His rolling two-year contract is also currently gone unless he meets "designated performance objectives." Those objectives require that Iowa averages 25 points per game and that the Hawkeyes win at least seven games next season. That wins number includes a possible bowl game
They only scored 24 against Utah State. This is going to be fun to watch this season.

Only scores 20 against Iowa state. Averaging 22 a game right now.
I've been obsessed with this all of season. Iowa is must watch TV.
Some coach is going to be pissed when he's going for it late in the 4th instead of taking a knee up 20-3.
Well... Ferentz had the chance to do that last week. And didn't.
Can we give Bowen a contract where he gets fired for not averaging 4 yards per carry?
Or just not picking a specific down to be run only
Maybe we can get Bowen something similar....
How about average 25 yds Rushing/week?
This contract is a complete joke. The 25 points per game should only be offensive points. But thanks to daddy, it's total points, so the pick 6 that Iowa's defense scored today helps Brian Ferentz keep his job. Nepotism in full effect just like Swofford with the Raycom & ESPN deal.
Whoa now...the temple Beamer built is based off non- offensive points. You might wanna step back a couple
Beamer was a head coach and should be judged on total points just like any other HC.
Brian Ferentz is an OC, the success of Iowa's defense and special teams should not cover up his incompetency. Do you think this sweetheart deal would have been offered to him if he wasn't related to the HC?
Nah you're probably right, and I skipped over which ferentz was actually the subject (I don't pay that much attn to Iowa in general). Just a joke about scoring.
I wonder if there are people in the Iowa fan base that think the younger coach should take the hc job or if that's just here...(despite performance)
Yes, the only more laughable contract was Randy Edsall's at UCONN- who actually got incentives for NOT finishing last in the conference in categories. True Story. He got bonuses for finishing 8th- not 9th in defense, etc.
I'd like VT to implement this in future contracts.
So much for the old B1G 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Trying to force it.
I'm not so sure I wouldn't prefer Bill Dooley's 3 yd and a cloud of dust offense.
we would need a new OC every year if we had clauses like this
late Nov 2023 edit: this aged like milk, and I'm so glad it did
Scored 41 today against Western Michigan giving them an average of 28
So are you saying VT that hiring Ferentz would be an upgrade for us?
Ferentz probably has 3-4 NFL bound olinemen and and NFL bound TE, so maybe?
Can he get those when not at Iowa?
Sadly, if Bowen left, this is exactly the type of OC hire I could see VT making. I mean when we finally got rid of Stinespring, we went and got one of the, what, maybe 10 people out there whose offenses were even worse than ours.
We need to get the guy ODU has now. Was averaging 600+ yds per game at Fordham and it looks like he's doing pretty well first year in FBS. ODU's offense was terrible last year, not it looks pretty decent
fuente put up a ton of yards and points too, Until he got to VT of course
Instead of trying to move the ball downfield like a normal offense would, maybe the key to breaking the curse is to scheme our offense to move the ball backwards, and thus will flip the script and that will create forward progress or positive yards.
Stop it soup. That bad juju
He did at Vt too
2019 VT was 86th in yards/game
2021 VT was 98th in yards/game
2020 was skewed with not everyone playing a full schedule
While more than before may be true, bottom 3rd of FBS isn't cutting it.
what about 2016, 2017 and 2018?
When he had more of Beamer's guys? sure the team was better.
Yeah but you can't just pick and choose years for Fuente without applying that to everyone else too.
If you do that you can't grade half the coordinators in CFB because most jump around every 2-3 years
Sure Fuente was the coach, but those weren't his players. I'm on mobile now, and those numbers were higher, but every year declined as the Beamer recruits graduated out and Fuentes kids were a higher percentage. It's about the trend, not just the number. You can grade them on the trend...up or down.
My point was that he was getting higher totals than the late Beamer years, but those fell way short in the overall CFB landscape. Just saying the numbers were up is misleading as the game changed and higher yardage totals abounded.
