it's own star performance from Amoore. One would think the conference channel would want to hype it's own athletes, but nah.
I watched the men's game live (mostly) if I had to autopsy it that game was the 3. SC hit it (a lot) and we did not. Otherwise I honestly didn't have much to say about that L. The boys played well active hands and in the first half I'd say they dominated except for the 3pointer distorting the effort.
And that's ultimately my question (which others have answered: did the ladies equip themselves admirably? If so, worth a watch.
Ladies played well, but nobody could stop Clark especially with the refs giving her the preferential Jordan treatment and she didn't need the help.
I'll watch with that in mind many thanks.
Hard to play against the refs but it does legitimately happen sometimes
Based on today's result, I vote for server maintenance every Friday night. That has to be the difference, right?
No server outage last night and look what happens.
Did anything change on the back end of TKP? Ever since this scheduled downtime TKP is blocked by my work network
Data center change probably now falls under a IP block being listed in your companies firewall or your IT team finally got around to blocking the site. This would be my guess.
No, but the IP address changed. That could be it, but unfortunately I have little control about it. Although, I'll do some digging though. Is it possible to have you work admin make a change on their end?
Now I am worried what website (type of content) the previous IP address was tied to, because that's bad for TKP.
I'm not sure I wanna ask my IT to unblock my VT sports news and message board site...probably not the best use of company time 😅
I'll just have to be on my phone on the 4G during work hours
This is one of the nice things about working from home. I TKP on my personal laptop, that is set up next to my work computer. That way they never know when I am distracting myself from work (which is like 90% TKP).
For what it's worth, I am also in this same boat. TKP now appears to be blocked by our network firewall/IP blocker, and asking for an exception seems... like a not great idea career wise.
Time to make friends with someone in Network Engineering and figure out what bourbon, tequila, or rum they like
I reached out to the hosting company and I was told it's a fresh IP, so no negative history. Is it possible for you to email me a screenshot of what you're experiencing.
Just seeing this, I'll try to remember on Monday to do this
A message comes up saying "This site can't be reached" says thekeyplay.com took too long to respond
Try checking connection, checking proxy and the firewall, try running windows network diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
Would you do me a favor an email me your IP address from that work machine and a screen shot of what you're seeing?
I kept forgetting to do this, but TKP is working on my work computer again now...so I guess we're good
