I will add additional pressers related to the bowl in the comments as they come out. ESD will get its own stuff.
Everybody's back y'all LFG.
- Just finished 9 practices in Bburg. Most with full coaching staff, a bunch of scrimmages and competitive periods. 5 more practices will occur at bowl prep. Tulane work in the last seven practices, since knowing the opponent.
- Canteen, Phillips, and Jones with a couple others have been getting practice reps at safety for the bowl.
- It bothered Pry to take the "transfers can't play in bowls" philosophy into this game. Knew that there were good players that wanted more than what they could get at Tech, but deserved to play. It was a case by case basis for players portalling.
- The staff breaks down where they think a player will land in the draft and go over expected salaries and signing bonuses. Dorian wants to be a first round pick and the staff thought he needed to improve in a few areas to make that happen. Needs to be a little thicker, support the run better, and get more nickel experience.
- Pry mentions a couple players were ready to hang it up after this year, buy decided to come back and use their COVID year.
This was a pretty good one overall and I skipped over some remarks already talked about on TKP, definitely worth the listen IMO.

I do like that Pry ia evaluating portal players on an individual basis, I hope it's for what's best for the team and player and not just "we need this position". Derrick Canteen played all year, so why keep him out, he was part of this year's team. Some players I understand why it's better to just seperate. But that should be on an individual basis.
Sucks that Peoples and Stro aren't going to play in the bowl game glad they're getting healthy though
any idea who the two players are that will use their covid year to return?
Fuga and Gosnell maybe?
🤞Gallo?
edit: I guess that wouldn't be his COVID year though technically
Yea that's interesting to me. How motivated is someone going to be if they're ready to be done but end up coming back? Is it for depth?
Some guys just love playing - and that's often a good reason to transfer; they want more playing time (possibly at a specific position) and they just aren't good enough to get that at Virginia Tech.
I think the statement was that they were going to hang it up and just stop playing not transfer.
That's exactly how I interpreted the statement as well..
one could be Wells. I would have thought we would have heard his decision by now.
I doubt it, we already have Watson coming back and adding Belfort. They probably think we have enough QBs.
1) this is an old comment prior to any news on Wells.
2) the comment was about conversations Pry was having that have a COVID year avilable and may or may not return (the OP just said it in the affirmative).
Wells is moving on, but at that time of this comment could have been 1 of the 2 considering using the COVID year to return that Pry mentioned.
My bad, I missed the post date. I've been out of it the past week or so.
CBP looks like he caught a bad cold or something out on the recruiting trail. Hope he heals up well. Not that there is an ideal time to get sick, but adding that on top of everything else right now has to be extra exhausting.
RSV is going around
Anyone know where to get the sweatshirt that Marve is wearing?
Not the exact hoodie, but SWVA, run by a Hokie Alum has one similar.
Hokie Win Hoodie
I think the team had SWVA shop make them, but I'm just guessing.
The WR announcement video has some cool ones, that didn't exactly match anything on their site, but were similar.
Edit: drinking

I missed this yesterday and I am on the road today, so no notes for this one. It's a quick one though, enjoy and happy Hokie holidays to all.
- happy with team on travel day. No cirfew issues
- HS coaches visiting all week
Prepping for Tulane:
- lots of unknowns
- trying to prep for everything (coach speak)
-focusing on ball security
- Chanz is indeed practicing with team
- looking at this as a last opportunity to perform against a "good" (ie, top 25 caliber) team; "didn't cut the rug" in previous chances
- will be using iPads on sideline, no helmet comms.
Edit: from me Merry Christmas Eve everyone
Saw the Chanz thing. Can any recruit do that kind of thing? What's the rule about that?
My understanding is they have to be 800% done with high school course work.
And probably be local enough to commute in/out (I'm reading into it I'm guessing they can't stay with the team)
Is he not an early enrollee? I assumed that was the case.
He is, but there's no where to "enroll" yet. Classes don't start for like 3 weeks
Could be enrolled in a winter class
It is called "Football Bowl Prep 101," Tech briefly got away from offering it after 25+ years of offering it. But it is back now.
Not sure UVA knows how to schedule this class.
Thanks for doing this and keeping with my tradition of poor spelling.
Dernit, I even went back and edited. Welp
Been there. Many many times
So many times. Usually try to catch my own but happens more than I would like.
Pry taking advantage of the opportunity to get some high school teachers out.
Not a whole lot of new information, but I thought I'd share for those interested.
Let's Go!
I made a note of that Lofton play as well, before I knew anything about the hamstring. Just a great hustle play by a guy who could've played like he had one foot out the door, but didn't.
Keep in mind, he was named offensive MVP a few years ago in the spring. Granted, our overall talent was way down, but to see a young man's role get reduced this drastically and still put forward that kind of effort is special. It really speaks to his character. He has his physical limitations, but a great Hokie. I hope he goes somewhere and tears it up next year.
They said they did PowerPoint for everyone, I want to see them and to see how many effects they used. I want to judge them!