Thanks for the down vote. Appreciated.
Didn't down vote you
Along that line of thinking, Pry is the coach and Bowen is the OC but with Fuente's players. So, by that logic we cannot judge Pry/Bowen until Fuente's players have cycled/portaled out.
Agreed. It's a blend. Just posting numbers to see the "fall off" with the comment that he put up numbers at VT as well.
What are we even talking about now. Fuente benefited from franks guys. "He" but two guys in the first round....
I would love to see what pry could do with THAT roster
DC was saying you can't trust getting a G5 coordinator, because Fuente also put up points at the G5. So I pointed out he also had those numbers here.
And if you discount every coach that put up numbers with someone else's players, you'd barely have any resumes to go off of
2021 98th at 361.7 yds/gm, 23.7 pts/gm
2019 86th at 385 yds/gm, 30.8 pts/gm
2018 40th at 428.2 yds/gm, 29.8 pts/gm
2017 53rd at 412.8 yds/gm, 28.2 pts/gm
2016 39th, best year, at 445.7 yds/gm, 33rd in scoring at 35.0 pts/gm
At Memphis:
2015 19th 486.9 yds/gm, 11th in scoring at 40.2 pts/gm
2014 49th 427.1 yds/gm, 21st in scoring at 36.2 pts/gm
Scored ZERO today against PSU. Giving Iowa an average of 21.25. They are going to have to put up some serious points against Michigan State, Rutgers and Purdue later this season.
They had 3 first downs 🤣🤣
Serious competition for worst offensive coordinator, Tyler Bowen and Brad Cornelson are prime candidates along with Ferentz
Won today against MSU 26-16 average after 5 games 20.2, not looking good for him.
In one less game Army has more passing yards than Iowa.
For total yards, Iowa is only ahead of our favorite OC at Sam Houston state.
Also the big ten seems to be attempting to return to 1905. Iowa leads the charge but Nebraska Minnesota, and Rutgers are all in the bottom 10 for pass yards per game. Those are the only P5 school in the bottom ten.
Only scored 20 against Purdue. New average 21.83.
Gotta score 29 ppg for the rest of the season to keep his job. Hahahaha good luck
Iowa wins but Brian Ferentz dug his grave a little deeper today, needs to average about 30 points a game including the bowl game.
Didn't the new AD at Iowa say she's not going to honor the under 25 points thing and is open to rehiring him?
It's still fun to track
Ahh the classic parenting blunder of not following through on the threat.
Fun Stat! Iowa's punter had 506 punt yards against Wisconsin. Iowa's leading passer has 505 yards this season.
Gotta give repect. Averaged over 50 a punt.
He gets a lot of practice.
"Son, come to a program where you can get a lot of reps, really show NFL scouts what you've got. Generate a lot of film for them to watch."
Reps in live games, mind you, not practice...
Trivia time, since 2021, who has scored more points in Kinnick Stadium?
-Iowa football in a conference game OR
-Caitlin Clark in basketball
Without looking I have to go with Clark. Because it would be such an absurd question to ask if it wasn't her.
YUP!
Definitely Clark in total points. I wouldn't be surprised if she actually averages more per game than the football team. I know she did last year but not sure across her career.
Iowa is last in total offense, behind Cornelson. However they are favored in the rest of their games. There is a legitimate chance they win the division at 11-1 and fire the entire offensive staff.
Except, maybe not?
Reminds me of a certain team with coaches named Foster and Stinespring. Good lord, if we could have had even a mediocre offense back then to go with Bud's elite defenses. How good could we have been?
I'm not sure Steinspring was ever this bad. I know he was never 133rd in offense but how close was he ever to last place in yards?
The Stinespring era is really interesting to me. His offenses were never at the very bottom, however they were also terribly inconsistent. Some seasons we scored a lot, but those scores were loaded up on bad teams. Other seasons we couldn't grind out a first down, but the defense gave us great field position. Other seasons we simply couldn't get out of our own way. At all. I'll never get over the bubble screen to the short side of the field to the same guy who just returned a kick... Every single possession (it seemed that way).
