Excellent fit. Brings the twitch like Pollard and Kendricks but doesn't get washed out as easy.
My only worry is that Duke rotated heavily on DL, so even though Peebles got all conference recognition, he played about as many snaps as Payne was playing at the end of the year. With Copeland being more of an unknown, and Fuga and Pene as the only experienced depth, I imagine Peebles will be getting more reps at a tough position to play lots of snaps.
Do we finally see Givens contribute as a backup? High upside but hasn't pushed anyone to date.
Was injured to start the year, but believe he got some time at the end of the uva game. Wondering what your thoughts were on him as a DT, French? Would hope that we could at least turn a high 4 star into a serviceable backup
Keep in mind though, that rating was more based on his OL abilities than DL. If I remember right, we got him in part by allowing him to play DL where others were more dead set on him being OL
Yeah hopefully we can talk him into moving to OL. If not, might be in the portal soon.
I watched him get dominated by a bunch of kids who didn't even make it to D3 football (Abingdon vs Lord Bot). I think he has good measureables for an OT/OG, but based on everything I have heard about him and what my eyes tell me, I don't think he ever plays meaningful snaps at Virginia Tech at any position. And that sucks, because it is good for the program when a highly touted local recruit does well. Frankly, what I saw on the field and on tape didn't line up with a four star prospect. I think Madison, if he can return healthy, has more upside at DT. Givens has the tool to be a good offensive lineman, but first he has to WANT to be an OL, and he wouldn't still be at DT if he were open to that conversation. That is my two cents. To me, I feel like he is one of those guys who I think will move on or be asked to move on this offseason.

Does anyone know what is going on with Peebles. There's rumors on Twitter and Reddit that Duke is making a push to retain him. Feels like it could have legs considering Diaz is the coach and Maalik Murphy is coming in at QB.

Didn't he sign his letter of intent? Someone smarter than me please chime in, but wouldn't he essentially have to transfer back out to go back to Duke?

Copeland the JUCO may be what you are thinking of.
The current state of the Transfer Portal is that of essentially unregulated Free Agency and nothing is truly binding literally until start of the Semester and enrollment.
It certainly isn't surprising that Duke would make a big push to keep him and while there does appear to be some smoke here, it's hard to know how serious to take it.
That being said, while Manny Diaz has never done much to make me think he can be a consistently effective Head Coach, he is a good recruiter and could be a thorn in VTs side from that standpoint.
Seems there was a big push but think we were able to fend Diaz off.
Apparently duke and Diaz made a big PUSH ($$) to keep him and we were able to big dawg them via reasonable counter via Triumph NIL and due to his relationships with Derek jones
