HOKIES!!!

Is anyone else creeped out by this GIF?

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

It's The Addams Family (Values)

I am all for the chaos scene this was in the movie...it's parallel to the shit show that CFB has become is notable. Only wish the parallel extended further in terms of the Hokies prominence in CFB. Either way, here for the show.

YES!!!
I've always thought it disturbing.
But for some unknown reason, I like it. Even though I get the hebee-jebees looking at it.

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

The bizarrely sped-up version is way creepier than the normal one

You tell `em, Uncle Jesse!

Gonna probably need one more OL before I feel good about the portal. Have 0 idea what Montavious brings to the lineup but bodies and options are good there.

(add if applicable) /s

Multi year starter at RT who I think might be able to slide inside too if needed. I think the staff would like to add an additional body who can play center and maybe another true tackle if they can.

I wouldnt be shocked if we also look to add more bodies here after spring too depending on how things shake out the next 4 months or so.

I like it- been in a college weight room, been coached, big body. These types can step right in and contribute. We are still recovering from 3 OL coaches in 3 years. Crook needs bodies he can work with. I hope we get a couple more.

First team All Name team. Bonus points when an OL has a name that sounds like "Mountain"

Happy to land some transfer OL, they were needed, but does anyone have a personal read on this guy's quality? I haven't watched any film on him, and I wouldn't be the one to give you the best read on an OL anyway.

See below.

There is a good amount of film out there on Cunningham, so expect a film review after signing day. He was the starting right tackle for Georgia State, which uses a lot of the RPO/strain multiple points on the field. I have watched parts of GSU's games against LSU and Appy State. LSU plays an extremely passive read and react defensive scheme, so it is tough to assess how he would handle aggressive attacking gap scheme defenses. However, some things stood out. But he didn't look out of place against a good SEC team.

1) Even though he is 6-3, he has very long arms and likes to use a throw technique as a way of securing the B gap on draws and on the backside of the play.

2) He does a good job of redirecting. For example, against a stunt where the DE stunts inside, he can engage that DE, but once the guard engages, he can redirect back to the outside to pick up a delayed edge blitz. He shuffles when he moves, which is good for redirecting, but gives him a less powerful base when drive blocking.

3) He is persistent and tenacious with effort. And, he cheats like hell. He loves to get into a pass blocking stance and then abruptly point at the defense. LSU jumped offsides twice on the first drive, and Appy State jumped offside at least once. It is a savvy move, which would be made even more dangerous when the QB can manipulate his voice as part of the snap count.

4) He has some weird technique issues. He has a good base, but not good pad level because he plays with almost no forward lean. His technique is passive, and as a right tackle, he will line up sometimes with his feet parallel to the line of scrimmage, and sometimes with his outside foot giving a little ground. The Hokies tackles usually have the outside foot further back. I didn't see film of him playing a quick aggressive edge rusher, so that makes me wonder if he can handle a Aston Gillotte type edge rusher. While he is good at covering his gap, the way he shuffles doesn't give him much power to move defenders once he engages.

More tackle options are good, but it is interesting that he plays a position where the Hokies have a three year starter, versus right guard (which was a weak spot all year.) It makes me wonder about the status of Clements going forward.

We are looking to take one or two more OL so we will probably land an OG. However, I think the dream would be to land a true LT and slide Chaplin inside to OG.

And can you explain the cheating and moving his hand comment? Is that frowned upon when in a pass blocking stance?

I think french is referring to a sudden point at the something in the defense right when he gets into his stance that causes the D to jump. He basically sits in his stance then quickly raises his arm "to point something out" but remaining in his stance so the defense jumps. In the few highlights I've watched he is like robotic about how he gets into his stance its the exact same motion every time so when that gets mixed in I can see how its effective.

Agree- his movement is weird and painful, but he kind of gets there, and does it against good opposition. I would like to see him play with more forward lean, but he moves through contact.

He could play RT, or if he is comfortable with playing with more weight forward in his three point stance, a guard. He is a cerebral guy. He seems to adjust his stance in a way that would indicate pass, and they run, and then plays square to the line on a pass. Either he has a real slick line coach, or he thinks the game in an interesting way.

As an OL, you can point, but he seems to do it when the QB barks signals, like he is deliberately trying to draw the defense offside (as a defender, you are supposed to go on the ball, but many go on movement.)

This is the answer I was looking for. I see OLinemen point all the time so figured there was something more to your comment.

3) He is persistent and tenacious with effort.

I like this part the most.

I wouldn't call LSU a good SEC team when talking about their defense, out of our opponents only BC and UVA were worse and UVA was almost tied with LSU.

Very happy to see an OL commitment

It's not Christmas until I've seen Hans Gruber fall from the 30th floor of Nakatomi Plaza.

That was the second Christmas movie of the year right after Miracle on 34 Street. Already watched DH 2 as well.

Nice

Nice but ouch at same time.

The main problem I see with this addition is that we're probably going to get him confused with the other Montaviouses that are already on the team.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

We'll just have to dub Mr. Cunningham "MC Pancake" to avoid all the confusion. /s

I deff just coughed, laughed out loud and spit out my drink while reading your comment. I apologize that I have but one leg to give.