I'll go to the grave believing it was Stiney that kept Beamer from his Natty.
Don't go to the grave with hallucinations. Ricky Bustle was the OC on the 1999 team.
That team lacked depth of talent at skill positions. Many others were better filled out rosters that we didn't exploit.
there were other years where we were really good teams but too inconsistent on offense, bailed out time and again by Randall, Tyrod, and Thomas and good D/ST play
I've often wonder if I could go back in time and teach that team the read option that RichRod had already discovered at Salem before the bowl game what would have happened. Vick running a 2007 WVU like offense would have ran for 400 yards on FSU. They wouldn't have solved that in 60 minutes. But could I convince some one to trust me with the play? How many times do I have to make Corey Moore look worthless to get Ricky to call that in game?
In the second half, Bowden stopped the VT pass rush with chipping and max protect - and exposed Bud's long time weakness- the single high safety. Might have been a shootout, but Vick running the read option would not have helped Sorensen cover Peter Warrick with no help. VT was out-coached the second half of that game.
Then again Warrick should have been banned from playing in that game.
True- but today, he would be paid from Dillards legally and could have been in his 8th year playing too.
"A felony ain't a NCAA violation"
-Bobby Bowden (probably)
Leading in the 4th, I'd take a shootout, last one with ball wins.
Also painful to revisit- kick the FG on the opening drive, and play even special teams and we win, IMO. Beamer thought he had to take chances to beat them. Not true. They came in cocky and unprepared for Vick and Bustle running a couple option looks he hadn't shown. We had the talent to beat them. We also had the talent to beat Reggie Bush and USC.
I come back to that al the time - and I said it live, not revisionist history - that we should have kicked and took the lead. Still think we would have lost to a team that had much more depth than we did, but if we kick there and don't go for the second 2 point conversion (assume we still go for the first to try and tie the game) we can punt instead of going for the long fake punt as we are within 1 score with those 4 points. The stop on the fake punt and FSU score after that was the nail. My guess is we still lose, but we have a chance.
And the fake punt made no sense. Just leave the best player in the country on the field and see if Vick can pull off the conversion rather than a fake punt.
We were beating Reggie Bush, and the reigning Champs USC until the ref's decided they need to "fix" the game.
It wasn't the refs' job to cover Bush on wheel routes.
Yeah, but they sure did kill the drive and swing the momentum
I mean wheel routes are impossible to defend so can't blame anyone there
PS nice avatar
Adibi was doing just fine shutting down Reggie. Then he messed up his shoulder and that was that.
https://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2013/1/18/3866348/all-wheel-routes
This was pretty funny
"Charlie Weiss Fart" lol
That's an odd way to spell Peter Warrick
Yeah, Dad is going to have to fire his son. It is what it is. Especially when they get white washed by Michigan or OSU again. My guess is his son will stay as "run game coordinator/ST coach" or some variety, but the silly "25 ppg" metric was the last gasp for him and they won't get there. He pulled a Fuente and can't find a good QB.
Iowa has scored: 24, 20, 41, O, 26, 20, 15 and now 10. Averaging 19.5 I don't see how they get to 25 average.
Also, 2 yds of offense in the second half tonight.
Now that the offensive ineptitude has finally cost them a win, it would be the height of nepotism to keep him next season. Although, as an Iowa State fan, I hope he stays.
That was an awful way to lose on that punt return TD called back for "fair catch".
Yeah, the refs blew it on that one.
Edit, after the explanation provided by Fireman, I guess they got it right.
The real comedy was after review the ref said it was an invalid fair catch signal but called back the td anyway.
Yes because it's a dead ball.
He made an invalid fair catch signal that was the call and it was correct.
https://www.si.com/college/2023/10/22/iowa-football-fair-catch-call-rule...
Thanks that makes it better I guess but really shitty rule.
