LETS GO!!!!
HOKIES!!!
dude after seeing Kyron Drones I almost shit myself before I saw the announces he's staying part
Dude, same. Exactly why my comment started with thank God. Lol
I fought the urge to write a clickbait headline.
"Drones announces decision for 2024 season on local radio show"
Thank God. LET'S GO BABY
I didn't think there was any doubt around this one to be honest, but glad it is confirmed
He should have said "since we beat Virginia, we're really shooting up!"
Would have been funny, but he knows that's not the standard we aspire to.
I thought he'd be back, but there is nothing better than confirmation from the source.
This is the post I've been refreshing TKP all week for! Let's gooooooo 🦃🦃🦃🦃
Hokies!
If you build it!
They will stay.
Guys I'm getting hope again
Heisman frontrunner
I mean you squint your eyes and you can see it, right?!
Most important player on the team, if not outright the best.
Super happy he's coming back, but is this really what it's come to? That every player on the team has to confirm that they aren't leaving?
They dont have to, but it builds excitement for the program
I mean, considering how many people, including starting QBs from powerhouse schools, have entered the portal, it's definitely nice to know rather than checking every day to see who's entered the portal and having no idea who might bolt. And I think they get it, so nice to let the fans know. I mean, maybe even his friends were like "dude, you coming back?"
Welcome to the age of
free agencyNIL and transport portal.I think you guys are both right. With the way even the good players are entering the portal I kinda suppose it has come down to that which is awful for the sport. I'm still had he did.
I'm gonna keep saying it... Pry is having success with the most important recruiting right now - he's keeping the key guys around.
WOOOOOOOOOO
Pending how the schedule plays out... I think we can start the season 6-0.
What's that I hear? Is that a....hype train coming down the tracks??
TOOT TOOT MOTHERFUCKER
Obligatory
Thank You Baby Jesus. Definitely pee'd a little in my pants and felt the beginnings of my gag reflex when I started reading the title.
Look at what this Pry led organization is doing. The individual "I'm Stayin" videos as an example. Pry's morning coffee video as another. There are about 50 more out there that others could list out without thinking twice about it.
He's changing this program. He's modernizing it.
He's effecting change. Retaining Drones just seems to be such a statement win.
Hopefully this news will make it easier for Jennings and Tuten to announce that they are returning, because I see at least Tuten as a very key part of the success. And even Tuten can't ignore the positive impact of Drones on his rushing yardage.
If I was Tuten I would wait to see if we pick up 1-2 linemen before announcing.
I thought Tuten said he's coming back.
Edit: Can't find anything on it. Must've wanted to read it somewhere.
I think someone mentioned that an instagram comment of his made it seem like he's playing in the bowl. So... #sauces
Thats the word on 247. Tuten and Jennings are expected back so the offense should be mostly intact. The two we are truly waiting on are Strong and Delane.
And Strong had a couple minor injury issues this year and the hand last year. So, if he gets a good draft evaluation (no idea if he will) that has got factor in significantly for him. Hope he is back!
His father seems to think he should stay:
He is a damn good corner. I am very excited to see what he can do next year.
My stomach dropped when I saw "QB Kyron Drones announces..." lol
two things:
1) I nearly lost it with the title because these usually dont involve players staying
2) The 2rd order effect is that other players currently in the portal (e.g., WR, OL) know that VT has a returning and now proven QB to guide the offense. If those players are looking to make a splash to hopefully boost their draft status in 1 year, VT probably moved up a few spots in their pecking order.
Assuming the smoke about Tuten is true, this makes VT an incredible pitch to any transfer OLs.
"Are you a big ole beef ball who isn't getting the playing time you want at Indiana? Do you figure while you're in school you might as well hit some people? Are pancakes your favorite food? Do you Want to start basically immediately with a power running QB and a hypersonic bulldozer making you look good?? Then VTs the place for you."
THIS.
With a proven QB and hopefully a decent stable of RBs, VT will be an appealing landing spot for OLs in the portal. My understanding is that since it's a hard position to recruit, it ends up being one of the hotter commodities in the portal. Fingers crossed we land 1-2 strong OLs!
This has a perpetual impact too. Right now we have a good QB that some really good linemen could make look great. Fast forward a couple years, we have some really good linemen that can make a really good new QB recruit look great, then another year a great QB —> great OL. This has the potential to create that kind of flywheel.
Did anyone else read this in the voice of the Ghostbusters commercial?
Well, I did now!!
LOL
