Stone Bridge LB/TE Tanner Karafa Update

WaPo's Tariq Lee published an update on Virginia Tech target Tanner Karafa: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/recruiting-insider/wp/2014/03/06/sto....

Tech's offered the 6-3, 240 prospect as either a TE or linebacker. However, Karafa believes he's most suited for defense. He played OLB last season at Stone Bridge out of necessity due to injury, but quickly excelled (12 tackles in 2 starts).

Highlights are on his Hudl: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1640496/tanner-karafa.

LB sounds good to me. We can never have enough LBs.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

TE or LB? I guess we can never have enough guys to play QB! (sarcasm)

FWIW, that guy's bigger than most of our defensive ends right now. No way he'd stay at LB unless he has some freaky Clowney-like athleticism to carry that weight all over the field.

doesn't need to be a freak, just talented. It'd be nice to have some NFL size in the Mike or Backer position.

If he's walking around at 240 as a junior in high school, I would seriously doubt that he'll stay around that weight over the next 5 years or so. You don't even see NFL linebackers (in 4-3 schemes) at 260+, which is where he could easily end up in college.

I hope to get to see him several times this coming season since Stone Bridge is close to home. Loudoun County is really turning into a hotbed of athletic talent. Not just in football either. Part of that though is how much the parents here spend on their kids athletically. One guy I know did the math on how much he had spent on his daughter for soccer in her life. He told me it came up to $65,000 and she was only a junior at the time. Fortunately for him she got a full ride to school to play soccer.