Yeah, nothing short of a travesty. I don't care what the rule is, his arm never went above his shoulder. Not a fair catch signal of any sort. Feed that page of the rulebook through the paper shredder yesterday.
*disclaimer: Iowa is my "team 2"
That's the whole point, it was an invalid signal. The rule protects him from getting absolutely demolished out there but also protects the competition because it means you don't get an advantage when punting team slows down or gets out of lanes.
It's a good rule, it's just unfortunate that the return man waved his arms at all.
But yeah, as a punt returner he should know the rules.
That was a really rough call, and a super punitive application of that rule. There is one wave of his left hand that starts to creep up right at the end, but it still doesn't look like a fair catch signal. All of the replays are too zoomed in to see how/if the coverage team reacts to it, but watching it live I didn't get the impression that anybody 'let up' in response to it.
*disclaimer: Minnesota is my "team 2a"
He waved his left arm three times, again he gave an invalid fair catch signal. If they didn't have this rule and a kid threw up a quick signal like we see all the time and got decleated and fumbled would be the outcome in some game.
Eh, this is playing the result. The kid scored on the play- in a game that set football back to the stone ages. There is absolutely no guarantee that he would have scored had he simply fielded the punt. Punt return TDs are rare. People are pissed because he scored as he danced through 20 piss poor tackle attempts by Minnesota. It's like that blatant PI call missed in the saints rams game a couple years ago. Yeah- a farce. No- no guarantee he would have made a 50 yard FG. FGs are missed all the time.
But everyone on the returns team know that rule...once it's waived the approach is changed. Most teams yell "peter" loud and on repeat to inform to stay away too. (Return team is coming back w their eyes in the opposite direction.)
Friday night and all day saturday I was joking with wife (a graduate of Minnesota) that Iowa was going to stomp them, 10-0.
I'm just wondering what the Michigan data on Iowa's offense looks like.
Harbaugh: "Stallions, what the heck man! You only came back with 7 signals and two of them were to punt?"
Stallions: "We couldn't correlate the signals to the plays because Iowa was incapable of executing anything that looked like an offensive football play."
Harbaugh: "Well what do the two punt signals mean?"
Stallions: "they mean punt the ball"
Harbaugh: "um, well what's the difference?"
Stallions: "Difference?"
Harbaugh: "Yeah why are their two?"
Stallions: "No idea, they both were used when they kicked it deep, same formation and everything."
Harbaugh: "well anything else you have to report?"
Stallions: "waving at the kids was really special, you just turn around and wave at these cameras so they can see you."
Harbaugh: "You waved directly into a CCTV camera?"
Stallions: "Yup, made a donations in the name of the Michigan Traveling Signal Stealing Team too, going to write it off as a business expense!"

I waited way too long for this gif to start...
EDIT: inserting KingJames's original "gif" so this whole thread isn't invalidated by his ninja edit...
typin' up an e-mail to Joe about how slow the site is until you realized?
not quite, but I did check the page source and saw it was actually a gif (and right click->open image in new tab loads the gif just fine). No idea why it's just the preview for me.
oh, that is weird...tumblr issue, maybe?
dunno? If it works here, then it's user error.

Doesn't load as animation for me either
For those that care:
VT average score for the season: 26.125
Iowa average score for the season: 19.5
Yeah, but what about average punt yardage?
Iowa APP 48.7 yards - VT APP 43.7 yards
Iowa PG 334.8 ypg - VT 218.5 ypg
Iowa
IOWA OPPONENTS
Punt: YDs 39 FOR TOTAL YDS 1942; 34 FOR TOTAL YDS 1435
Punt: AVG 49.8 42.2
VT
VT OPPONENT
Punt: Avg. Yards Per Game 43.68 44.49
Punt: Net Average 40.28 38.60
Punt: Total Yards 40-1747 45-2002
Couldn't find net yds for Iowa directly but gross yards about 6 yds farther than VT; and extrapolating from return yardage by opponent Iowa appears to net 46.3 yds avg so again about 6 yds higher than VT
Of note - Iowa has punted 55 times to VT 40; iowa has had 18 punts returned to 8 for VT(1/3 of theirs returned; 1/5 of Hokies)
Semi drinking cause had added more details but ....heck I'll drink the whole thing!
