Picked up Gal Civ IV a couple of weeks ago. Have got about 12 hours in so far and it seems to be scratching the Strategy Game itch right now.

Decided to pass on Cities Skylines 2 for now as the optimization was not there at launch and they seem to be struggling a bit (4th quarter content has been delayed, console version delayed, etc.). It's too bad because I like a lot of what i saw in the game.

Decided to pass on Cities Skylines 2

Not a bad idea. I've got about 30 hrs into it and it has the bones of a good city sim but it just doesn't have the challenge that you usually get with sim game. At this point it is more a full city painter without all the tools for it. If they keep working on it like they did the first game, it can be a fantastic city sim. I will say that the mixed used zoning is what drew me in and it is an excellent addition to the new game. I just hope they add more variety in the mixed used zoning instead of only commercial/residential buildings. I probably won't play it again till they put another patch or 2 out for gameplay(or at least reducing the fail-safes in the economy).

The road building tools and more intuitive terraforming were what I was excited about. I like to avoid mods as they often break save games when a new patch comes out and it seems like the devs incorporated a lot of the CS1 mods into the base game.

I will never go back to C:S1 after playing 2 just from the QOL tools that were implemented and mixed zoning. The terraforming is something I didn't really get too into in both. It is free now in 2 but you need to use it since modular building need a flat area or you get some terrible looking areas with cuts taken out to place the building.

It really needed another 6-12 months like the the console version for them to finish some of the systems in the game or be able to figure a better way for the safeguards in the economy to be implemented or turned off altogether. It doesn't have bikes because they didn't have time to complete the animations in time for the release.

Spider-Man 2 was dope. Miles is just too damn fun to play with

I won't post spoilers for those that haven't played yet though. ... But please do hurry so we can discuss lol

I thought that game was excellent. There is one segment in particular that made me go 'oh shiiiiiit', and I rarely do that gaming anymore

I'm on PC and just now playing through the Miles Morales game. Finished Spider-man earlier this year. It will be awhile before I get to play the 2nd one. At least Sony has realized there is money in the PC market for their games.

dumb question here, but would this have significant spoilers if you haven't played the first one or Miles Morales?

My fiancΓ© got this for me for my birthday, and I didn't have it in me to explain that there's a digital only version of the first game and a sequel that's not a sequel that come before this. Eventually I'll play them all, just not sure how much the order matters.

Yeah, I would have to say that if you were planning on playing them all, don't start with SM2, as there would be some pretty significant spoilers to the story of the 1st if you played it first.

Also, the combat of the 2nd game is a good evolution from the first, which was excellent in its own right. But, if you only played the 2nd and went back to the first, you might not get the full appreciation. That said, with the 1st game remastered, it still holds up exceptionally well, so there's no harm in playing them before moving on to the 2nd.

I have so many hours in Starfield. Baldurs Gate 3 was really fun playing with friends when we could get everybody on, I like Diablo 4 (especially the story and atmosphere/music), and going back to Cyberpunk with the new expansion is on the list, but Starfield is just so relaxing.

I've spent hours just landing on random planets and photographing stuff. Played enough vanilla that I'm starting to throw in some mods as well. The game has its issues but has vast potential, I'm amped to see how it evolves.

I picked up a G920 wheel/pedals combo on a Black Friday sale. What PC driving games should I look at? I'm thinking I'd like to try the F1 game, but 2024 isn't out yet and 2023 is still full price-ish on Steam. Recs?

Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione

both can be had for cheap and both are great

American Truck Sim
Dirt Rally 2.0

Bought a 1TB Series S on Black Friday sales last week - Also picked up a copy of Hogwarts and Hell Let Loose and have been having a ton of fun. HLL has its quirks and is a tough game, but it's a ton of fun. Insurgency Sandstorm is also miles better on the Series S than it was on my One X.

Looking forward to getting into some of the other next gen games. I'll give Starfield a shot, but I've never been a huge fan of Fallout style Bethesda games, so I'm not sure how much I'll get into it.

I'm slowly but surely getting in Baldurs Gate 3. My first time in this style of gameplay, and it takes some getting used to. The movement thing during battle..

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Welp. Guess I'm going to play College Football Revamped for the rest of the evening. Thanks Egbert!

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Whatever I can do to help.
You are welcome.

I've spent way too much time on Starfield, and its been the only PC game i've played since release. Been playing some throwback Castlevania SOTN to break things up a but, and my Analogue Pocket just showed up on Friday and now Castlevania Circle of the Moon is getting a lot of playtime. Speaking of - the Pocket is absolutely gorgeous and nothing about it feels out of place. And the graphics... oh my... its like every GBA game got an HD facelift.

I've been playing through Final Fantasy XVI and I'm absolutely enjoying the "medieval/GoT" inspiration instead of the typical modern JRPG aesthetics. I got a solid BF deal for Jedi: Survivor so that's next. I've also been playing Hades and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge on the Steam Deck. Good times.

I was really disappointed to find out most of the insane scenes are just real news stories out of florida.

Oh I mean I have no doubt Rockstar is all in on making this Florida Man haven

I'm just disappointed it's a 2025 release

I do want to note that my wife is hoping that since there is a female protagonist that the female characters will be able to wear bras unlike in GTAV

I heard it was a woman protagonist.

From the leaked footage last year I think it's a couple (man and woman), and you are able to switch back and forth like GTAV

Console only on release in 2025.

Been playing Jedi Survivor finally. It's a good game, though a little less straight forward than Fallen Order it feels like. I prefer the linearity of Fallen Order, Survivor has been good so far. I don't think I'm very far in, but who knows.
