It's not normal that my jeans are working this hard on a Monday afternoon
OH, I'M READY TO START LYING ABOUT NEXT YEAR.
The middle of the defense just went from 6 to midnight in the span of 2 hours. VT might be making some waves in the ACC next year...
Guess this was the trifecta on the bat signal. Fam! We got better today!
ALL THE TRANSFER HOKIES FOR CHRISTMAS!!
LFG x3!!!
Some tweets by Bowen and Mines suggest we have some offense coming in today as well.
Unreal.
this was tweeted prior to Brumfield but after the Pry Trifecta tweet signal.
My guess is no more today. There are two offensive players in the portal and one Richmond DL in the portal that are high on their list, so maybe today? Maybe tomorrow? Maybe later this week?
Gotta stop dancing because another transfer just signed on.
Oh BABY
Two years in a row, we saw where we needed immediate help and the coaching staff went out and got it in the portal. That and HS recruiting looking pretty good as well.
I can't even remember the last time I was this excited for the next season in December. MAYBE 2016 after we'd gone to the ACCCG? If not, it was several years before that, so maybe a decade? What a feeling!
2010 or 2011. Easily. Best I've felt about the program in the off season since then.
I forgot to mention getting so many impact players back when it seemed to me from the talk on here that we might get poached from an NLI perspective.
What a great Monday!
We just upgraded two position groups of major need today...Hype Train 24':

Ok, I loved Peebles and Copeland. I am a little more lukewarm on Brumfield. I am not sure he beats out McDonald at MIKE, assuming Lawson is the full time WILL next year. I didn't think he was winning battles with his fits like I expected. Looks serviceable, but I had hoped they could do better.
Howard, the D2 kid who committed to A&M, felt like a better scheme fit, but he wasn't playing Alabama like Brumfield.
Do we think they slide McDonald back to Mike after he played a decent amount at Will down the stretch over Lawson?
It depends on need. Lawson has more upside even though McDonald was better the last few games. Aycen Stevens will be in the mix. Keller is still there. And now you have an experienced starter with Brumfield. I think there will be more of a competition at that spot, while at DT, Peebles and Copeland are coming with the understanding that they will be in the top rotation (to me, the top four DTs are "starters".) Peebles wasn't a starter at Duke, but they rotated DTs every 4-6 plays. I think he wanted a little more PT even though he made 3rd team All ACC as a backup on his own team.
Doesn't having a good stable of DT/DL help the LB corp out? Less block shedding if the big uglies are getting doubled.
Yep. Part of my film review on Peebles will show a play where he gets doubled, and both the linebacker and corner are free hitters. They go to the wrong gap, and the Clemson RB gets a decent run, but Peebles gave them an opportunity to make a play.
There is going to be lots of transfer focused content after the bowl. I already have a half dozen plays pulled for Peebles and Copeland before work reminded me I still need my not-fun-time paycheck.
Thanks French. It's appreciated as always. Looking forward to the content!
I see the developing competition you describe as a good thing for the team overall. Can't hurt.
FWIW Brumfield was the #1 guy with a bullet. Pry LOVES him. They liked Howard fine but wouldn't have taken his commitment until Brumfield decided where he was going. They could've gotten Howard if they had pushed, he had some connections to the staff
Awesome. Sounds like a legit pickup. If he can fly to the ball and fill gaps like we need him to, plus with the addition of some DL talent, we might see some improvements in our run defense.
So, I'm necroing this thread because this comment has made me do a bunch of thinking.
If the staff has him in this high of regard, that's cool. How does their view of him compare to Stone from last year? Were they high on Stone? Or was he a potential body in a room?
Good God, man.... You had me thinking the worst with this bump!
I know. But I knew if I didn't reply to LAHokie, he probably wouldn't see it elsewhere.
I hope you're wrong, because having a HC and DC with LB background who just can't seem to find/develop a half-decent LB group is incredibly frustrating.
Opposing QBs are getting a serious case of the Mondays
Nelson- Fuga-Peebles-APR
Pene-???? (Madison if healthy?)-Copeland- Burgos (I think McCray may leave, but if he stays I would prefer he be a passing down specialist)
McDonald-Findlayter-????- Abbey/Jennette (I think one of the two leave)
Laws travels and is the first man up.
Star- Woodson, Chatman
MIKE- Brumfield, McDonald, Stevens
WILL- Lawson, McDonald, Gabe Williams
CB- Delane, Johnson
NB- Pennix
CB- Strong, Lovett
FS- Stroman, Jones, Reddish
BS- Phillips, Flemming
WILL- Lawson,
Have you considered Lawson at the WILL spot? 🤪
Dwayne would make a good LB if he still has eligibility. /s
Another question. Doesn't Jenkins still have a COVID year?
Almost positive he does. Think he's one we are waiting to hear. Him going back would be huge. He played really well and consistent.
If he doesn't come back isn't that where they want KL to be?
That's what I thought too. If Brumfield can solve the Mike Problem with McDonald getting some Mike reps, I think we will be OK. I know there's been a knock on LB development but I like what I saw from Woodson, and we all know KL has all the tools. McDonald showed flashes. If we get Jenkins back, LB group would definitely be better than last year having a true Mike and a years worth of reps for those underclassmen.
If we get Jenkins back
how about "with Jenkins back"
Well said.
So one of the things I have learned about him after reading up on the commit is that he specializes in being a run stopper
Which, holy hell do we need that more than anything else on the defensive side of the ball. Literally could be one of the most important commits we've had in a while.
Yes, if Marshall and Rutgers don't run down the field untouched next year, we know we will have improved