I was just being a smart ass, but I appreciate the effort from you and ltrepeter
Per 247, Offensive Coordinator Brian Ferentz will not be returning next season. They have already let him know that he will be done after the bowl game. RIP Sweet 15ppg Prince.
What's going to be funny is when some one comes in and does worse.
That's only happened at tech like 3 times
My thoughts as well. Ferentz will not go out of his comfort zone, so I doubt they will get someone much better.
You mean they aren't switching to the Air Raid?
Fu is available. Suspect Corn will be as well.
Iowa and Corn sounds like a match made in heaven
very underrated post. kudos. On a serious note, yes I am typing this. Justin Fuente as OC for them is an upgrade from Ferentz. If Fu can concentrate on that side of the ball and call plays, etc. Iowa's offense will be much improved- as long as he doesn't have to recruit.
Know I've mentioned this on the board before, but my dad went to Iowa State. Grad school for him and before I was born. My mom told me that - ironically - the corn there is terrible. It was all feed corn and not the good sweet corn you get at NJ farms.
So Iowa and awful Corn would be a good fit.
but i was told corns corn the same
you are killing it today my friend
Yeah most corn in the top corn producing states are dent corn and popcorn. Sweet corn is a much much smaller market for corn.
So the NJ corn is the corn that has the juice....
can confirm that NJ Corn does not corn the same
soooo gooooooooood
Come down to lower DE!!!! They put the SCHAWEEEEEEET in sweet corn.
Not even in top ten for states with most or best sweat corn.
Have you picked corn yea there is a lot of body salt on every ear. Did one summer in Westmoreland county and I got my ass ran up and down a field by the migrant workers.
There's not even a Westmoreland county in New Jersey so idk what you're talking about
There's one in Virginia, though, right next to KG, and there's a significant amount of farming there.
i wouldn't be surprised at all if the small state with restricted farmland doesn't have the top-10 "most" of any crop, if any it would be blueberries or cranberries
it's so vague it's basically meaningless lol
EDIT: BOOM NUMBER 9
https://www.nj.gov/agriculture/farmtoschool/documents/seasonality-chart/...
Most? Of course not.
Best? You better belive it buddy.
Yeah, but it is a profitable market. I knew a farmer that would grow 29 acres of feed corn for his cows and 1 acre of sweet corn. They would sell the sweet corn by the side of the road during the summer. That 1 acre of sweet corn paid for all of his corn seed for the year plus a little extra.
Farm stands are a tragedy of the commons problem. Your margins are through the roof if you are the only one, but as soon as everyone else puts one up, you saturate the market and you have to drop prices to move product until it's not worth it to keep running the stand due to opportunity cost of other ways to sell. Same with being the first vendor at a farmer's market to offer a certain vegetable. Your first season you make a killing then market forces take over and you have to scramble to find something else high margin. Sauce: sister and bro-in-law are trying to make it as vegetable farmers in the valley. They've cycled through almost as many business models as seasons they've been growing: CSA, direct to restaurant sales, farm stand(s), farmer's market(s), etc, etc, etc
That's why established markets have limits on who can bring what. They don't need 18 people selling tomatoes. They do need variety for the health of the market.
I'm just going to leave this here:
Highest Scoring Games at Wrigley Field in 2023:
8/1: Cubs 20, Reds 9
4/11: Cubs 14, Mariners 9
8/2: Cubs 16, Reds 6
7/18: Cubs 17, Nationals 3
9/20: Pirates 13, Cubs 7
9/5: Cubs 11, Giants 8
11/4: Iowa 10, Northwestern 7
Iowa's offense is so bad...
