Corrected above but seems that most think he is gone. Below is one example but seems consistent across X that Pratt will either declare for draft or transfer. Even saw posts suggesting Ohio State may be in the destination list.

So far, only 2 starters (WR Brazzell, CB/S Douglas) have entered the portal that I've seen. 2 backup QBs have entered and there still isn't word on the the actual starting QB (Pratt), so as of now I'm not putting this in the same category as our opt-outs for the Pinstripe Bowl. It may get there, but most of the action seems to be with the backups.
So you're telling me if the starting QB enters the portal, we might have to face a WR playing QB in a bowl game who won't be able to complete a pass....

Yea, the departures are not nearly as significant as I had expected with their coach leaving. It's still a pretty solid group that will be in the bowl game. Definitely not a snooze-fest yet. Still time for them to check out, but seems less likely with each passing day.
I also have not heard how many of the departures also will be playing in the bowl. I assume they would not be, but that's not always the case.

Add a starting Defensive Lineman in the portal
This is a big loss. Deal plays their "DOG" linebacker position with No. 6 (name escapes me.) The DOG is the boundary edge defender who plays like a hybrid DE/OLB. Deal had 13 tackles for a loss and was also adept at dropping off the edge into coverage.
Also I saw backup safety Kentrelle Webb was entering in the portal. He played a lot, and he will absolutely light your ass up. Several of their secondary guys are heavy hitters.
I was almost finished with my bowl preview of their defense and two of the guys who I was focused on are leaving. Oof.
While Webb wasn't a starter, he played a lot and was an absolute headhunter.
Better keep a close eye on that preview French or it well be in the portal before you know it.

We're still a team that had to win its last game to become bowl eligible. We didn't beat a particularly good team all season. If Tulane was at full strength we'd probably lose this game. I'll just take the win straight up if we can get it, not worried about winning by 50 by any means.
Yep, this is absolutely the correct take. Looks like some folks' hype train already hitting overdrive just because we pasted a weak ass UVA team. I like where we're headed but I do believe we're still in the "enjoy every win regardless of margin" phase of the rebuild. Just get the dub, enjoy a winning record in year -1, and look forward to next year, hoping we return all the key pieces.
I agree. Even without the majority of their starters as long as the O Line is intact they will still be a solid opponent. 4th string QB will be a mystery as well so tougher to prepare for.

The problem is that the more Tulane players/coaches who opt out, the more this changes from a game that doesn't really hurt us to lose, to a game that we look like crap if we don't win. I mean, let's just win the damn thing. A winning record and the first bowl victory since Fuente's first season would feel awfully nice going into the offseason.
The only bowl games that are must wins, IMO are NY6 type bowls. Having said that, I feel it is very important for VT to take this game seriously, compete, and play a clean game. If we prepare properly, we will win. If we are distracted, and don't take Tulane seriously, I will be disappointed. I want to see us compete, be serious and play a clean game.
