VHSL state championships are/were being held there today. Idk if this was Pry's idea or this is just a random Hokie, but it's a good reminder of who runs the state for potential recruits!

What you get without an nfl stadium in town? Not saying it's good or bad (in my era it would have been the silver dome on green indoor/outdoor carpet under a bubble in a crappy part of southeast Michigan (not that I was good enough to get there). Now it'd be ford field. So kinda nice. Pretty sure noth Dakota plays at the Bizon's field (no research done, just expectation)
UVA being the most serviceable, logical, central, field with unused capacity makes sense. Whether it's actually a temple to sport is another question.

Does liberty host any HS playoff games? I could see regionals but I'm also completely unfamiliar with VA hs structure (would like info - 2 kids entering grade school no clue how va public works)

Six championship games all get played on same day. The VHSL Class 6 and Class 5 state championship game were played at the University of Virginia; the Class 4 and Class 3 state title games were played at Liberty University; and the Class 2 and Class 1 state championship games were played at Salem Stadium.

These locations make a to of sense. They are somewhat neutral and close to the schools. The Class 1/2 is a great example, local/western teams (know Radford is one).

They also do all the local HS graduations at the Vines Center. I had mine there in 95 but my sisters (87 and 93) were done on the football field at Brookville. Once they built that place it make a ton of sense because of the number of people that want to attend you would have to do it outside, so the Vines center could handle the larger crowds and have it inside in case of weather. They would do several in a day, as we were walking out another are HS was coming in.

How about Phoebus extending their winning streak to 35 with an 86 yard TD with one second remaining....with a backup QB no less.
Phoebus' game-winning 86-yard touchdown won pass per NFHS Network feed. Phantoms won 21-14 over Salem in Class 3 state championship game. pic.twitter.com/kmz6buYQVWβ 757Teamz (@757teamz) December 9, 2023

Senior starter got hurt in second round playoff game. Not sure on what year the backup was but he started last two or three games.. But makes you wonder what FSU might have done....

Only thing to make it better would be graduation day.
Or if it also said "55-17 bro"

The basic one is very reusable. The 55-17 might be hard to re-use.
They could install the letter racks like they have on the banners at the Outer Banks so they can update up the score.
Was this today? I was actually in cville, so sad I missed this lol.
Yep. Dude just flew back to Orange. 9 laps total.
I'm disappointed it wasn't 55, but this is great.

Is there anyone playing in the championship with the #9 we're trying to recruit? This could be a sign.

#9 played at Libery Biberty's stadium for his championship game. Was a banner flown there too?
Why would any public high school play there, eww.
The turf they had when I was in high school was terrible. Had a scar from it for years.

UVA makes sense, it's liberty that doesn't.

Northern Virginia uses George Masons basketball arena for this same reason.
Most of their seats are brand new/never used.
Never have to worry about it interfering with bowl game practice......
Btw-Radford won 2A state! First one since 1972.
Is this where we complain about Prioleau as a coach since it just took them 2 years with out him? /s

Believe the backup started this game (and maybe a few others) and is a freshman?

Not like FSU's backup QB's didn't throw for just 8 yards less than Michigan's starter over the last two games.
Love seeing Salem lose. Go Bruins