Michigan is favored by 22. The o/u is 35. That puts Iowa's expected score at 6.5. In a conference championship game.
Finally a score you might not take the under on. Can Iowa score a TD, or more likely a FG and 2 safeties.
x + y = 35
x - y = 22
2x = 57, x = 28.5
y = 28.5 - 22 = 6.5
Yup, 28.5 to 6.5 for a total of 35.
They're gonna get boat raced. Iowa has a good defense that has played a collection of the worst offenses in college football. The only offense with an EPA over 0.1 they've played is Penn State and they lost 31-0...the next best offense they played was Illinois who sits about in-line with full season VT offensive EPA.
Apparently based on the show last night, if Bama beats Georgia and the other predictions hold true. The SEC could be shut out of the playoffs and the talking heads are losing their minds.
1. That won't happen.
2. In the unlikely event that it does, I'll be sure to shed a tear for the poor lil sec
which is why the system is getting an overhaul... its not because everyone wanted it, its because the SEC believes they are better than everyone else and got pissy that this kind of situation could actually play out.
If they really wanted a fair way for a playoff format it would be to have it based on record, not perception. The new system is a step in the right direction that would better enable some chaos in the conference championship game while still allowing an unexpected loser from said conference championship game to not get excluded from the playoffs.
The myth about the SEC dominance is being worked with the Texas victory over Bama this year. They are trying to figure out a way for Bama and/or Georgia with a loss to be put in a final four over Texas when they would all have the same # of losses, but Texas winning the head to head.
I wouldn't say its just Texas - a quick glance at their collective OOC records and it looks like the SEC was roughly .500, with a losing 3-4 record (if I counted correctly) against the ACC (Tennessee over UVA, Kentucky over L'ville, and Georgia over GT).
here is SEC vs others
------------------------
| Conference Results |
------------------------
| AAC | ACC | B10 | B12 | CUSA | Ind | MAC | MWC | P12 | SEC | Sun Belt | FCS
SEC | 6/ 0 | 4/ 6 | N/A | 1/2 | 4/ 1 | 3/ 0 | 5/0 | 2/ 1 | 2/1 | 56/56 | 4/ 0 | 14/0
EDIT: improved the format
It's from a table that prints to screen copies from a terminal window on my phone that was vpn'd into my server
ooooh now I feel like I am looking at some black market stats
Similar vibes:
I did it while cooking dinner, sorry I dont have more time
under 500 vs P5, records padded by the FCS and weakest conferences.
Until very recently, they went something like 50 years before playing a non con P5 team west of the Mississippi. Yes. Their top 10 programs never play road games against the G5 - like VT does EVERY fucking year. I pissed myself when I saw Bama actually play at USF this year- I checked the TV 10 times. Its a shell game.
Wasn't this year UFs first true road OOC gsme out aide the state of florida since 95' when they played at cuse?
They played Texas in a pro stadium like 4 years ago and that was the only other OOC game outside of the state
Yes, of you dig into it, It's ridiculous. The Rose Bowl was Bama's first game west of the mississippi in like 100 years. It's ridiculous.
When it was a regional sport that made sense, but the money has grown so these teams should be playing more teams and better matchups.
My hope is that the P5 merge into a single conference and the divisions are largely the old divisions that made sense (this fixes the tv contact issue that Oklahoma created in the 80s) and then the conference can make the teams play more meaningful games.
Took me a minute to get the gif, but nice pull. And I'm not sure if I would have recognized but for looking at Twitter this morning and seeing the replies to the UL basketball player that didn't want to play the game because he didn't have the right tights, which included some Men in Tights gifs.
The brain and memory is weird.
I'd expect if Bama beats Georgia that both of them would make the playoffs. I mean they will both be there ahead of the loser of Washington-Oregon and I'd guess they would be there ahead of Ohio State so as to (1) not punish Georgia for playing the extra game, (2) they are the defending champion and (3) they are in the SEC.
I'm assuming Iowa has little chance against Michigan, so I'd think Michigan, Georgia, Washington-Oregon winner and Alabama would end up there with Texas left even if the beat Oklahoma State and beat Alabama earlier and Ohio State out as not making a championship game. But who knows.
Wonder if Texas would file a Liberty style lawsuit if one loss Bama makes it into the playoff instead of 1 loss Texas who beat Bama. If Washington, FSU, Michigan and Georgia take care of business none of it matters.
While I agree, it is delicious to imagine the chaos and schadenfreude if they pulled it off.
Absolutely, i feel like Team Chaos would be rooting for Oregon, Louisville, Bama, Iowa, and Texas in their conference championship games. Just maximize the number of 1 loss teams and sit back and watch fanbases implode
Oregon, Louisville, and Texas have a real shot. I feel like Georgia has the edge in the SEC matchup. Iowa winning is full on chaos.
It's pretty easy to predict what the committee will do at the end of the year:
They just go through steps 1-4 above, stopping whenever they reach 4 teams. If you tell me who wins this weekend, I'll tell you exactly what they'll do.
Chaos rains predication. Oregon at 12-1, Texas as 12-1, Bama at 12-1 as your P5 Conference Champions with 1 loss.
P5 teams with one loss - FSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Washington. Does Georgia beat Michigan to get in?
Depends on how each team lostIf Michigan loses to Iowa, then they're out. It's a worse loss than losing to bama.
uga in over michigan because a loss to iowa is disqualifying but a loss to bama isnt
So if Georgia loses and the rest win, I think Georgia is out as Ohio State jumps them as their only loss would be to #1 Mich. It would become a Bama v Ohio State battle as you would have to weight a loss to #1 or a loss to whatever Texas ends up being ranked and if Texas wins they may jump both.
The irritating thing is last night ESPN radio was talking about does anOSU, Texas, or Bama jump an undefeated 13-0 FSU because of the QB injury. I would think the P5 commissioners on the committee have to stomp on that NO just to protect themselves in the future.
FSU is in with a win over L'ville, and they should be- for obvious reasons. They are undefeated- which is so easy- Nick Saban has done it a grand total of twice in his career. So they are in. The other reason they won't be left out is that if they win the ACC and beat- say- Penn State in the Orange Bowl, they will be 14-0 - with wins over LSU, Clemson, UF, etc- and the committee will look like horses asses regardless the outcome of other games- which could in fact leave them as the ONLY undefeated team- the committee is not that stupid.
I swear, they are just looking for an excuse to make bad decisions. "The original QB is hurt, so we aren't going to pick them...." TJ Barrett, Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts...come on guys. The kid that is hurt isn't on the Heisman list, give some spect to the back up. If he beat L'ville handily there's no reason to keep them out when they are undefeated.
You have to remember these are some of the same people who voted for the Heisman candidate three weeks ago when their assistant made up their mind.
I know and it's ridiculous.
Correct, to date Michigan has 2 good wins. They lose to Iowa 7-3, they are out. Iowa is not scoring more than 10 points, so the loss will be ugly either way.
I am so rooting for Iowa to win 5-3 with the safety in the first half off 3 forced turnovers. I know it won't happen, but I imagine I could hear the screams of anguish from Michigan in Blacksburg.
I can honestly see a 17-3 Michigan win at most. Iowa 100% has a legit defense- they can stop michigans strength- the run. Michigan will win, but it will be close IMO. They won't blow them out 52-7 or anything.
Iowa's first half team total O/U is .5 +100.
I would hammer that over. The defense is probably good for a safety.
Again, their defense hasn't played anyone remotely close to as good as Michigan's offense.
I sit corrected and glad that I don't actually bet.
Just to be clear, Iowa scored 0 yesterday and there aren't divisions next year, which means Purdue's Kicker, Mitchel Finneran, was the last Big Ten west player to ever score in the B1G championship game. Keep that in your shirt pocket for really specific trivia night.
